Or are any Tory voters actually disabled and in receipt of pip?
Just interested to find out.

Of course its a bloody crime. I didnt say it wasnt. Its all kinds of wrong.

A friend of mine has epilepsy and used to work in retail. EVERY time she went for an interview and disclosed it she didnt get the job.

The last 3 jobs she has had in the last ten years she didnt disclose it at interview.

Employers can and will discriminate. But proving it and having the money to challenge it at tribunal is another matter. My friend doesnt drive btw.

TigerShark · 08/06/2017 15:10

The driver of the bin Lorry, Harry Clarke, subsequently went on to drive a car - this was after he had killed six people and injured 15. That had nothing to do with work.

HelenaDove · 08/06/2017 15:10

She is a hospital cleaner now.

HelenaDove · 08/06/2017 15:11

Then hes a selfish tosser.

TigerShark · 08/06/2017 15:13

"EVERY time she went for an interview and disclosed it she didnt get the job. "

And I've had the opposite experience - I've always disclosed and I have 100% track record at interview to employment. You also don't have to disclose epilepsy at job interviews unless you are directly asked.

Your friend shouldn't be driving, and obviously knows she shouldn't be driving. I am glad she can see sense in not endangering the lives of others by doing so. However, this has nothing to do with government politics - it has been like this for several years (at least 15).

There aren't enough "rich people" to tax for the freebies.

We've reached a very low point when support for the disabled is classed as giving "freebies".

dontcallmelen · 08/06/2017 15:21

@Bombardier haven't we just😥

sashh · 08/06/2017 15:23

Did you read my point above that I think we will end up with no welfare state or NHS if we don't extract ourselves from the EU Morphene?

If the Tories are in power tomorrow I won't live long enough to see Brexit.

It does feel like 1930s Germany, ignore what is being done to disabled people because the economy is more important.

DJBaggySmalls · 08/06/2017 15:34

If disabled and unemployed people are 'freebies' its only because the fucked up system prevents us from doing any work at all.
A Citizens Wage would allow many of us to contribute a few hours when we can. But Tories would have to let go of the dog in the manger attitude to permit it.

Dawndonnaagain · 08/06/2017 16:48

This is interesting. Not the bit that says based on legislated plans. It was compiled after the 2016 budget.

NoLotteryWinYet · 08/06/2017 16:53

the tories are clearly going for low corporation tax to encourage companies to locate here after brexit. I'm not sure we need to cut it quite so much to do that but that doesn't mean raising it back to 26% by 2020 when Brexit kicks in IS a good idea.

The other thing is that many countries have more exemptions that we do in their corporation tax - it's a complicated question. My firm is in East Germany and they give out very generous grants to companies for job creation for example.

Dawndonnaagain · 08/06/2017 16:55

They are to wrapped up in notions of identity politics and multiculturalism.
Yeah, that Keir Starmer QC, couldn't negotiate his way out of a plastic bag. Hmm
What tosh, honestly, absolute tosh. What you mean is they're quite reasonable wrapped up in ensuring fairness and equality. Not to the detriment of anything else, alongside it. Why you have a problem with that is beyond me.

Hillingdon · 08/06/2017 17:09

It has been proved time and time again that if you lower taxes people have more money in their pockets to spend, this results in more jobs being created. At a certain point if you tax people too highly they will literally leave the country. So, you wont get any taxes from them!

We have almost full employment, mortgage rates at an all time low yet people are looking to bankrupt us by voting Labour. I really just don't understand. There will be NO money for all these extras that JC is committing to.

Who was it who left the note 'there is no money left'??

These posts are quite crass on a thread where people have suffered real hardship due to austerity. There are a million other threads to argue about it on.

So you don't think we have an issues in this country with Islamist extremist ideology spreading into parts of the Muslim community? You don't think that promoting muticulturalism over integration might have helped this? You haven't read the Jay and Casey reports into the Asian grooming gangs in Rochdale and Rotherham and the failings in how the Labour councils and politicians dealt with them?

The problem is when you go down that root you don't get equality and fairness, as the girls who were victims of the grooming gangs could tell you.

mumtotwoplustwo · 08/06/2017 17:27

I have a relative that is long term disabled to the highest degree. Despite having several hundred thousand pounds in the bank he is entitled to claim about £700 per month in DLA and ESA despite living in a care home where everything is paid for. The only things he has to buy are toiletries, clothes and haircuts plus obviously any non essential purchases. How can that be right? He can't be the only person that gets this money when it isn't needed. DLA and ESA should be means tested.

Hmm
Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 17:30

Can't even be bothered arguing with such hyperbolic crap.

Leaderwithsoul · 08/06/2017 17:31

And mum to two your relative gets DLA and ESA.living in a care home. Hmm

Dawndonnaagain · 08/06/2017 17:37

mumtotwo - bollocks. Complete and utter poppycock.

CrossWord Go read up on logical fallacies.

The election is almost over. I cannot be arsed arguing. The fact is that there are disabled people suffering and dying because of Tory Party Policy. That's all there is to it.

PlayOnWurtz · 08/06/2017 17:43

And disabled people suffered and died under Labour - talking personally under Labour I had no access to dla or any form of support.
