Might get crucified for this but....

She won.

She's had a lot to manage a response and a
Plan to deal with since she became PM.

I didn't vote for her. My partner did.

I feel a bit sorry for her.

Anyone else?

She did say more money will be made available should it be needed.

She also said she wouldnt call a snap election
she also said the police were scaremongering about the cuts

Weirdly I dont believe this time either Hmm

LouiseBrooks · 17/06/2017 19:34

It will buy clothes, bedding, kitchen equipment, toys, books, furniture, replace IT equipment and mobile phones, pay for new passports, copies of birth certificates etc. Allow people to re-set up home when they get one, get back to some kind of 'normal

£8000 will do all that? Hardly.

Read this article.

Well yes, I agree with that. And I foresee years of legal wrangling as to just who's fault this was which will make any compensation due slow to arrive.

However, this tragedy has already raised thousands, it is going to be a deciding factor in how long TM holds onto power and as a public, the outrage is truly overwhelming. We won't be letting this one go without a fight. I feel positive that money won't be an issue for the victims but it is going to be a long haul to justice.

needsahalo · 17/06/2017 19:44

That's £8k,per person. A lot more for families, obviously.

Not that we should be putting a price on the losses and distress, obviously.

Dawndonnaagain · 17/06/2017 19:58

Still no official help centre

derxa · 17/06/2017 20:18

Maybot strikes again. apart from not emoting at the right time, I think Theresa May is doing her best in terrible circumstances.

KidLorneRoll · 17/06/2017 20:41

Probably the annual bar bill in the house of commons!

2 million less, actually.

Tapandgo · 17/06/2017 22:26

£369 million is being allocated to refurbish Buckingham Palace for one family.

In that context, it's shameful what has been allocated to the Grenfell residents, and shameful £200,000 was denied to put sprinklers in to their homes.

Some lives are cheap, others clearly not.

Boomcack · 17/06/2017 22:34

Agree with poster on here, if the Queen could do it why didn't she. In terms of talking to the victims. It's like she is petrified of normal people, maybe she thinks it's catching

IdontTrusther · 17/06/2017 22:41

I have not read this thread and I imagine the words I am about to write will be written off immediately by so many posters.

I had to go and see her many years ago in a very dire situation in her constituency. She listened to what I had to say. She didn't unlike others who had heard my story, look panicked, or had tears in her eyes, or look uncomfortable or look like she was going to put her arm around me.

She looked like she was thinking of practical, useful ways to help me. And she did.

Shockers · 17/06/2017 23:28

That is good to hear.

I suspect that it what has got her thus far. However, the task before requires much more than listening to constituents in need... it's a whole country, some of whom don't trust her, or her party. There's a lot a stake.

BigYellowJumper · 18/06/2017 00:59

She can be a good MP without necessarily being a good PM.

Artofnoise1 · 18/06/2017 08:26

Even the right wing press have turned on her. The Mail is not happy. I think it'll be over for May pretty soon.

I wonder if she'll shed a little tear like Thatcher when she leaves Downing Street..Smile

Artofnoise1 · 18/06/2017 08:40

Oh and the Times. You live by the sword and all that..

derxa · 18/06/2017 08:55

She looked like she was thinking of practical, useful ways to help me. And she did. I believe you. That's the impression she gives me.

Artofnoise1 · 18/06/2017 09:00

I doubt May has ever held a solid thought in her life.

GloriaGilbert · 18/06/2017 10:06

totally agree.

Interestingly, she's not on the Andrew Marr show this am. Has anyone seen her on any other news outlet?

MyOtherProfile · 18/06/2017 10:11

Interestingly, she's not on the Andrew Marr show this am.
Was she due to be?

GloriaGilbert · 18/06/2017 10:14

No, just me musing.

MyOtherProfile · 18/06/2017 10:15

Ah ok.

Orlantina · 18/06/2017 10:18

I haven't heard her give any interview since the election.

Not on Radio 4, Marr, Peston.....

Has she done anything with the heavyweights?

TheEmojiFormerlyKnownAsPrince · 18/06/2017 10:44

When our house burnt down, it cost about £80000 to replace contents, for 3 people.

8k is nothing!

GloriaGilbert · 18/06/2017 10:45

The only interview I'm aware of is the one with the blond woman, the disastrous one. I've seen only snippets, I couldn't bear to watch it.

Topseyt · 18/06/2017 11:02

Theresa May might be a good MP, and has indeed held the seat of Maidenhead since it was created, I think.

She isn't great socially though, and looks increasingly like a fish out of water in the role of Prime Minister.

I actually wonder whether she is now actually afraid of the role and of what she has taken on.

I would stop short of actually feeling sorry for her though. She didn't have to put herself forward to stand for the party leadership when Cameron resigned. She did it willingly, and with Brexit as the backdrop she would have surely had some idea what a poisoned chalice it would turn out to be.

If I am honest, I really cannot understand why anyone in their right mind would want the job of PM these days.
