To ask people to stop swearing so much

Frankly, the language of some of the posters on this site is disgusting and I wonder if they talk like this in front of their children. I also wonder if their parents would be proud of how they post on the internet. Swearing every time isn't big and it isn't clever. It makes people come across as uneducated chavs.

AIBU to ask people to clean up their act and stop swearing?

Jassy, Nina is rather grasping at straws.

Dawndonnaagain · 18/06/2017 16:47

Oh, and throwing in a touch of the plain old spiteful.

RebelRogue · 18/06/2017 17:03

I do have plenty of experience in an iPhone replacing its with it's.

That's actually what happened but I didn't want to burst nina's bubble of superiority.

JassyRadlett · 18/06/2017 17:47

Aye dawn. I know I should ignore but sometimes it's too much fun.

Dawndonnaagain · 18/06/2017 17:49

It's interesting isn't it. One of the things about learning another language is its capacity for improving grammar...

Mesmerised · 18/06/2017 18:14

Unfortunately, most of us in here have to put up with the swearing minority, but why on earth some women on here are so hysterically proud and self-justified about their "right" to swear on MN is totally beyond me!

As for those so intent to point out "We swear and guess what, we're educated too!" GrinGrinGrin Do you think anyone cares? Why would the c word be less offensive because it's typed by someone with 5 degrees? Grin

Your justifications only reveal your insecurities.

Just because swearing is allowed on MN does not mean it's compulsory.

So swear if you feel that strongly about it, but don't fool yourselves about the impression it gives off.

RebelRogue · 18/06/2017 18:17

@Mesmerised well I guess some care since they insist in adding chavs, uneducated, ignorant etc. In their anti swearing protest.

JacquesHammer · 18/06/2017 18:17

Have you RTFT Mesmerised?

The whole point is we don't CARE how were perceived on an anonymous forum. Why would we?

Nina - are you really trying to prove your superiority through the medium of the meme?

nina2b · 18/06/2017 18:19

Meme? It is merely a photograph of a bubble.

Mesmerised · 18/06/2017 18:19

No you don't CARE because you can't see yourselves through other people's eyes and you probably never will.

nina2b · 18/06/2017 18:20

I speak three languages, as a matter of fact.

JacquesHammer · 18/06/2017 18:20

No. I don't care because it's anonymous. I can't really make it any fucking plainer Grin

RebelRogue · 18/06/2017 18:21

It's the bubble of superiority. So perfect and pure and shiny.

nina2b · 18/06/2017 18:22

This ^^

JacquesHammer · 18/06/2017 18:22

Aw Nina bless. So do I. A lot more in common than you'd like to think Grin

Mesmerised · 18/06/2017 18:23

It's anonymous but it still sets a certain tone which will no doubt alienate a lot of people who might otherwise get a lot out if the discussions.
To some it is offensive and threatening.

But never mind, because you DONT CARE.

twattymctwatterson · 18/06/2017 18:28

Cunts... cunts everywhere.

RebelRogue · 18/06/2017 18:28

I speak three languages, as a matter of fact.

So do I. Well 4, but the fourth is too rusty so I don't really count it anymore. Grin

nina2b · 18/06/2017 18:29

Cool!Smile

Dawndonnaagain · 18/06/2017 18:34

Me, too.
Mesmerised, I am not insecure with regard to my language. I suggest you read the thread properly. As for the totally invalid argument of putting people off because some swear, there are other sites.

Mesmerised · 18/06/2017 18:34

When I used to go into men's prisons, 99% of them could acknowledge that bad language could well make other people uncomfortable. They didn't just chant "We don't care" like some silly playground cool girls.

Yet some on here feel the need to wear their swearing like a badge of honour. Very very odd.

Mesmerised · 18/06/2017 18:36

Newsflash - there are other sites for you too Dawn.

JacquesHammer · 18/06/2017 18:38

Rebel I could speak Latin as a 4th at a push but not so much call for it these days Grin

Mesmerised - if people are made uncomfortable by a word on a screen from someone they don't know, they made need to either toughen up a touch or head to a forum where swearing is banned where they surely would be more comfortable.

Rather than, you know, trying to police others.

SideOrderofSprouts · 18/06/2017 18:41

I don't just swear. I enunciate like a proper fucking lady.
