Sorry if there's already a thread about her latest cringeworthy interview but I couldn't find one... here she was on sky new last night, clearly having failed to read the police report she was there to discuss:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731086/shadow-home-secretary-diane-abbott-car-crash-interview-sky-police-security-london-bridge-attacks-terror/amp/

I like corbyn and what he stands for, but I can't give him my vote with these buffoons around him!

Here's one Labour councillor's opinion on JC

Just posts and never answers

hillingdon

Just the same as you had kids at uni and another two starting sept.

No way vote for this present labour car crash.

Feel sorry for Diane Abbott. As other people have said, she was good on Daily Politics for years and had no concerns about being in a studio. She knew all about TV since I believe she was a researcher/reporter for TV-am way back when. She's clearly very bright if a good degree from Cambridge is evidence. Interviewers were only asking something she as a potential Home Secretary should be on top of a brief of and she seems to be a quick study - especially given Manchester and London. So something must be wrong.

So I don't think her problems are a Murdoch plot.

Not convinced Thornberry is any good - this was the woman who posted a photo of a white van in front of a union jack home with a sneer. Twitter isn't owned by Murdoch but people were pretty quick to condemn her then.

I'll be reading policies hard before I vote. But I would like competent people if there are any.

Livelovebehappy · 06/06/2017 18:50

Grumpoldbag: politics is ruthless and brutal. You have to be tough and you have to be capable and knowledgeable about the area you are working in. Abbott gets paid a lot of money for doing what she's does and if she isn't up to the job she's had every opportunity to resign and take a role more suitable to her capabilities. Maybe she would be okay on the back benches? To say she is being bullied is ridiculous; all high profile Politicians are picked at and quizzed aggressively every day. Are you seriously saying we should gives her an easy ride when she is so obviously out of her depth? If she can't take the flack associated with being in politics, then she should get out.

Heratnumber7 · 06/06/2017 18:50

I think Diane is ill. All the journos who've written mocking articles about her are going to feel dreadful when it comes out that she is medically unwell.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/06/2017 18:54

I doubt it.
If she is ill she shouldn't be working .

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 18:55

Growth has been shown to produce high tax revenues. Labour's manifesto focuses on growth. The Tories have no such plans.

Fl0ellafunbags · 06/06/2017 18:57

I think Diane is ill

I agree.

Heratnumber7 · 06/06/2017 18:59

Some kind of thyroid deficiency maybe. She's been so out of character lately.

Bambamrubblesmum · 06/06/2017 19:02

If she is ill she should step aside. She has to be fit to do the job not limping along.

I very much doubt any journos will feel bad. She'll probably face fresh criticism for not being responsible enough to step down.

Any leaning I had towards labour has dissipated with the Diane Abbot debarcal.

I think she's just cost labour the election tbh.

Justanotherlurker · 06/06/2017 19:07

Labour's manifesto focuses on growth.

All manifestos focus on growth, that is the neo liberal ideology that is the globalised economy.

Both tory and labour are hoodwinking the general electorate, labour want to kick the can down the road onto our children while cons want to try and get it somewhat under control now.

Justanotherlurker · 06/06/2017 19:16

I think Diane is ill

I think its a bit of a mix between being ill and a liability, the former being something not to serious and more of the latter

Two4One2017 · 06/06/2017 19:23

Make - give us some examples of Labour's growth plans for the private sector

waitforitfdear · 06/06/2017 19:25

She's clearly a massive liability as home sec!! She's not running for carnival bloody queen

user1471517623 · 06/06/2017 19:27

waitforitdear we're not hero worshipping Corbyn we're worshipping the possibility of creating a more just society for our kids to grow up in. If it was May leading Labour with the same views we'd be backing her instead. Surely that's obvious.

donquixotedelamancha · 06/06/2017 19:31

"Corbyn cannot replace her as there is absolutely no one else in the Labour party that will work for him. If he wins the country is going to be run by literally the dregs of the party. God help us."

If he wins he will be unassailable (unless he screws up royally). He already has massive support from the rank and file. He will have achieved a seemingly unimaginable victory, negating the main complaint of the Blairites- that he can't win. The right wing of the party will fall in line and the ambitious, competent MPs will que up to join the cabinet.

I can't see that Diane Abbott will be Home Secretary if they win. I think she'll get some party role to save face.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 19:41

labour want to kick the can down the road onto our children while cons want to try and get it somewhat under control now

This actually just the opposite of the truth - and a persistent Tory lie. Debt is skyrocketing under the Tories.

By continuing with austerity, they strangle growth, thus leading to more debt.

Justanotherlurker · 06/06/2017 19:44

@donquixotedelamancha

Agree, people will be lining up for front bench if labour manage to win, puts JC in a difficult position as rumours are that its obvious Abbott is a liability, he cant say that she wouldn't be home sec now if they win and if he shifts her around in the hypothetical scenario of a win on thursday then it's not going to look good either is it.

0nline · 06/06/2017 19:49

he cant say that she wouldn't be home sec now

I think the Massive Clanger Two linked to might turn a can't into a can.

Justanotherlurker · 06/06/2017 19:49

It is not a tory lie, you still seem to be ignoring the deficit while you keep parroting the "muh tories are increasing debt" narrative.

Labour would increase the debt and deficit with their manifesto, maybe it's because your an american tankie, but get past page 2 of the momentum handbook

0nline · 06/06/2017 19:56

It's in the mirror now. If it is true, it is rather the can of worms.

Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott appears to have been caught out by a phishing hoax by a notorious email prankster.

The Labour MP, who would as Home Secretary have ultimate responsibility for cybersecurity, apparently replied to a chain of emails apparently sent by Labour spin doctor Seumas Milne, discussing her withdrawal from a series of events due to illness.

How would you compare this with the recent US elections, Make?
What did the candidates there say in terms of economic growth?
