People's Assembly

For those of us who are sick and tired and angry and devastated.

yes thats what my dh said

as if the police in london don't have enough to deal with!

But oh no, its all about the 'dispossessed left' who nearly won an election but not quite Hmm

time4chocolate · 16/06/2017 11:56

Bill - I can see what you are saying and agree with your comments. The hypocracy from the left is all over this thread (I have a disabled child too if that makes any difference). I have been told by left leaning posters (not on here I hasten to add) that I obviously don't love/care enough for my DS because if I did I would have voted labour - so the left can kiss my arse!!.

MyBeloved · 16/06/2017 11:58

bill - I was agreeing with you!!!

NoahPinnyon · 16/06/2017 11:59

yes thats what my dh said

Because we care what your DH says Hmm

scaryteacher · 16/06/2017 11:59

Yes Fren, as I understand it, JC stands for Jeremy Corbyn with regards to the Labour leader, not Jesus Christ; though one might be forgiven for thinking otherwise on here at times.

Given he has knocking around for decades I am surprised that no-one has discovered his messianic qualities and policies before now.

Holdme In neither of those cases in Belgium were there protests though. In fact in 2010/11 life here trollied on as usual; no need for a government actually.

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 12:01

Christ. Who has made a death threat on this thread?

It's like right wing whispers. So very very sad that you are all doing to these depths

And that the fan club is backing someone who has accused peaceful marchers of being Nazis

Look at yourselves. Pathetic

CrossWordSalad · 16/06/2017 12:01

Cross Why Is it that important to you? I do know an awful a lot about them

I'm just fascinated at the notion of a political movement that people don't want to admit they are in.

Prey tell. Why are the allegedly formerly left wingers on this thread now so glad they can turn their back on the poor? I've not met any previously left wing activists that arent currently mortified at what is happening

But I guess this is a forum where anyone can make anything up

So your latest technique for "arguing" against pp you disagree with is to call them liars. Ok. Persuasive, I'm sure.

If you are unfamiliar with the phenomenon of people moving from the left to the right as they get older, do have a look at the demographics of the general election. I think you will find it enlightening. (Also read or listen to Christopher Hitchens.)

If you are going to try to imply that anyone who doesn't agree with your politics is "turning their back on the poor" you may want to consider adopting a slightly more sophisticated political analysis. I would have personally done very well out of a Labour victory (two children soon off to university) but I don't think a Labour government would benefit the less well off in our country.

BillSykesDog · 16/06/2017 12:02

Fucks sake. I will leave this.

But the comparison still stands. In the early 30s the Nazis were a group who used intimidating protests during a period of hung parliaments including violent threats and intimidation of the type seen from the left now. They also seized on a fire to make political capital without anybody knowing for sure who was to blame.

You can complain that the comparison offends you as much as you want. But it's very hard to argue against them.

MyBeloved · 16/06/2017 12:02

Bill compared momentum to the brownshirts. I don't disagree.

explodingkittens · 16/06/2017 12:02

I didn't call you a Nazi. I said you had 'Nazi fantasies' - ie you are a fantastist who compares middle-aged women going on a protest march to the most repulsive, murderous ideology ever known in the western world. No mental gymnastics needed.

Right, stepping away now. Got work to do building the fucking gas chambers obviously

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 12:03

Really pathetic.

So sorry you are running scared of ' the left' having a few peaceful marches. How fragile your self belief systems must be

everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 12:04

None of you have been met momentum have you

I can't believe I'm defending them as I ha e many issues with them. But this is just pathetic

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 16/06/2017 12:04

Time4 just becsuse someine said that to you doesnt make what Bill said right.

Shame on you...Its even more stupid agreeing with that if you have a disabled child. You do know what the Nazis did to them right?

MyBeloved · 16/06/2017 12:06

Sadly, I have had dealings with momentum and yes, the parallel between them and the brownshirts is fairly obvious.

You can keep arguing but some of us have our eyes wide open.

It's not a great time to be alive.

scaryteacher · 16/06/2017 12:07

Ever We will await the news reports of the march to see how peaceful it actually is. I am not holding my breath....

makeourfuture · 16/06/2017 12:07

A conspiracy of biscuits.

hackmum · 16/06/2017 12:08

Bill: I hope you are leaving the discussion. You should be ashamed of yourself. You have come out with some pretty nasty comments. At a time when even the right-wing press such as the Times, the Mail and the Telegraph are asking searching questions about who Grenfell fire, you are accusing people of "making political capital" out of it. Does that include the tenants themselves, who are expressing their anger at the council and the management company for their neglect?

So instead of attacking the villains of the piece, you are attacking the very people who want to help and make things better. What do you think that makes you?

notknownatthisaddress · 16/06/2017 12:08

I am not 'running scared' I just find them a bit laughable and pathetic.

frenboop · 16/06/2017 12:08

I have met momentum. I have met members through the unions at work. I have no issue with them personally but not to see that they have an HUGE agenda is a bit idiotic. Would you join an union? I bet most of the middle class hand wringers on my facebook wouldn't and they wouldn't support them in their work environment either.

makeourfuture · 16/06/2017 12:12

HUGE agenda

There is nothing hidden about Momentum's agenda. They state plainly they exist to support Jeremy.

Where is the intrigue?

time4chocolate · 16/06/2017 12:12

Finally - Dont be so bloody insulting.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 16/06/2017 12:15

Don't agree with someone who is directly comparing me to the Nazis then. Thanks.

CrossWordSalad · 16/06/2017 12:15

Shame on you...Its even more stupid agreeing with that if you have a disabled child. You do know what the Nazis did to them right?

Really shameful and disgusting comment.

explodingkittens · 16/06/2017 12:16

would you join a union?

Er, yes? For the second time in this thread I feel compelled to ask, is that actually a serious question?

OP posts:
everthibkyouvebeenconned · 16/06/2017 12:18

I have met momentum. so am a member of the Labour party. I took part in an investigation about them. I have complained to the party about them.

I think I probably know a tinsy bit more than any of you. Where were you all last year then?

You've just jumped on a headline from some rag and extrapolted to Nazism because you are worried your RW dreams are about to be undermined.

scary A march will not cause a riot. The anger on the streets may well do. But I guess looking at that and the reasons for the anger just aren't important
