Blessed, as in, feeling blessed. Just gets my goat. Not sure why, think
I find it smug.
What words get on your tits nerves?

Agree with so many on here...however 'blessed' is the absolute worst - just so smug ! Go and look up smug in the dictionary! I've left Facebook, for many reasons, but the nauseating #blessed is a major reason i couldn't bear it any more.

My personal hated word which makes me cringe is 'school run' aaagghh I hate it!

TealStar · 04/06/2017 09:02

Making memories with these two 😊☺️💞 #blessed #mummysprincesses

Boak 😷🤢

CatsRidingRollercoasters · 04/06/2017 09:03

I have so many words which I hate that I have categorised them.

This lot are often used by on a breastfeeding group I'm part of:

Boobies
Boob juice
Mumma
Oh wise mummas
Mammas
Mummy juice
Bubs
Bubba
Angry

I say this as a breastfeeding mother, not a boobin' mumma FFS.

FavouriteWasteofSlime · 04/06/2017 09:04

Is this just me, but using the word 'boob' as a verb.

I'm just boobing my baby
Child is poorly so I'll just boob her
I don't know how people calm their toddlers down without boobing them (whilst in the next breath moaning that said toddler won't sleep due to wanting boob).
Baby likes to boob all day
Sat here boobing.

Isn't it just feeding? I breastfed my children, I said I was feeding them, never 'boobed' them. Why the need to specify you're boobing them, because I don't really care how you feed your child.

Is it just me? I feel like I could start a whole new thread asking this.Blush

BusterGonad · 04/06/2017 09:05

I'm with Lass I hate all the DS DSS DH DG DD DC. Surly by the time you've put your caps lock in etc it's easier just to put husband partner son grandparent. Today I read NN what is that??? I'm always googling the bloody things. The worst is LO...little one? Who calls their child little one! 😂

Ohyesiam · 04/06/2017 09:05

What is sulty?

What would you say if you felt blessed? I like it more than lucky, which sounds really random ( in the original sense). I agree it is over used, but I do feel blessed often. Mind you I never feel a desire to announced it on social media.

FavouriteWasteofSlime · 04/06/2017 09:06

Clearly not just me as x posted with Cats!

GretchenFranklin · 04/06/2017 09:06

yes 'blessed' is awful and also 'bliss' when used as a fb status

also

comfy and snuggle snuggly

girlandboy · 04/06/2017 09:10

Jammies. Just say pyjamas, it's only one extra syllable.

I like to use "my man" or "my woman" as a term of endearment for my dcs as it's a regional form of address that's dying out, but i would never refer to them like that to a 3rd person iyswim.
What is a "picky tea"? Is that when you can't be bothered to prepare food & just open a tube of pringles?

AperolOnIce · 04/06/2017 09:37

All the "dh" "dp" "ds" "dd" etc. I hate it. It is nauseatingly twee

This many times over. The only thing worse than this is when it is used improperly and inexplicably i.e. DTortoise, DFriend, DDog etc. Stop. You just sound like someone who can't say, never mind think, the word 'THE'

For some reason I hate the word 'snack'.
No idea why. I love a snack.

BonTemps · 04/06/2017 09:39

I absolutely loathe C U Next Tuesday and spag bol. As soon as I hear them I grind my teeth Angry

BusterGonad · 04/06/2017 09:41

Navy what do you mean? So saying son or daughter would out them? I think I'm missing something!
Also the DH DD thing, it's mainly the Dear bit, doesn't the D stand for Dear? It makes me want to puke! 😂

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 04/06/2017 09:42

It's a twee abbreviation. Does any one say "darling/dear[insert family member]?

Is it really too much of an effort to type the extra letters?

I obviously love my husband but I wouldn't refer to him to my friends as dear husband, at home I sometimes refer to him as love or something else funny and old fashioned but never in a million years would I refer to him as Dear to friends, on Facebook or anywhere else outside of the home, unless I was taking the piss!

MarilynWhirlwindRocks · 04/06/2017 09:45

"Mummy Juice" ? "MUMMY JUICE" ? Shock Shock

Cats,
As lovely as I'm sure the women in your breastfeeding group are, please collapse into hysterical laughter on behalf of any sane person, next time they use that term. Grin

Are they thinking that toddler siblings can relate better to what the babies are drinking or something?
Because there'll be a lot of confused kids under the impression that mothers produce Copella Apple and Mango from either nipple...

mummymummums · 04/06/2017 09:46

Well quite a few here have reminded me of other words that annoy me! Nom nom is definitely up there, and lush. Can't get used to 'sick' either used in a complimentary way Confused Think I'm just old!

OP posts:
BusterGonad · 04/06/2017 09:48

Oh yes, Op, I also hate nom nom, what sane adult uses nom nom? For some reason it makes me feel sick!

NotTHEBupcake · 04/06/2017 09:49

I cringed at DH, DS etc when I first came on MN, but I've got used to them now.

HATE the breastfeeding ones as mentioned above, and also:

  • Mummy's magic milk
  • Mummy's liquid gold
  • Using "mummy" in reference to any adult, unless you are a small child (Mummy friends, Mummy groups etc)
  • "Keep on boobin'!" or any use of "boob" as a verb, as someone said upthread
