Sorry if there's already a thread about her latest cringeworthy interview but I couldn't find one... here she was on sky new last night, clearly having failed to read the police report she was there to discuss:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/news/3731086/shadow-home-secretary-diane-abbott-car-crash-interview-sky-police-security-london-bridge-attacks-terror/amp/

I like corbyn and what he stands for, but I can't give him my vote with these buffoons around him!

OP posts:

I think she will sway people away. Its a question of competence and she appears just completely unable to grasp the basics.

He needs to sack her today! Or she should do the decent thing and resign for the good of the party.

bruffian · 06/06/2017 10:51

That Steve Bell cartoon is fucking horrible. I hope he's ashamed of himself.

Shimmer3000 · 06/06/2017 10:51

Thank you OP. I really want to give JC a chance but Abbot is incompetent.

GerdaLovesLili · 06/06/2017 10:51

Is this real ?

To think people who would otherwise vote for corbyn may not because of Diane Abbott?
Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 10:51

In response to people saying it wasn't sexist - would a similar cartoon have been drawn with Blair and bush?

(Actually a bit of sick came into my mouth just picturing it!)

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 10:54

GerdaLovesLili I really really hope it isn't. Please someone - Amy, makeourfuture, anyone - come along and tell me that this isn't DA poster.

LadyinCement · 06/06/2017 10:54

Why does House of Cards bother? There's more than enough intrigue in British politics.

It will be just like Brexit if there is a Labour win. Someone waking up Diane Abbot at 4.45am with the news they've won and her saying, "I'm not going in!""

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 10:56

It's a fake poster.

I do think she has said racist things but that poster is v clearly not genuine. I think it was a BNP thing? Did the rounds a few years ago!

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 10:59

thank you Dan.

amyshepherd · 06/06/2017 11:01

I know many aren't fans of Russell.. but this is a wonderful reading of an article he recently wrote:

C8H10N4O2 · 06/06/2017 11:03

Diane Abbott was due to be on WH this morning and was replaced by Emily Thornberry - Labour HQ say she is ill.

The Diane I've seen over the past few weeks/months is a pale imitation of the woman I've watched over the years. Love her or hate her she was always a sharp and able performer and I admired her for fighting her way to the top against racism and sexism (not least in the LP). I don't know if she is ill, I do know she has always been the right's favourite target as a black woman on the left of the LP she combines three of the things they hated when she started out.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 11:04

I think that's quite an interesting view, C8. You think people dislike her because she's a WOC and not because she's a steaming hypocrite or because she has tweeted racist things or said racist things? Really?

bruffian · 06/06/2017 11:05

Diane Abbot is a racist hypocrite. Those are the two things she combines that I hate.

However, I do think she is being used as a scapegoat here. Either to blame when Labour lose, or to put off voters so that Labour DONT win and therefore have to admit 75% of their manifesto will never happen.

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 11:07

C8H10N4O2 - your post is incredibly offensive. this isn't about racism, sexism or anything else fgs.

Its about a person in a position of power who does not know and cannot do their job.

are you suggesting that because she is a black woman we all ought to cut her some slack and let her be incompetent.

do you hate Teresa May because she is a woman because take a look at your own party - never had a female leader and the torys have had 2.

makeourfuture · 06/06/2017 11:08

Should you request the poster be taken down now?

bruffian · 06/06/2017 11:09

Momentum are misogynist. They would never let their Labour have a female leader. Look at how appallingly they treated Stella Creasy.

endofthelinefinally · 06/06/2017 11:11

migraine could easily be a mini stroke. She does come across like a person who has had a few of these.
I have never liked her but she does look very unwell. Possibly on steroids for a long term condition.
(I am on steroids for a neurological condition myself and the side effects are horrible).

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 11:12

makeourfuture - perhaps you are new to MN. Click report and you can request this. I have.

CowParsleyNettle · 06/06/2017 11:13

I thought Emily Thornberry was great on Woman's Hour this morning. (Diane Abbott 'called in sick')

deeedeee · 06/06/2017 11:13

It beggars belief to me that mumsnet seem to think that personalities are important in this election. if any of them really were totally incompetent they wouldn't be where they are. There are massive teams of people working with them anyway that do all the work and make all the decisions. For pity's sake, have none of you seen the Thick of it at least?

Surely a couple more important things to discuss are

Why people still want to vote for Theresa May when the Police cuts she made as home secretary have contributed to the terror attacks we are experiencing? The Manchester bomber had been reported to police, he was even on telly (Jihadi's next door) but the cuts to policing meant that he slipped through the net. Why do you think the Conservatives are competent still?

Why people still believe Labour are economically incompetent when their costed manifesto has been endorsed by 129 leading economists and Stephen Hawkings and Noam Chomsky?

IloveBanff · 06/06/2017 11:13

C8H10N4O2 "Diane Abbott was due to be on WH this morning and was replaced by Emily Thornberry - Labour HQ say she is ill."

The illness must've been very sudden indeed, she looked fine shortly before www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/diane-abbott-pulls-out-of-womans-hour-debate-at-short-notice-a3557791.html

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 11:14

She's been photographed at Oxford Circus tube (not for the faint hearted first thing in the morning!) just before pulling out. She may or may not have ongoing health issues. But suddenly taken so ill that she couldn't do the woman's hour talk? Yeah right.

www.standard.co.uk/news/politics/diane-abbott-pulls-out-of-womans-hour-debate-at-short-notice-a3557791.html%3Famp

mummymeister · 06/06/2017 11:15

If she is too ill to vote and too ill to represent her brief then why has she been kept in this position. Why has she been put in front of the cameras yet again after the last time.

its unfair on her - to put her up for something where she can become the subject of ridicule.

if you aren't fit to do your job then you should be off sick on medical grounds. same as everyone else. either you are fit or you aren't. anyone remember Mo Mowlam?

Corbyn will never, ever make her stand down. they are the closest of friends.

Dandandandandandandan · 06/06/2017 11:15

Not sure there's much point taking down the poster when it's all over the internet. Surely it's better to leave it up with posts explaining that it's bollocks - most websites don't bother to clarify that!

squashyhat · 06/06/2017 11:18

I haven't RTFT so I hope someone has already pointed out that you cannot vote for either Corbyn or Abbott (or not as the case may be) unless you live in one or other constituency.
