Might get crucified for this but....

She won.

She's had a lot to manage a response and a
Plan to deal with since she became PM.

I didn't vote for her. My partner did.

I feel a bit sorry for her.

Anyone else?

OP posts:
Fab39ish · 17/06/2017 09:03

This has been done before op and Yabu.

SquidgeyMidgey · 17/06/2017 09:04

I don't know what people want from her, she has visited and she has put money and time forward to help those in need. It's easy to be the opposition and go round hugging people and say that if you were in power you'd give the moon on a stick because you know you'll never have to actually mobilise that. Equalky why are the people angry at the PM not reacting the same to the Queen? If they're all about inequality and inaction, why not protest at the rich old lady in the big house?

Orlantina · 17/06/2017 09:04

Headed by rich landlords who voted against this bill:

www.theguardian.com/society/2016/jan/12/tories-reject-move-to-ensure-rented-homes-fit-for-human-habitation

I wonder how many Tory MPs are landlords?

SquidgeyMidgey · 17/06/2017 09:05

But that said I don't feel sorry for TM, it goes with the job of leading the government.

SamanthaBrique · 17/06/2017 09:07

Likely whoever would have been PM would have been in the same situation. Not just TM

I disagree. I am hardly a fan of the man, but I'm pretty sure David Cameron would've been there talking to the victims if he'd visited on Thursday.

Hermagsjesty · 17/06/2017 09:08

I think it's wrong that people are calling her a murderer. And I think the focus on her is an unhelpful distraction to the enormous structural inequalities which led to Grenfell.

Grenfell aside, the other thing she has handled very badly is she went to the Queen after the election before she actually had a deal with the DUP. So, we are even more uncertainty and turmoil than we need to be.

I think she needs to resign as soon as possible and just stay on as caretaker Prime Minister until the Tories find a new leader.

MonkeylovesRobot · 17/06/2017 09:09

Orlantina "No excuses".

Apart from the fact it was a security risk for her to visit; not just to her, but to the people there.

As someone who had loved ones working on the site, and friends helping at the rest centres, I am very fucking grateful she didn't add risk, or further risk, to them.

MonkeylovesRobot · 17/06/2017 09:10

SamanthaBrique

Do you think he would have insisted on going even if he was told it was a security risk?

Orlantina · 17/06/2017 09:10

I hope this shocking event has made her question her responses to the housing crisis in this country.

Something her Government and others have dismissed over the years. And her responses in PMQs show how dismissive she has been when people have raised valid concerns.

Orlantina · 17/06/2017 09:13

I am very fucking grateful she didn't add risk, or further risk, to them

Please. What security were they concerned about?

I don't think it was an opportunistic Islamic terrorist. Nor do I believe do YOU think that.
I suspect it was fear of the crowd. Of the people. The people she is the leader of.

Orlantina · 17/06/2017 09:14

So if it was security she was worried about, surely a terrorist could have attacked her when she went to the emergency services?

But no - she was not afraid of terrorism. She's afraid of unscripted meetings of real people.

MonkeylovesRobot · 17/06/2017 09:15

I think terrorism was probably the main concern; the crowds, the donations, the amount of people in the area.

MonkeylovesRobot · 17/06/2017 09:16

"So if it was security she was worried about, surely a terrorist could have attacked her when she went to the emergency services?"

She was well behind the police cordon (which had already been extended several times). Do you think they actually had people standing around a building they were worried would collapse?

Orlantina · 17/06/2017 09:19

I think terrorism was probably the main concern

Really? Terrorist incidents are planned. Not spontaneous.

She is afraid of meeting people. Meeting people who this Government has not listened to and who have been the victims of cutbacks for years.

MonkeylovesRobot · 17/06/2017 09:21

Orlantina Not all terrorist incidents are planned; many abroad are oppurtunitstic. Please remember terrorism doesn't just affect our country

And that we have been told to expect more attacks by Daesh. They have said to use any means to attack us that they can think of.

Lexilooo · 17/06/2017 09:25

Remember when someone said of Michael Howard "there's something of the night about him"? May seems to make him look like a fluffy bunny

HopefulMog · 17/06/2017 09:26

"She's afraid of unscripted meetings of real people."

"I think terrorism was probably the main concern; the crowds, the donations, the amount of people in the area."

If you believe that you believe anything.

"The crowds, the donations, the amount of people in the area."

You sound totally paranoid. Crowds, donations people gathering.... I see community and support you pretend to see danger and terrorism.

Our leaders do not and should not live behind a glass screen, after all, we are still a democratic and open society.

MonkeylovesRobot fear Is the biggest threat to our democracy. Do you think Churchill was afraid? There are two kinds of fear, real and fake.

MonkeylovesRobot posts allude to the latter.

www.alternet.org/fear-america/fear-biggest-threat-our-democracy

"Fear is a big problem for two reasons. First, propaganda and disinformation are used by conservatives and the media to scare people and generate anxiety. The result is that many people are fearful of the wrong things, which makes our society ripe for militarism, spying, and denying people basic rights".

May didn't meet the victims because she is unable to do unscripted interactions with the British public. Whose puppet is she?

Dawndonnaagain · 17/06/2017 10:05

Funny that terrorism put neither the Queen nor her Grandson, and heir to the throne off. Not only did they meet emergency services, but spoke to survivors and their families too. Hmm

HopefulMog · 17/06/2017 10:08

Another u-turn, there will be a government group at the site today. I wonder if the Tories are getting pressure from somewhere. Even the Daily mail ar having a go at them. I wonder if Buckingham Palace might have had a word with May.

Orlantina · 17/06/2017 10:13

I wonder if Buckingham Palace might have had a word with May

A change from when Tony Blair had a word with the Palace....

Floisme · 17/06/2017 10:15

I didn't feel sorry for her in the previous thread and of course there are many others far more deserving of my sympathy. But that's the thing about sympathy - it's not a logical feeling and nor is it something you have to ration in case others go without. It's just a human response. She is now clearly so very out of her depth that it's making me uncomfortable.

Violetcharlotte · 17/06/2017 10:20

There are so many people in the world I feel sorry for. Theresa May is absolutely NOT one of them!

She caused this shambolic state of affairs we're currently experiencing with her own arrogant belief she would win a general election and increase her majority. She's done absolutely nothing to show she has any empathy for how people are feeling at the moment. She needs to go!

OohMavis · 17/06/2017 10:27

The interview last night was genuinely shocking. She looks as though she's cracking, big time.

Definitely hard to watch. Would I choose for her to be under so much pressure? No. Do I enjoy it? No.

I'd love for her to perform well and be a credible prime minister. I mean that. And I'm a Labour supporter.

But I stop short of feeling sorry for the woman. She created this mess, only her. She and her government have created so much misery and pain, the people feeling that are those who should get our sympathy, imo.

FormerlyFrikadela01 · 17/06/2017 10:30

The security risk was fuck all to do with terrorism and every thing to do with a community looking for answers and someone to blame.
Yes she'd likely have received a whole host of shit from people but she's the PM, the main face of our government. Regardless of who really is to blame she owes it to her people to listen to them and hear their anger.

thunderyclouds · 17/06/2017 10:31

'I suggest save your bleeding-heart for the right people.'

Hopeful did you mean to be so rude..... Wink

On a serious note, that was a personal attack. There was nothing bleeding heart about my post and I can assure you I feel far more for other people.
