www.nottinghampost.com/bride-to-be-on-hen-party-kicked-off-flight-says-her-holiday-was-ruined/story-30365116-detail/story.html

How is "btiches" a way anyone would want to refer to themselves?

I agree with the airline BTW, not the "bitches"

AnnetteCurtains · 01/06/2017 16:58

I don't like it

MsWanaBanana · 01/06/2017 16:59

If that's what they want on heir shirts then they are free to do that. Don't understand what all the fuss is about even though I wouldn't really want to be wearing a tshirt basically calling me a dog! Each to their own though

finnthepink · 01/06/2017 16:59

Not a good look but the airline was ridiculous.

Worst case they could have asked them to put the shirts on inside out FFS.

disneykid · 01/06/2017 17:00

I wouldn't have it on a t-shirt but it's not a big deal.

wasonthelist · 01/06/2017 17:01

The airline claims they were asked, repeatedly.

The bitches say not.

Who knows?

The bride seemed to be baffled by the whole thing but as the article went on the other woman said they had been asked to cover them up at check in so I'm inclined to believe what the airline said and that they were asked to cover them up repeatedly.

thelonelyscriptures · 01/06/2017 17:01

@finnthepink they did. Several times. But they kept taking the jackets off.

Personally it doesn't bother me. I wouldn't mind wearing the shirt or others wearing it.

user1471548375 · 01/06/2017 17:01

Part of me doesn't even want to get married now Biscuit

Nicknacky · 01/06/2017 17:02

I did read that they were asked repeatedly to remove them and they should have. How can they allow "bitches" but then now allow "wankers" or similar?

They keep pointing out that they are grown women, well then act it and don't wear t-shirts which might offend.

araiwa · 01/06/2017 17:02

lmao

Piffpaffpoff · 01/06/2017 17:02

It's just about reasonable behaviour in a public space. Would I want my DD seeing this group of women and asking me why they are wearing those tshirts? No. I think it's a ridiculous, demeaning, attention seeking thing to wear, I don't understand why you'd even want to wear that and I wouldn't want to sit next to them on a plane.

notanevilstepmother · 01/06/2017 17:03

They were asked to remove the shirts and refused.

It's their choice to wear them and the airlines choice not to subject their other passengers to abusive sexist language.

It's their plane and their rules.

Why should families with little girls have to explain that when they want to have a break and get to their holiday.

Urglewurgle · 01/06/2017 17:03

Not really sure why anyone would think it was OK. Especially as a large group of you.

heron98 · 01/06/2017 17:03

Oh God, who cares? Surely the airline has better things to do than worry about a few words on a t shirt. Life is really too short.

finnthepink · 01/06/2017 17:04

Yes that's the thing, there are two sides to the story.

I'm not saying I believe the bitches but I certainly don't automatically believe the airline.

yolofish · 01/06/2017 17:06

travel bloke (Simon Calder?) said the base line was: would you like to explain the word to an 8 year old? which I think pretty fair. yes I know it's a female dog "but mummy why would a lady wear that?" while you're just trying to go on holiday

finnthepink · 01/06/2017 17:07

They were asked to remove the shirts and refused.

Says the airline.

Might be true, might not be is all I'm saying.

For the record I would not be seen dead in such a shirt. Very tacky. But airlines are hardly known for their truthfulness and excellent service, especially lately.

MorrisZapp · 01/06/2017 17:08

I saw a hen night in York who had 'smash me back doors in' printed on the back of their t-shirts.

finnthepink · 01/06/2017 17:09

would you like to explain the word to an 8 year old? which I think pretty fair. yes I know it's a female dog "but mummy why would a lady wear that?" while you're just trying to go on holiday

It's a swear word traditionally used to put down women? I would have no trouble explaining the history of misogyny to my 7yo Grin More difficulty with sexist fucking advertising at the airport TBH.

CrazedZombie · 01/06/2017 17:11

We try to teach our kids not to swear and and use sexist language. It is inappropriate and makes not only the airline tacky but is inappropriate in a family space.

An adult shouldn't be wearing a t-shirt with swear words in a public space. (In a bar or other adult space whatever) If it were an adults-only flight then I wouldn't care but there's no such thing yet.

FitnessFad · 01/06/2017 17:13

Surely people have other things to worry about than what is on anyone's t-shirt!
How many passengers on the plane are pups have a, seen them, and b, cared.

Really unreasonable of the airline.

youarenotkiddingme · 01/06/2017 17:14

Woman and men have been on hen/stag do's wearing inappropriate t shirts for years.

Clearly not anymore!

Wouldn't wear one - wouldn't bother me if others were.

I've seen worse emblazoned across people's chests and back in the supermarket!

maddiemookins16mum · 01/06/2017 17:16

I think there must be more to it, that said Jet2 have claimed in the past to have a zero tolerance policy to unacceptable behaviour.

FuzzyPillow · 01/06/2017 17:16

I'm not personally offended by the Tshirts and I'm not sure I know anyone who would be.

I can see the airline's point about children seeing bad language, however I also find myself unable to watch much of the TV during the day / even leave a newspaper lying around when DC are there due to bad language / adult themes, so I think the Tshirts are pretty mild by comparison. I'm far more relaxed about having to explain the word 'bitches' than having to explain a newspaper headline about a paedo or a suicide bomber.

I think it's reasonable to ask the women to turn the Tshirts inside out or cover them up for the duration of the flight while out of their seats. I'm pretty sure if it was made clear it was this or book new flights they'd have complied.
