To think people who would otherwise vote for corbyn may not because of Diane Abbott?

Sorry if there's already a thread about her latest cringeworthy interview but I couldn't find one... here she was on sky new last night, clearly having failed to read the police report she was there to discuss:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731086/shadow-home-secretary-diane-abbott-car-crash-interview-sky-police-security-london-bridge-attacks-terror/amp/

I like corbyn and what he stands for, but I can't give him my vote with these buffoons around him!

OP posts:
citroenpresse · 06/06/2017 14:40

She should have taken that decision for herself and now it seems she is.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 14:43

citroen since you are too lazy to read the full thread and my previous responses here we go again.

she is a long standing supporter and friend of JC. he has promoted her to this position because of this. they go back many many years.

Either he shows himself to be the loyal nice guy with principles and keeps her in post as a reward for her past and on going support. or he sacks her and who knows she might have something on him.

no ones post as a govt minister is safe. no ones. not in any party. so whether this party or that party has confirmed a shuffle or not is totally irrelevant. anyone who has followed politics for the past 40+ years can work that one out surely.

PortiaCastis · 06/06/2017 14:44

Christ the nastiness on this thread is incredible

LadyinCement · 06/06/2017 14:45

But she could be Home Secretary on Friday! Her own party are letting her down as much as the other side are criticising her. And, of course, the country expects a Home Secretary in evidence.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 14:52

I agree Monkey. But if she is ill and so ill that she cannot attend meetings in her official capacity, then why has she not been properly signed off sick and given the support that she needs.

I agree LadyinCement - her own party has failed in its duty of care for her.

all of that aside - we cannot wake up on Friday and find out she is Home secretary. she is not up to the job for whatever reason. if its temperorary say so please Labour HQ and if its permanent then give her the help and support she needs and move her on.

is she even fit to stand for election?

citroenpresse · 06/06/2017 14:53

mummymeister Someone (and I thought it was you) said that JC had 'confirmed' his front bench. I thought all the later posts talking about 'she could be Home Secretary on Friday' were in relation to that. I can't find any evidence for that view at all.

Who knows she might have something on him This is such a revolting way to talk about politics. Am out of this thread.

TheMonkeyAndThePlywoodViolin · 06/06/2017 14:54

Maybe we will hear she is stepping down.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 14:57

politics is nasty citroenpresse. People wheel and deal all the time - you speak in favour of my pet project and I will vote for yours.

all the way from the parish and town councils at the bottom up to Parliament.

and if you add in political allegiances and party memberships its even worse.

did the romans have the right idea (in part) Throw everyone out completely and no one allowed to serve more than one term. would certainly mean no more jobs for life in politics and make it a bit more interesting.

Hillingdon · 06/06/2017 14:58

Hold on, whether someone is gay, blue, black or bright pink is not the issue. If they cannot do the role they should be out! You cannot keep someone in a position to make your diversity stats look good.

DA uses her race time and time again, she speaks to people as though we are idiots. She cannot prepare for a key interview even when she is on the radio and you cannot see what she has written down in front of her. Its as though they have picked someone off the street and told them to pretend to be the HS NOW and take questions from Andrew Marr.

She is ill prepared for any interviews (which is inexcusable at this key time) so the Labour party have hustled her away. God forbid she comes back on Friday as HS.

Mumofone1972 · 06/06/2017 15:00

user1487175389 mummymeister that's not very inclusive of you. Why shouldn't someone with mental health problems be able to work if they want to? Of she felt unwell enough to go on sick leave I imagine that would be her decision and hers alone

Are you for real - this our country that these people are potentially in charge of during the most uncertain time in my memory. Let us not forget why there have been cuts since 2010 Liam Bynre "I'm afraid there is no money left". Let us remember how that money was squandered during the Bliar years Derry Irvine Lord Chancellor £650k refurb on a grace and favour apartment £60k wallpaper anyone? I know lets cash in our gold reserves - where did we put them Gordon??

SenseiWoo · 06/06/2017 15:00

I have to disagree with all those saying the Oxford Circus tube pic proves Abbott is perfectly well. She may or may not actually be unwell, I don't know. But she looks bloody awful in that photograph.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 06/06/2017 15:02

I do wonder that that phone call was about.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 15:02

...and if she is ill, why is she still at work?

Monkey - do you know something we don't?

Justanotherlurker · 06/06/2017 15:03

I have to disagree with all those saying the Oxford Circus tube pic proves Abbott is perfectly well.

I agree, she may be ill, she may have another migraine?
She seems to be wearing the same outfit from last nights car crash interview so she probably pulling a sickie?

No one is really going to know

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 15:06

It is true that our current Home Secretary is not doing the job. We know that.

The first job....the very basic first job of government is to keep the people safe.

They are just not doing that job. Not when they are cutting resources.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 06/06/2017 15:08

Is that a review or is the review coming later?

clairethewitch70 · 06/06/2017 15:09

Jeremy Corbyn interview

www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731215/jeremy-corbyn-arab-tv-interview-jihadis-return-home/

Saucery · 06/06/2017 15:12

That's by the by, make. DA can't even make her way through a basic interview right now, for whatever reason. I am not really interested in her reason - I want to know that come a change in Govt on Friday the Home Secretary is capable of reading relevant reports and reacting coherently to them.

Bluebeedee · 06/06/2017 15:12

Are we supposed to take an article from the sun seriously??!

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 15:13

With the current Government we know that they are incapable. No need to guess or ponder.

Justanotherlurker · 06/06/2017 15:14

The first job....the very basic first job of government is to keep the people safe.

You keep trying to politicize this line through multiple threads, trying to insinuate that Labour would have prevented this attack you have yet to answer how, as has been pointed out counter terrorism funding has massively increased under Cons and some the slippery slope of internet restrictions have been done on there watch.

You fail to see that France with more police per capita than the UK also suffered attacks, all you are doing is just parroting the same soundbites that you apparently despise others for doing.

I suppose you want mass internment for anybody who looks slightly dodgy or likes certain facebook posts do you? I didn't realise you had such a right wing streak.

M0rty · 06/06/2017 15:15

Oh no, is she at it again? Utterly cringe worthy. YANBU!!

clairethewitch70 · 06/06/2017 15:15

Its a video of an interview for an Arab tv station, watch it. This guy might be in charge of our national security come Friday.

Cakeahoy · 06/06/2017 15:15

Anyone, labour or tory, linking 'The Sun' articles I'm amazed they manage to get the correct date on there should be ejected from the country, using a canon.

Which party manifesto is closest to that?

Grin
clairethewitch70 · 06/06/2017 15:17

That is really rude cake In order to make an informed choice we need to see all relevant sides.
