To think Ariana Grande is fucking amazing for doing this concert

Whatever the reason the Manchester bomber chose her concert to commit his atrocity must play on her mind so it takes some serious balls to come out and do this.

I've never heard of any of her songs though!

Crack on rainbow, it's you who is coming out of this incredibly badly.

I wouldnt have believed anyone could be so cynical and dispassionate but you've proved me wrong.

I genuinely don't understand how you can be so hateful about this.

I note you haven't actually come up with an answer on what she could have done differently.

I think it's nice to see Miley Cyrus back to "normal".

NotTheQueen · 04/06/2017 22:58

I had heard of her before the terrible attacks, and tbh, much of it was negative. Extreme diva behaviour plus the donut incident, which was disgusting. Sometimes life throws us into a situation that forces us to grow up, and perhaps it'll have the same impact on her.

That said, you can guarantee that her PR and management tried to read the situation quickly to make lemonade, and probably noted piers morgans diatribe (which I felt was unfair, I would want to go home and hide under the covers too!!). Again, that's their job, and if the victims of the bombing gain support, I've got no issues with that.

She certainly didn't create the situation and I can't knock her for trying to raise money to support the victims and their families.

Giddyaunt18 · 04/06/2017 22:59

Oh dear rainbow, shame you don't live up to your bright, positive name.

RainbowJack · 04/06/2017 22:59

No Navy, she didn't. But she could have also "offered to pay for the funerals, donate a million dollars, donate the money from one of her songs and some other stuff" on the quiet, couldn't she?

Would that have inspired a thread like this? No. Would it have got people outside her fanbase talking about her?

Giddyaunt18 · 04/06/2017 23:03

Respect to Ariana, you did what you could.

Bearbehind · 04/06/2017 23:03

rainbow I don't know what makes you so cynical but it truly saddens me you can't see the good in a situation like this.

I'm so incredibly impressed with Ariana and all the other musicians who joined her tonight. I think they have done an amazing job and I feel uplifted, positive and full of strength. The gift of music and love and solidarity.

Pretty disgusted at those MNetters who are cynical and judgemental, feeling a bit sorry for you really and I agree with the PP who said that it takes a special kind of bitter to want to try and find the negatives in an event like tonight.

TrueColors · 04/06/2017 23:05

Ariana can't win. If she does nothing, she's judged. If she does something, she's judged. While she wasn't hurt physically, I'm sure she bears some guilt, knowing those dead and injured people were only there because of her.

I'm quite disgusted at the digs at Ariana. She didn't blow up the fucking place. Save your nasty comments for the one who really deserves your venom. Hint; it's a man with a bomb, not a woman who sings.

Just seen she posted this on Twitter a couple of years ago. Seems a strong role model for her fans to me.

Yanbu! What a great kid she is! The concert was fab, we roared watching it

klippityklock · 04/06/2017 23:07

Rainbow wind your neck in!

user1467798821 · 04/06/2017 23:08

I had heard of her, but didn't know her music or pick her out in a line up, but tonight I feel so proud of her, I feel like her mother. Amazing concert, something positive that Mancunians and Londoners can take forward

Hulababy · 04/06/2017 23:10

Just got back to the car after the concert. It was amazing to be there. Stuck the right balance and everything was so organised and efficient getting in and out. It was hugely busy - many of those who had seated appeared to be on the pitch, so the pitch was really full all the way back. We moved back as it was a bit too busy mid way. We wanted room to dance and see the screens.

A fantastic atmosphere, a brilliant benefit concert.

Arkhamasylum · 04/06/2017 23:15

It was a concert for Ariana Grande fans. Do you know, it makes me so sad to read the specious cynical rubbish on this thread. It's not honest, it's not discriminating, it's just BORING. 'She's doing it for the publicity'. Yep, her concert getting bombed got her all kinds of publicity. Do you think 40 year olds will now be running out to buy her albums? Of course not. What this concert did was bring some hope and some joy in a hard time. A lot of young kids went out and enjoyed themselves. They can do that and it happened in front of a massive audience. That's not nothing.

Raahh · 04/06/2017 23:17

Hula that's good to hear. I know a few people who were going it looked good from the first bits I saw. I live near the airport , I think the trams might be running later than usual tonight.

Hulababy · 04/06/2017 23:19

Yes hey have put on extra trams, buses and trains tonight, free for ticket holders.

Bearbehind · 04/06/2017 23:22

Totally agree arkam

I'd never heard of her before and I won't be buying her records now so the publicity means nothing really.

It sickens me anyone views this with such scepticism.

I've always loved her since her days as Kat on Victorious. She was great in that role...very talented actor. She always got such flak in the media and it's only because beautiful, talented and successful girls always DO get flak.

I feel so glad that she did this concert.

SuckingEggs · 04/06/2017 23:23

Wow, a few cunty cynics out tonight. Get some sleep and take a fucking breath.

InigoTaran · 04/06/2017 23:23

Just saw this on YouTube. One Last Time. Beautiful tribute to the victims of the Manchester bombings Please can we stop the hate?

sodablackcurrant · 04/06/2017 23:25

She did a great thing under the circumstances. Can't have been easy for her either. Well done you Ariane.

But sometimes we have to put our cynical hats on too. She is only 20 something and is being managed for the future.

The name Ariane Grande will trip off the lips of those who had never heard of her before. Priceless. I can see the management team rubbing their hands together.

What am I like?

Realistic maybe.

Icantstopeatinglol · 04/06/2017 23:28

Rainbow You must be so miserable being so cynical all your life.

I think it's a lovely thing they've all done when everything has been so awful.

Raahh · 04/06/2017 23:28

Hula I thought they might be free for the gig go-ers. That's good.
