Sorry if there's already a thread about her latest cringeworthy interview but I couldn't find one... here she was on sky new last night, clearly having failed to read the police report she was there to discuss:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731086/shadow-home-secretary-diane-abbott-car-crash-interview-sky-police-security-london-bridge-attacks-terror/amp/

I like corbyn and what he stands for, but I can't give him my vote with these buffoons around him!

Claire the witch.. let me guess who you are voting for Hmm

SenseiWoo · 06/06/2017 15:20

It is true that our current Home Secretary is not doing the job. We know that.
The first job....the very basic first job of government is to keep the people safe.
They are just not doing that job. Not when they are cutting resources.

If you are saying the decision to cut resources was wrong and irresponsible, then I agree with you. On the other hand, if you are saying that the mere fact that there have been terror attacks demonstrates that the government of the day is incompetent, then I can't agree with you.

I don't know how well this Govt has performed. However I do think that preventing terrorist attacks across an entire country is a task of massive, massive complexity. I also think it is possible to do everything that could humanly be done to combat terrorism and still have some terrorists manage to complete attacks.

clairethewitch70 · 06/06/2017 15:21

Maybe The Greens, Plaid Cymru, SNP, Conservatives, Lib Dem - but certainly not Corbyn.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 15:22

I suppose you want mass internment for anybody who looks slightly dodgy or likes certain facebook posts do you

Not at all. We need more resources poured into community police work. Resources that have been cut by the Tories.

Saucery · 06/06/2017 15:25

make, do you seriously think that in the case of another terrorist attack DA would be able to react in a timely and appropriate manner? Because going purely off her record in recent months I very much doubt it. Let alone take on board reports and strategies from relevant organisations and make measured decisions, as she plainly either can't remember what's in them or doesn't bother to read them.

Two4One2017 · 06/06/2017 15:26

Confirmation that Abbott will be Home Sec on Friday

www.politicshome.com/news/uk/political-parties/labour-party/jeremy-corbyn/news/86384/jeremy-corbyn-abbott-mcdonnell-and

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 15:28

still not answering my question then make?

cant take you seriously anymore if you wont admit that you are working for Labour Party HQ (or whatever Momentum call it - socialist hub perhaps?)

How are we going to pay for all of these things that you are going to increase make?

and really, its very distasteful to try and blame a government any government for an act of terrorism on home soil. we know the 3 people who did it - and none of them as far as I know are party members.

do you think people are going to trust a home secretary who has no grip on her brief and a PM who is a lifelong CND member but has also shared platforms with terrorists and their sympathisers?

as for decrying what the sun says, how terrrrribbbly middle class. its the most read newspaper so you might not like it but a lot of people do and their vote counts for exactly the same as yours boop. or do you believe that everyone is equal but some are more equal than others.

LukesDiner · 06/06/2017 15:29

She's my MP. I just hope that on Thursday people of Hackney North remember that she went against their wishes and voted against their desire to remain in the EU. I have met the Lib Dem candidate, a bright young man who is in it for all the right reasons and will be a voice of reason and enthusiasm to make things work for the people of Hackney. He gets my vote, anyway.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 15:29

make, do you seriously think that in the case of another terrorist attack DA would be able to react in a timely and appropriate manner?

The problem is not Diane's or Rudd's "reaction"....give the police the resources they need. Resources they need to get to the problems before violence erupts and lives are lost.

The Tories have cut police resources.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 15:33

there you go again Make!!

paragraph 1 - don't answer the question put in any direct way then onto Paragraph 2 where you tell us what the nasty tories have done.

what a winning formula!

answer the question. who do you work for?

of course their reaction is important. you moan about the actions of tory MPs and then in the next breath tells that they aren't in fact that important.

still looking for that grip for you - will pass it along when I find it!!

Saucery · 06/06/2017 15:35

DA hadn't a scooby about what resources she might need, so you're defence of her there is misplaced, make. Not.A.Clue had she about policing numbers or cost to make them adequate.
Also, don't underestimate the need to instil confidence in the electorate at times like this, which she most certainly isn't doing. She appears ill, she appears unreliable. We deserve better than that, we are not children who can be patted on the head and told that Jeremy will make it all ok and he'd always choose the best person for the job. It's obvious he hasn't for Home Sec and it calls into question his judgement given their past together.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 15:38

Make doesn't have a single answer, mummy. These threads have proven that beyond doubt.

Ah, but the Tories have poor answers!

Ah, but the tories' answers kill kittens!

Boopboopboop · 06/06/2017 15:38

mummymeister- calm down! 'Who do you work for?'!

citroenpresse · 06/06/2017 15:38

LukesDiner How do you feel it is in Hackney and Stoke N re the LibDem vote? Do you think LibDems really have a chance?

Saucery · 06/06/2017 15:40

It's beyond me why people spend so much time defending the front bench Labour instead of getting fucking angry at the travesty the party has become. I've spent the last few years willing them to give me the incentive to vote for them again. I wouldn't even ask for a manifesto I agreed with completely, just some inkling that they could do the jobs they had and could have in Govt.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 15:47

We should not be "reacting" to terrorism. We should be on the front foot. Give the police the resources to dismantle these operations.

OCSockOrphanage · 06/06/2017 15:50

On another matter, SKY TV have just announced the public has been asked to stay away from Nore Dame.

Abitofaproblem · 06/06/2017 15:51

Totally.

I don't understand why Diane Abbott is at Oxford Circus 20 mins before her scheduled interview. She might be ill or she might be told to be ill but this sickie is not well organised.

OCSockOrphanage · 06/06/2017 15:51

Notre Dame, the cathedral, in Paris... obviously, but mistyped.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 06/06/2017 15:51

Why do people vote for Dianne Abbott?
I just don't see how anyone can cast a vote for her.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 15:53

Chardonnay - I don't think they would. If she had anything other than the safest of seats, she'd have been out on her incompetent arse a long time ago.

OCSockOrphanage · 06/06/2017 15:53

Gunshots, and apparently an attack on a man, with a hammer. It's also on BBC breaking news.

citroenpresse · 06/06/2017 15:56

Ok Two4One that's the piece I looked at too. I didn't see the ITV interview to which it is taken from but that piece is all a bit vague about 'top teams' etc. A 'signal' that they will get jobs is the most this report says. Personally see 0 chance in Abbot getting a front bench position given recent events.

NoLotteryWinYet · 06/06/2017 15:58

well I'm angry saucery that's why I'm not voting for Corbyn and his militant mates. If I was even remotely wavering, the way Coyne was kicked out of his job for daring to challenge JC's mate McCluskey put the nail in the coffin.

This is the sort of thing we can expect more of if this labour group got in:

www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jun/02/unite-legal-challenge-len-mccluskey-gerard-coyne-calls-for-poll-rerun

*Coyne was suspended from his job as the most senior union official in the West Midlands before the votes had even been counted. He received a letter warning that he had brought the union into disrepute during the campaign to lead Unite, hours after the ballot boxes for the election had closed.

Coyne’s allies allege that most union organisers from his Sandwell branch office have been suspended or put under investigation by the union.*

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 15:59

boop - I am self employed. I run my own business and employ a number of staff. its a niche business so cant say what it is without outing myself - there aren't many of us doing it basically.

my point is there is a formula here being adhered to by certain posters of which make is poster in chief.

I have asked make several direct questions and just like Labour, he/she cant answer them so doesn't!
