To think the new version of Dirty Dancing looks absolutely crap! (Spoilers I guess even though I haven't seen it either)

Just saw this advertised as a UK premier for Channel 5 so went on YouTube to see some videos. Now, remakes are generally crap but AIBU to think that they should actually make an attempt to surpass the original? Here is the dance to the finale in the original version:

Even if you're not a fan of the original at least it is talented dancing and an exciting scene to watch!

now to me the following is just lacklustre and pointless and uneventful compared to the original. It's just amateurish and crap, simple dancing! It's not even like I'm a huge fan but when I saw it I was utterly bored (although 'Baby's' 'run' at 3:25 really makes me laugh ):

That choreography was atrocious.

Abigail Breslin has such a baby face, and she's a little chubby, and it just makes her look a lot younger than "Johnny." Plus, the way he keeps stroking her hair was creepy - like she's a little kid.

The guy's acting is just atrocious! What were they thinking?! Why are things like this rebooted? Leave a classic alone.

No ring. She is in the cinema watching "Dirty dancing" and it reminds her of the summer at Kallamans.

I watched about half the film last night on plex and it was awful. In places they used the same lines as the original which was cringe. It just didn't fit. Johnny comes across as an awful character, really aggressive and not even a tiny bit sexy. Nicole Sherzinger plays penny and does not suit the role at all!
I think the main problem is they have changed/added in some scenes to make it a bit different. Added in a bit of singing to make it a bit more musical like, but then gone and put in a lot of the original lines to remind everyone that it is still Dirty Dancing.

I'm not sure why they need to remake any film. Can't people just watch the original?

OK, I'll confess that I've never seen the original, but I know enough that the end dance was iconic. The reboot... Wtf was that?

Good god I survived about 1 minute of the clip. That is truly dire, it is like watching a bad school play

I really enjoyed the Grease one. The cast could actually sing, Vanessa Hudgens and Carly rea Jepson were great and nice to spot the few original cast members too.

I've just had a chance to watch some of it. It is truly dreadful. I couldn't believe that Baby was Abigail Breslin, who is usually fantastic. I didn't recognize her. And she cannot dance. And Johnny, he should be hot, and able to dance.

Convinced my sister to record this and we are going to watch it next time I stay. I have really tried to warn her how bad it's going to be, she doesn't believe me.

God it's awful, I couldn't watch more than a minute of that clip - just wrong wrong wrong! They can't dance, they're not sexy and the whole thing comes across like a school production. Just "no".

Patrick Swayze was such a good dancer in the original he made it look effortless and easy. Obviously they thought a mediocre dancer could imitate the moves - it is horrendous judging from that clip.
Will hunt out my DVD of the original which is one of my favourite films with excellent dancing from all the cast and relive the wonderful moves of PS

OMG "The show was amazing especially the choreography" - hahaha that was what the character in the end said, what a cheek compared to the original with actual dancing! Rubbish ending to one of the worse rubbish remakes ever!
