Tory's win, but 314

Mistletoekids · 08/06/2017 23:30

Arghhh the suspense!

BorrowLove · 08/06/2017 23:35

Tonight I will mostly be hitting refresh.

Whoever said Labour would have walked it without Corbyn seems to have no understanding of what has been happening. He's responsible for the massive youth vote. Without him I would have voted differently. He's the reason it's as close as it is!

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 08/06/2017 23:37

I agree Cadibach - whether you liked him or not he gave a real alternative.

Properjob · 08/06/2017 23:40

Yep Corbyn and Labour ran a blinder. #mustnoteatgelnails argh... the tension

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 08/06/2017 23:47

UKIP voters have moved to Conservatives....

gunting · 08/06/2017 23:48

The swings to Tory aren't boding well for marginals

QuiteUnfitBit · 08/06/2017 23:50

Without him I would have voted differently.
Who would you have voted for??? Surely, with a more-moderate leader, you would still have voted Labour? And so would the more centre-ground voters, leading to a Labour landslide.

I know so many people of my age who are left wing, but couldn't vote Labour, because of Corbyn.

Dandandandandandandan · 08/06/2017 23:50

argh why can't we vote overnight and then watch the results during the day?! Don't want to go to bed; have a toddler who will be up at 6 and I leave for work at 7...

HS2whattodo · 08/06/2017 23:52

The Tory results in both Sunderland areas point to the doing well in tight marginals.

chinlop · 08/06/2017 23:52

I voted labour only because of Corbyn.

QuiteUnfitBit · 08/06/2017 23:53

How about Ruth Davidson for TM's replacement Grin

angelcakerocks · 08/06/2017 23:53

cardibach my understanding that Labour could have easily won without Corbyn is based on what I've heard from many people like me who would've voted Labour but for Corbyn. I don't credit Labour's success to Corbyn, more to a dreadful campaign from the Tories. For some reason Jezza seems to have a cult like status among those who do like him though.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 08/06/2017 23:53

Quiteunfitbit - I would have voted Greens if the Labour leader was too much of a Blairite. I would have voted for Burnham because I think he comes across as a genuine guy who often has the people at the forefront of his mind. Burnham listens.

metspengler · 08/06/2017 23:57

Exit polls can be inaccurate.

For all we know at this point we could see Labour trying to form a minority government and pilot the country to ruin as in the 70s, or the conservative's could get a bigger majority and we could be spared the devastating effects a hung parliament will have at this point.

AngeloMysterioso · 08/06/2017 23:58

Tories keep Swindon North but huge swing for Labour!

cardibach · 08/06/2017 23:59

angel my experience is different. Many people voting because of Corbyn.
Whoever asked who would I have voted for - Lib Dem as a tactical vote. I decided to vote with my heart in a fairly solid Lib Dem seat which seems to be pretty close in the actual event.

PumpkinPiloter · 09/06/2017 00:00

*I was asked on my way out. I lied. Ours will definitely be wrong by a margin of at least one.

I don't agree with exit polls. I think they're bloody stupid.*

Someone asked me if I liked oranges. I lied I don't agree with fruits I think they're bloody stupid.

QuiteUnfitBit · 09/06/2017 00:00

I don't credit Labour's success to Corbyn, more to a dreadful campaign from the Tories. I agree! And with that, I'm off to bed! Grin

metspengler · 09/06/2017 00:01

Looks like kippers mostly went to Labour in swindon north. I think we might see that a lot. Police state stuff and the stealing of legacies might not sit well with UKIP as they have a lot of libertarian/liberal voters, and more than a few older voters.

Oysterbabe · 09/06/2017 00:01

Oooo its got interesting with Swindon and Newcastle North result.

Lampie · 09/06/2017 00:04

Really happy to see the swing to Labour in Swindon north. There was a lot of labour presence in the town from Labour over the past few weeks. Hopefully the 11% swing in the north will be replicated in Swindon South and they take it.

BlondeB83 · 09/06/2017 00:09

Exciting! Teresa May has made a massive fuck up calling this election! She's going to end up with less of a majority than she had. What a twat!

Dandandandandandandan · 09/06/2017 00:09

Dear god, shut up Thornberry. DP snoring on the sofa is making more sense!!

angelcakerocks · 09/06/2017 00:11

I'm a labour voter normally but voted Libdem cardibach so we are opposites Grin I'm not extreme left wing though and agree with you that age might be a factor. I'd attribute that to those who remember the 'bad old days' of labour tbh, one of the reasons I dislike JC.
