To ask for a summary on the Tory v Labour stance on what to do about terrorism?

This is looking like being the most critical issue of our times at the moment despite my thoughts that Brexit was the crux of this election.

Can anyone cut through the waffle and tell us what the 2 main parties are offering to do about extremists and terrorism?

In your opinion is anyone who supports labour or Corbyn right now a fan girl, hero worshiper or (my personal favourite) a Corbyn groupie?

Ontopofthesunset · 05/06/2017 19:44

You can support Labour as the party most likely to represent your views without supporting Jeremy Corbyn. I don't see why someone has to be accused of being a fan girl though or it being a cult. Plenty of men I know support JC.

In reality, away from the fevered safety of discussion forums, most people don't believe that everything any party or politician does is right. Our two-party FPTP voting system encourages binary decisions which isn't healthy for the government nor for our thought processes. We need to be able to be happy with compromise and uncertainty because that is all there is.

Shamefuldodger · 05/06/2017 19:53

I'm seeing a lot of people being branded as 'groupies' or fan girls because they are fact checking some of the wilder accusations about Corbyn.

Seems like a little hint of misogyny in there. Grown women aren't allowed to be politically vocal without being fan girls now?

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2017 20:34

Yes, all the "groupie" and "fan girl" stuff is an excellent way of dismissing people who are actually only saying "Hang on a minute-he didn't actually say that"

Someone makes a wild accusation. Someone else corrects it. First person then goes off into a "Great God Corbyn you all think he farts rainbows and worship him, you immature fan girls" rant to avoid having a sensible conversation.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 05/06/2017 21:04

Well Diane has been on Sky News. It didn't go well Hmm

Charmageddon · 05/06/2017 21:49

Misogyny, misogyny everywhere!

Not at all actually, I equally use the expression fanboy about grown men being reduced to gibbering fools too.

MaybeNextWeek · 05/06/2017 21:53

Its not misogyny Shame it's ridicule, nothing to do with being a woman more to do with falling for JC's rubbish.

BertrandRussell · 05/06/2017 22:17

"Not at all actually, I equally use the expression fanboy about grown men being reduced to gibbering fools too"

Which particular posters on this thread are you referring to as "gibbering fools"?

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 22:40

Labour have run a very policy focused campaign. They have consulted over their manifesto and properly costed it.

I think that you can think that this is good and that funding public services is also a good idea without any 'fan worship'.

It's May that's made an embarrassing attempt at some sort of personality competition (although she's started saying 'we' rather than 'I' now) and made it very personal with JC (aside from actually talking to him of course.)

What is your obsession with continuously trying to goad people into making things personal?

It's tedious.

christinarossetti · 05/06/2017 23:06

It's you that keep trying to made things personal, charmageddon.

Either about other posters or disregarding Labour policies to harp on about JC.

That's really tedious.

Two4One2017 · 05/06/2017 23:13

Watch Diane Abbott being interviewed by Dermot Murgnahan tonight and make your own mind up...... do you trust her as Home Secretary.

Ankleswingers · 05/06/2017 23:14

Wonder if the Beeb will comment on the liability that is Diane after her interview tonight ...

Nah, thought not.

Biased bastards.

Charmageddon · 05/06/2017 23:30

Confused

I don't try to make things personal about other posters.
Not on purpose anyway.

And it's perfectly reasonable for me to 'harp on' about JC - he is in the running for the next PM.

What's ridiculous though, is accusations of misogyny being levelled against posters with the explanation that they're 'trying to stop women being politically vocal'.

When what those posters who are 'misogynists' were doing was simply being grown women who were also being politically vocal.

That's a feat in mental agility right there, quite frankly.

CivQueen · 05/06/2017 23:31

I'm convinced Diane is a Tory Grin
