To think Ariana Grande is fucking amazing for doing this concert

Whatever the reason the Manchester bomber chose her concert to commit his atrocity must play on her mind so it takes some serious balls to come out and do this.

I've never heard of any of her songs though!

OP posts:

I dont think it is publicity for her music that she is seeking.
Its publicity against terroism.
Yanbu op

CoolCarrie · 04/06/2017 21:20

Yes, well done to her, and everyone else who has joined her.

FlyingElbows · 04/06/2017 21:21

I never understand why people on mn talk as if these girls are in any way in charge of what they do. I'm sure she's lovely and I'm in no doubt she was affected but the bottom line is that she's a record company puppet. She exists to generate profit. She hasn't arranged this concert, teams of record company employees have. It's the same "omg she's so in control" rot spouted about every young female pop performer. It's bizarre.

HardcoreLadyType · 04/06/2017 21:22

I think the fact that you are ascribing that motive to her says more about you than it does about her, RainbowJack.

PacificDogwod · 04/06/2017 21:22

I had never heard of her until the day of the attack

I think the concert is a courageous thing to do, however chances are that Manchester/Trafford is the safest today it has ever been/will ever be.
And the exposure will not hurt her career, so while I applaud her I can think of more outstanding acts of personal bravery tbh.

Alcea · 04/06/2017 21:22

She's an amazing, strong woman Flowers

BeyondTheReasons · 04/06/2017 21:23

I can't believe so many people have never heard of her. I remember donut gate with a little disgust still.

Justaboy · 04/06/2017 21:23

FlyingElbows well could you have coped with that at her age shes only 23 and that's not much fun standing up in front of a ound of 10's of thousands and millions on the TV!

StealthPolarBear · 04/06/2017 21:23

Tell us about donut Gate :)

DrowningSeas · 04/06/2017 21:23

ODFO rainbow

SuperBeagle · 04/06/2017 21:24

Oh bugger off rainbow, miserable turnip.

I don't care for her music, but I have an immense amount of respect for her for this.

PacificDogwod · 04/06/2017 21:25

I would not have the guts to stand in front of thousands of people on a stage and sing, and certainly would not have been able to do that at 23.

Edsheeranalbumparty · 04/06/2017 21:26

Publicity. Hardly altruistic.

Fuck. Off.

RainbowJack · 04/06/2017 21:26

No actually, I wont.

If you can't handle opposing opinion perhaps it is you who should fuck off the internet.

ThePinkOcelot · 04/06/2017 21:26

So those of you who've never heard of her, were never subjected to Victorious then?! Lucky you!

CherieBabySpliffUp · 04/06/2017 21:27

Agree. She could have just run back the States without a backwards glance.
Good on her I say. If she gets good publicity from this as a byproduct then it's all well and good.

SimplySte · 04/06/2017 21:28

She's travelling over an hour from Manchester tomorrow to visit two girls in a hospital, purely because they couldn't make it to tonight's concert. Very hush, no publicity. Her attitude has been top notch.

malificent7 · 04/06/2017 21:28

Well if the profit is hoing to the familiex i really dont see a problem.
Plus its a bit of light in this crazy world.

StealthPolarBear · 04/06/2017 21:28

No pink, I suspect dd is a bit too young

TheoriginalLEM · 04/06/2017 21:28

It wont have harmed her career but better this than let the scum destroy it. This is a GOOD thing

NoLoveofMine · 04/06/2017 21:28

It's the same "omg she's so in control" rot spouted about every young female pop performer.

You may mean specifically this kind of pop music which I'm not knowledgeable about but plenty of young women in music are in control of what they're doing, writing and performing their own songs and being great icons of women in music.

I think Ariana Grande seems like a very nice woman and appeared to me to genuinely care when she went to see the injured fans of hers in hospital - parents said their impressions were the same.

RainbowJack · 04/06/2017 21:29

I have heard of her before she blew up as a pop star and she's always been a little attention seeking.

IMO there's little doubt there are other people behind the scenes pulling the strings related to her persona.

StealthPolarBear · 04/06/2017 21:29

Yes lem. I'm sure it will help her career but at such a price - I don't suppose she is pleased

malificent7 · 04/06/2017 21:30

Going to the families even

BeyondTheReasons · 04/06/2017 21:30

Tell us about donut Gate

She was in a donut store in California and the assistant left donuts on the counter (went in the back for something.)

Ariana said that she hated American, then licked the donuts. Which the assistant then (without realising) put the donuts back to then be sold to other customers.

The store that got its health graded reduced.

Just really bizarre.
