Birdsbeesandtrees · 08/06/2017 22:18

I think even without a coalition there can be a kind of ..alliance but I don't understand much about this.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 08/06/2017 22:18

Shit Fuck Shit

Is all I have to say right now.

& quite possibly for the next few hours...or days.

Shit Fuck Shit

Brittbugs80 · 08/06/2017 22:18

I wonder how many people are honest when asking who they voted for for an exit poll?!

GladAllOver · 08/06/2017 22:18

The stupid woman has blown it. Strong and Stable indeed.

ScarletForYa · 08/06/2017 22:19

Is a hung parliament a draw? What'll happen now?

(I'm Irish, sorry)

impossibledreams · 08/06/2017 22:19

The pound is down 1% already in the last 18 minutes so not sure why anyone is celebrating the prospect of a hung parliament Hmm

AlpacaPicnic · 08/06/2017 22:19

Will that mean we have to do this all over again?

Huge controversy in my town... thousands of postal votes went missing, people being turned away from polling stations for not being registered despite having their polling cards, people being sent polling cards and postal votes... the whole thing has been a total omnishambles and we are a swing city with a very small Tory majority and a Tory run council so naturally the conspiracy theories and accusations are flying left, right and centre!

I'm not sure I can cope with another round of this, if they declare our result unsafe due to all the issues...

Amanduh · 08/06/2017 22:19

Erm, the exit polls weren't 'very much correct' in the last election. Tories got 17 more than polled and Labour had 7 fewer.

Please just don't give me a Sturgeon coalition

Iwannasnack · 08/06/2017 22:20

It's ok. Peston is about to explain all on itv

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/06/2017 22:20

Small Tory majority would be fine - they can own Brexit and eat themselves alive in fucking it up.

birdsdestiny · 08/06/2017 22:20

I knew i should have voted tory.

LadySalmakia · 08/06/2017 22:20

Meh. Exit polls have been wrong a lot recently and lots of people don't like to admit that they vote Tory.

Don't get your hopes up, fellow lefties. A hung parliament is the best we can hope for but I doubt it'll have happened.

Ceto · 08/06/2017 22:20

How bloody, bloody stupid this would make May look. She spent all that time saying there was no conceivable reason for an election; then she told us we had to have one so as to strengthen her hand for Brexit negotiations. So she hasn't strengthened her hand, and she's effectively told the EU that - which has therefore actually weakened it.

If, and it's a big if, she is honourable, she should resign - because all she has achieved is to make the disaster that Cameron started ten times worse.

SuperBeagle · 08/06/2017 22:21

Why the hell would anyone want a hung parliament?

We had that in Australia a few years ago. It made for an incredibly unstable few years, in which virtually nothing made it through parliament and hostilities simply increased both between the parties and within the parties.

Daft.

MoominFlaps · 08/06/2017 22:21

beagle don't want the Tories to have a majority, simple.

Iwannasnack · 08/06/2017 22:21

The pound nosedived after Brexit and plenty of people celebrated that impossible

twoandahalftimesthree · 08/06/2017 22:21

I'm sick of all these bloody surprises and close calls in elections these days! I just can't take the suspense all night....

GhostofFrankGrimes · 08/06/2017 22:22

Did you see what Brexit did to the pound? And May wants a hard brexit.

Littlecaf · 08/06/2017 22:22

Mrsmadevans

May will have to resign if the exit polls are right as currently she has an overall majority and the exit polls predict she will lose seats. So while the Tories will still be the largest, she'll have lost overall control.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 08/06/2017 22:23

AlpacaPicnic Well considering some Tory MP's face charges on election fraud, I can kind of see why they would think that.

DakotaFanny · 08/06/2017 22:23

What does a hung parliament actually mean please?

beepbeepimasheep · 08/06/2017 22:23

oh god, how can I go to bed now.

notgivingin789 · 08/06/2017 22:23

I'm tempted to stay up but I have the school run and will be heading to work tomorrow .

theduchessstill · 08/06/2017 22:24

Amber Rudd may be in trouble apparently!! Grin

beepbeepimasheep · 08/06/2017 22:24

a hung poll means that the party who are largest in terms of the share of the vote cannot form a government alone and need to go into a coalition, this happened before with the Lib Dems and Tories in the election 6 years ago.
