AIBU?

AIBU - a physical trait (of- mine) that I have always hated is now fashionable....

I have freckles, covered in the buggers. Face, arms, knees, legs - everything but my tummy. I hate them with a passion. My DF always joked that in the summer when they were at their most potent, it looked as if I had stood too close to a muddy puddle and someone had dropped a brick in it. Previous sentence is for context not father bashing. He meant it in the best possible way and in humour, I love him dearly.

I am lucky that I tan and don't burn but I do have dark hair so this may be the reason why. I feel so ugly in the summer when they come out fighting. I have good(ish) skin but I long for a clear complection and decolletage.

Anyway, I found this link before on Buzzfeed: linky

I am all for personal preference but who in their right mind would willingly get freckles?

I'm Irish and have dark curly hair, blue eyes and freckles on my nose, cheeks, shoulders and arms. It's more unusual in England where I now live I guess but I don't really think about it much. I like my colouring and freckles, they make me, me. DP thinks they're really cute too.

DD has the cutest smattering of freckles on her cheekbones close to both eyes. They really draw attention to her eyes and now she wants to wear glasses and have braces (glasses because her bestie has them and the fake ones she has suit her, braces because she thinks they look cute) I hope she's still as keen once she actually has to wear the braces lol

I love my summer freckles, I only wish I had them all year round!

I love freckles. I think they look cute.

I have some on my nose, tons on my arms and they really tickle me in summer cos I find my arms adorable!

My husband is Asian and he has some on his nose. They aren't that common for his skin tone, so they look really striking.

Love this photographer's celebratory take on 'natural freckles positivity'. All the portraits are special.

In desperate bid to distract an on-the-cusp-of-tantrum toddler, I once handed her a (washable!) felt tip, my freckly arm, and told her to join up the dots...worked a treat. Grin

Don't have freckles myself but I find those that do absolutely drop dead beautiful. Smile

I'm with you op. Growing up I was teased mercilessly to the point where I now hate my freckles. Hate my arms, shoulders etc and am terrified of one day looking like bianca from Eastenders so stay out of the sun at all costs. The damage that can be caused by throwaway comments from a father and kids at school is surprisingly high. My dd has a smattering of freckles on her nose (we both have red hair) and I'm being positive about them to her without being gushing and insincere to try to avoid her growing up to hate something about herself that she literally can't change!

I hated my freckles as a child because they made me different, and now I quite like them for that same reason. I don't actually notice them much anymore. I have freckles everywhere, but mainly my arms, legs and face

Mine have faded away as I age. This makes me sad! Also a pronounced birth mark on my leg has virtually disappeared. I'm fading away!

I've had freckles since being a small child. I'm now 43 and I love them.

I love freckles. I have none, unless you count the age spots on the back of my hands 🙁

Natural freckles are beautiful - congratulations on having them :)
I long for the day when white, flabby bodies are desirable :D

We all have physical traits we dislike. Yours, which most here have admired is currently actually fashionable DN how weird is that? Like saying being 5'7" tall is just so very now.

So enjoy your moment in the sun (!) and learn to love your own skin.

I get you OP.. I have very thick, dark eyebrows (even though I am a natural blonde!) and I absolutely hated them when I was a tween/teen, mainly because the fashion then was to literally shave off your actual eyebrows and draw teeny tiny thin ones back on with a pencil Hmm but now I love them because darker, more defined eyebrows are actually quite fashionable and people pay ££s to get their eyebrows filled/shaped/tinted, while I'm blessed with the natural version. So I say embrace it, at least you don't have to spend all your pennies on being fashionable... you're already there! Wink

As a redhead I have loads and I'm not particularly keen on them. I kind of associate them with sun damage to be honest.

I worked from home today (in the garden) and as it has been so beautifully sunny, my face looks like I have been in Australia for a few weeks. Face freckles have now merged into one uber freckle which gives the effect of a rather splendid tan. I did use suntan lotion but guess they won't be beat!

Thanks for all the freckle support - much appreciated! Star

TinklyLittleLaugh I have always wondered where mine came from as my parents always applied sun cream and we only had holidays in the UK so not as if I had been exposed to extreme sun. I need to check old pictures of me to see when they came about but I definitely remember a video of me a years old, Christmas I think and my complexion is freckle free.

The comments on that Buzzfeed link have made me sad. So much self-hatred, so much unkindness.

I rather like my freckles these days, they make me feel like me. Embrace the natural freckles! But not rainbow ones, because seriously, wtf? Confused

I'm covered in freckles, on my face, my shoulders, my arms, my legs! My nan used to tell me they were a sign of beauty and the more you have the more beautiful you are - fuck anyone who disagrees with my nan, she was right! Smile
