Blessed, as in, feeling blessed. Just gets my goat. Not sure why, think
I find it smug.
What words get on your tits nerves?

The phrase some posters use on here, 'getting intimate'. I imagine the people who use it can't say the word sex out loud.

Wornoutbear · 04/06/2017 06:51

Gifted - as in I was given something
Sourced - no = you went out and bought it
Tropical/coastal/tribal/ whatever vibe - you've got wallpaper with a nice pattern - it's not a vibe.
Hollibobs.

"Bite to eat". Ex of mine used to say it all the time. Cannot STANd it.

londonloves · 04/06/2017 07:15

(As in, "going for a bite to eat".

DonaldStott · 04/06/2017 07:50

alltalknobaby · 04/06/2017 08:05

"End of." Finish the fucking sentence. The irony! 😖

Cantseethewoods · 04/06/2017 08:19

Along the same lines as blessed..... #grateful.

Fidoandacupoftea · 04/06/2017 08:23

Like, when it is not needed

choochooo · 04/06/2017 08:24

Bite to eat reminds me of another one:

Peckish

Ugh. My mil uses it all the time.

That and having a 'dip' in the sea or pool. No, you're going swimming.

Willowtree7 · 04/06/2017 08:25

Nom nom mak3s me want to scream.

Any chavvy abbreviation thats not a real word

The fam (ily)
bro - as in "i saw my bro earlier"
Prezzies

Phonetic spellings

Speshul
Gawjus

Oh gosh and i justcrealised i want to rock in a corner when i hear "shut the front door" used as an exclamation.

lupa123 · 04/06/2017 08:32

I have an irrational hatred of the word 'vestibule'. Don't know why, but it makes me shudder.

I also hate 'holibobs'.

Willowtree7 I don't quite understand your last one. 'Shut the front door!' is an order, and orders have to be exclaimed, hence the exclamation mark.

Wishimaywishimight · 04/06/2017 08:35

In reference to a PP I hate the word 'pudding' - it's a dessert! Have never been offered a 'pudding' menu in a restaurant!

Ronnyhotdog · 04/06/2017 08:36

Hun, make love, my love, blessed, ....... goals. Starting a sentence with so. So this just happened. My sister does it ,it's become such a habit it's now how she speaks. Anyways. Mate, dude.
There's more, I'm a misery.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 04/06/2017 08:46

'Chavvy'. As in the post about 'chavvy abbreviations' above. I don't like those abbreviations either, but 'chavvy' is such a horrible snobbish word.

'Hilared'.

Yes to 'gifted'.

'Property ladder'.

I have a completely irrational hatred of the German word 'Zettel'. It's an entirely innocent word meaning a bit or slip of paper and I live in Germany, with a German dh, so it comes up a lot. But I hate it Confused

Ceto · 04/06/2017 08:50

Hubby/hubs
Little man
Hun
Cleanse
Of instead of have

Willowtree7 · 04/06/2017 08:50

lupa people have started using "shut the front door" as in "oh my gosh" i hate it as it's bith irritating and makes no sense.

Re chavvy - i also don't like the word but it's better than "lower working class" which sound condescending.

Willowtree7 · 04/06/2017 08:51

ceto you hit the nail on the head. I want to cry at the state of national education when people ise of instead of have.
...... He must of gone out Shock

WingMirrorSpider · 04/06/2017 08:55

Facebook statuses (stati?) that finish up with 'end of' or 'rant over!'

I too hate 'blessed'. I have a few American Facebook friends who seem to constantly feel blessed and thank God for their blessed lives, rather than acknowledging their own hard work.

Also 'fun' as an aesthetic descriptor : 'a fun skirt', 'a fun print'.

Notso · 04/06/2017 08:56

Yes to picky tea or picky bits, it makes me think of a pile of scabs and nose pickings.

Are you on glue?
Making memories
When people talk about their child's little friends or a little dress etc
When people refer to their child and themselves as one as in "we like...." or 'it doesn't suit us"
Hashtag overload is awful
on Facebook groups I'm on people often post a picture of an expensive item or a pile of purchases with "don't tell hubby 🙈" I hate that.

ColourfulOrangex · 04/06/2017 08:56

Lush Hmm I don't know why I just can't stand it

onesilencetoofar · 04/06/2017 08:59

Atlanticblue76 · 04/06/2017 09:00

'Wee man' or 'little man'
or even worse
'Wee Dude' or 'Little Dude'

Especially when talking about your own child! Unfortunately too many of my F&f use these terms and it makes me shudder every time!!

Or those stickers in cars that say ''little Dude' (or 'little princess')on board''Gahhhghhhh! Just why? Confused
