This is the best outcome by miles. No hard brexit. (The city now predicts soft Brexit or even no Brexit!!!) No more crazy ideas by either side. Compromise. Tories given a good slap in the face for this stupid election.

This is the first election day in a long time with a good result!

The chaos is the fault of Cameron and may. Not the electorate.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 09/06/2017 07:44

It looks scary and unworkable be cause the uk is too use to NOT making any concessions and to work with 'my way or the hard way appraoch.

Problem is what is the middle ground?

You have a left wing Labour party and right wing Tory one?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 09/06/2017 07:45

They have just pointed that out on the news. Yes they have done very well but they haven't done enough to form a government either.

The Tories will own the Brexit mess and they will do it with a very weakened hand and internal disputes.

The will of Murdoch and Dacre failed. Wonderful night.

PaulDacresFeministConscience · 09/06/2017 07:45

But there are plenty of moderate Tory backbenchers who aren't conservative with a capital C and who are likely to rebel if the Leadership and the DUP try to ram anything through. Labour is now a credible opposition and the Tories will have to work for every vote, which should mean a more moderate outcome for those who were worried about Brexit, social welfare and care.

roundaboutthetown · 09/06/2017 07:45

The Tories are the masters of instability - they called a referendum at a time when we can't afford the instability caused by not knowing what's happening with our position in the EU; then they continued plunging more and more people into poverty and called another general election at a time they claimed we need stability! Fuckwits!!!

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 09/06/2017 07:46

Has any other parties except the DUP showed willing to form a coalition?

Lib Dems have said they won't form one formally with anyone but would consider working on an issue to issue basis.

time4chocolate · 09/06/2017 07:47

pinkpeppers yes coalitions can work well but that's all dependant on who your entering a coalition with and not ideally 10 days before you are due to enter the most important negotiations that our Country has known.

bertsdinner · 09/06/2017 07:48

If Labour/the others actually formed some sort of loose coalition/government, would they actually be able to do anything or could they be constantly voted down by the Tories/DUP?

Nikephorus · 09/06/2017 07:48

People who think a hung parliament is a good thing, really need to give themselves a damn good shake. We do NOT need the instability that causes. It's the very last thing we need.
^^ This. Everything will be an argument for the sake of it. It's one thing to want open negotiation, it's another to have MPs refusing to support something just because it's been put forward by the other side, and that's what this gives us.

LittleMissCrappy · 09/06/2017 07:49

The fuckwitts are winning I'm afraid. The Conservatives will carry on somehow, Tm will not resign, they will find a way to lie their way into carrying on.

I know some people think this is a great result but it's shite, the Conservatives are still in power, and they will remain in power.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/06/2017 07:49

I am so pleased that the Tories lost their mandate. People finally had a glimpse at what they've actually been doing to the country. I think though they will try and rule as a minority.

MiddleEnglandLives · 09/06/2017 07:50

I think the Lib Dems have been well and truly burned as far as coalitions go.

Anyone know about the SNP? They're virtually Tory-lite from what I hear. They have said 'no' before, but is that likely to hold up in this circumstance?

Please don't let them even consider the DUP. Please please please have some common sense.

histinyhandsarefrozen · 09/06/2017 07:50

no I won't give myself a shake.
I am pleased.

HaudYerWheeshtBawbag · 09/06/2017 07:50

sky news say May has no intention of Hmm quitting

I cannot see how she can continue tbh.

rolopolovolo · 09/06/2017 07:51

I'm sorry but all this anti- Europe shit is hilarious. It's not WWII ffs.

Europe have been our allies for DECADES! Most of the benefits of Europe are pro citizen. May even refused to rule out using British workers in Europe as leverage for the negotiations! She didn't give a fuck about us then.

Now, we're supposed to be shaking with fear about appearing strong to them? Fuck that.

I trust Europe more on Brexit than I do the UK.

MoominFlaps · 09/06/2017 07:51

You have a left wing Labour party and right wing Tory one?

They are SUPPOSED to be left and right wing.

Go form a centrist party if you want one.

PinkPeppers · 09/06/2017 07:51

Plenty of possibilities there.
Minority tory governement that will have to take SNP/DUP/LD/Labour into account when taking decisions. All on a case by case basis.
Coalition of some sort either from Labour or Conservative (with the 'small' parties).
Or even a government that is neither on the right nor or the left, like Macron in france atm.
Possibilities are endless when you actually want to open to them.

What is sure is that TM will NOT be able to carry on her politics as it is now. She has clearly been told that, within a year, her style and her politics have been rejected by the country.
Shortest serving prime minister??

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 09/06/2017 07:52

I think this means that Boris will be PM soon how depressing

I would rather May

Labour will move more to the left now Corbyn has the mandate to do so I doubt the likes of Cooper will be involved in the shadow cabinet and not sure Starmer will keep his position for long

histinyhandsarefrozen · 09/06/2017 07:52

May constantly flip-flops.

FinallyThroughTheRoof · 09/06/2017 07:52

If you think the SNP are Tory lite you need to.listen to a Mhairi Black speech.

MoominFlaps · 09/06/2017 07:52

I won't be giving myself a shake either, I'm delighted JC has stuck it to the disgusting smear campaign against him.

waitforitfdear · 09/06/2017 07:53

Gosh it's going down as the worsted gamble in history isn't it.

Good things are ukip did badly. And the Scots seem mightily pissed off with Nicola, let's have another ref until you agree with me.

Can't assess anything else as it's too early but how can a right wing government possibly cooperate with a left left wing opposition.

Mmmmm interesting times for sure.

PinkPeppers · 09/06/2017 07:54

I'll say it again.
A hung parliament/coalition DOES NOT mean instability.
It DOES mean the need to negociate whihc is VERY different.

If plenty of countries manage to be ruled with hung parliament, why on earth woulod the uk be unable to do so? British peole or politicians arent more dum or incapable tha other countries are they?

fakenamefornow · 09/06/2017 07:55

The Tories will own the Brexit mess

Great news, they 100% deserve to own it. They took a really divisive issue (for some) and made everyone pick a side just to settle a dispute within their own party. They have shown they care nothing for the country and only their own interests.

waitforitfdear · 09/06/2017 07:56

Jc will compromise his ideals as he already has. Whatever else he is hes no fool and he will move more to the centre I think. I hope so anyway or it's terrifying
