SNP were emphatic about no deals.

I need to go to bed.....

It's not the despair but the hope that gets you.....

impossibledreams · 08/06/2017 22:45

Surely a coalition government is more democratic because more people have representation with an actual voice in government?

That's true but it's fat lot of good when it comes to votes in Parliament, nothing gets voted through and basically fuck all will get done.

The80sweregreat · 08/06/2017 22:46

I like Ruth, im not a tory.
Scots going tory though is astounding.

QuiteUnfitBit · 08/06/2017 22:49

There's only one thing that people vote for - and that's change, because we always hope things could be better.

peachgreen · 08/06/2017 22:49

The Tories will get a majority imho - exit polls tend to swing to the left - but it will be a smaller majority than anyone could have predicted and in my eyes that's the perfect result. The Tories can deal with the fallout from Brexit, the left can regroup in time for the next GE and in the meantime we left-wingers can take comfort in knowing that more people share our priorities than we might have imagined.

DasPepe · 08/06/2017 22:50

They've polled 30K voters, that's less than 50 per constituency.there is no way it could be right

QuiteUnfitBit · 08/06/2017 22:51

peachgreen I agree with everything you have said.

DesignedForLife · 08/06/2017 22:51

InDubiousBattle - I live in South Wales, and watching Facebook discussions I'm shocked at how many have turned blue, mostly over local council grumbles (and a total lack of understanding how politics work)

I agree in the long run, but I'm worried about how much damage the Tories might be able to do in the next few years particularly re ripping up EU legislation and putting nails in the coffin of the NHS...

GladAllOver · 08/06/2017 22:53

May didn't have to call the election. She was safe in no.10 but wanted a bigger majority. Now she's got a smaller one. Big mistake. Can she survive this?

Marmite27 · 08/06/2017 22:53

No such, the U.K. Has a secret ballot, I think people asking who I voted for to base statistics on is a breach of this.

I always said I'd lie if asked to take part in one to prove the data is flawed.

honeyroar · 08/06/2017 22:53

But all parties must know that things have to get done, Brexit has been triggered and has to be done (even though I didn't want it I know it's too late to stop now).

It's not worth worrying about results until morning, all our exit polls have been wrong lately..

But it's pretty incredible that a party with such a strong lead going up against a man everyone said could never win an election could fuck it up so badly. The Tory party's biggest weakness is their smug arrogance. It bit David Cameron on the backside and it may well get Theresa May too. They need to learn to listen.

Dandandandandandandan · 08/06/2017 22:54

I think may's days are numbered. She has played this appallingly.

Time to take that job overseas and let the corbynistas pay for their own dreams eh?!

gunting · 08/06/2017 22:54

They've polled 30k people leaving polling stations in marginals.

Considering UKIP stood down in marginals to aid the tories, this could be v v v bad news for May!

chinlop · 08/06/2017 22:55

This is a kind of insulting simplification. They were spot on in 2005 and 2010.

22 seats out in 2015.

Usually only around 10-15 seats out. So they obviously ARE fairly accurate.

NoLoveofMine · 08/06/2017 22:55

Whatever happens this is a disaster for Theresa May. The Tories won't get any kind of sizeable majority and it will most probably be lower than the one they have now. She'll surely have to go.

angelcakerocks · 08/06/2017 22:55

It reflects what's going on the country post Brexit really I reckon i.e. chaos!

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 08/06/2017 22:56

GladAllOver I hope not, if there is a Tory Government I would prefer a leader who is fiscally conservative but socially more liberal than the party has been for the past 7 years....I know this is clutching a straws and if she goes she will probably be replaced by Gove or Boris, but one can hope.

InDubiousBattle · 08/06/2017 22:57

What if May resigns and we end up with Boris! Shudder.

The80sweregreat · 08/06/2017 22:58

Boris for PM? What he has wanted for years. His sister said it years ago.

harderandharder2breathe · 08/06/2017 22:58

Hope it's wrong but the polls tend to underestimate Tory votes rather than overestimate so guessing the Tories will still win whether they have a majority or not Sad

I suppose losing the majority will hopefully lessen some of the worst evil of the Tories but I'm not holding my breath

DesignedForLife · 08/06/2017 22:59

Oh good grief anyone but Boris!

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 08/06/2017 23:00

I think I would walk off a cliff if we had Boris, he's like Trump's smarter posher cousin - which almost sounds like a compliment.

Raggydolly3 · 08/06/2017 23:00

The exit polls have been pretty much bob on, it's the opinion polls that have been far off

QuiteUnfitBit · 08/06/2017 23:02

I doubt Boris would stand, because he likes glory, and there's no glory to be had in Brexit.
