So sad that he lost his seat. Really liked him.

The Guardian originally reported on their live tracker that Vince Cable had lost his seat, and then that he won. Sorry again Blush

Yeah thankfully, old Vince is in! Legend Grin

Totally gutted about Clegg though. Party politics aside - a decent, intelligent, good man. A real loss.

MercuryMadness · 09/06/2017 03:22

Vince! Yes! Voted for him and I am delighted.

TheNumberfaker · 09/06/2017 03:25

Any news on Tim Farron?

BabyHamster · 09/06/2017 03:27

I am way too soft for election night, I basically feel sad whenever anyone loses their seat. Whichever party they're from. It's ridiculous of me I know as that's the game they're in. But they always look so sad and disappointed!

I agree it's particularly sad about Clegg. He worked hard. Seems strange he survived the last election but not this one?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 09/06/2017 03:28

Oh thank god! Tim Farron's retained his seat. So happy about that.

RangeTesKopeks · 09/06/2017 03:30

Ah phew!!! I remember they were saying they weren't sure whether Tim Farron would keep his seat.

I feel bad about Nick Clegg too. I think when LD were in coalition with the Tories they were the ones that stopped them wreaking full austerity havoc on the country, but the I-turns he was forced to make on manifesto promises ruined him. I hope he rallies the same way Vince Cable has.

AngeloMysterioso · 09/06/2017 03:31

^ that should obviously say u-turns sleep deprived

DesignedForLife · 09/06/2017 03:31

Gutted, I love Clegg

Mummyoflittledragon · 09/06/2017 03:31

Feel sorry for Nick Clegg. Great politician. Too nice.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 09/06/2017 03:32

Yeah, there were 600 votes in it.

impossibledreams · 09/06/2017 03:33

Listening to the speeches in Sheffield Hallam, I can't believe the constituents have chosen the Labour candidate over Nick Clegg. A prime example of people voting for policy over the best candidate.

SeanSpicer · 09/06/2017 03:34

Yes I am sad re Nick Clegg too.

UterusUterusGhali · 09/06/2017 03:40

Agree, Kuri

I'm pretty sad about it too.
People forget he was in power with Tories so had to make compromises.
He's a good egg.

sticklebrix · 09/06/2017 03:43

I'm sad about Clegg. He was a decent parliamentarian.

metspengler · 09/06/2017 03:45

Crap, I was hoping farron would be out and clegg would be forced to replace him. Clegg is better in every way.

PandaG · 09/06/2017 03:46

Yes, Jared didn't do a great job of his first speech as my MP. I think he was completely shell shocked. I do feel a bit sorry for Nick Clegg.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 09/06/2017 03:47

Even if Tim had lost, Nick wouldn't have replaced him.

He's far too unpopular (which I don't agree with because I thought he saved us from the worst of the Tories during that coalition).

MaidOfStars · 09/06/2017 03:48

No. He was the reason I stopped voting LD. I will not forget the sick feeling in 2010, when I realised what he was doing. In 2017, with hindsight, you can hand wave platitudes. But no. I wanted him gone in 2015.

I agree, however, that he is an excellent parliamentarian and he won't be short for jobs. He needs to go and be Mayor somewhere.

RedHelenB · 09/06/2017 03:49

All he had to do was to deliver a key lib/dem policy of PR. That was always their main manifesto pledge. He failed in that but I agree that he seems like a decent bloke.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 09/06/2017 03:50

And you're entitled to your opinion, just as I am mine.

iffikitty · 09/06/2017 03:51

Ed Davey's back in Kingston, a good local MP.

SteamTrainsRealAleandOpenFires · 09/06/2017 03:57

Good...I'm glad that the back-stabbing, lieing little shit has been deposed. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 09/06/2017 04:00

I don't understand why someone would come on a thread where it is obvious (by the sad face in the title) that people are upset by something and just gloat.

I guess these people weren't on the thread yesterday about not being a dick regardless of results.
