www.nottinghampost.com/bride-to-be-on-hen-party-kicked-off-flight-says-her-holiday-was-ruined/story-30365116-detail/story.html

How is "btiches" a way anyone would want to refer to themselves?

I read this story the other day.
They were told to take them off/cover them up repeatedly or they wouldn't be allowed to fly.
They didn't take them off, they covered them up and then when they were on the plane the stupid idiots took their coats or whatever off and displayed them again, so what did they expect?!
If they'd just changed tops in the first place, or turned them inside out, none of it would have happened.
As for "part of me doesn't want to get married anymore" .... Hmm get a grip.

TheDowagerCuntess · 01/06/2017 18:16

She added: "Part of me doesn't even want to get married now, I just feel like something will end up going wrong on the day. My hens have had to fork out an extra £2,000 to come on this holiday and that's just not right.

There are not enough eye rolls in the world. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

HollywoodMontrose · 01/06/2017 18:16

My sister went on a hen do last year with tshirts that said "Bride's name hen do" on the back, no offensive language at all. They were warned at check in that they wouldn't be allowed to board the plane wearing them. So they changed. They didn't ask why but I presume it was due to previous same sex groups being rowdy and they don't want to encourage it.

I came home from being abroad this week and at the airport there was a huge argument between a family (all adults and all drunk/ high). Everyone was on edge at the language/ aggression used. They separated the party when they boarded and eventually moved a whole row of people so the 21 ish year old daughter could lie down and sober up.

I know which group I would rather have been on a flight with!

RitaMills · 01/06/2017 18:19

She said she wasn't warned then one of them goes onto say "We sat in our seats and some of the group took their jackets off, the writing is on the back so we didn't think it would be a problem whilst we were sitting down." the wording of that suggests to me they were told to cover up and had agreed to it.

They should've just bloody kept covered or turned the t-shirt inside out. Confused

Piffpaffpoff · 01/06/2017 18:21

Naemates I'm sure Shona Spurtle would have a strong view on this...

Birdsgottaf1y · 01/06/2017 18:22

""Bride is a mental health social worker.""

No she isn't, she's a MH worker.

There's obviously been arguments about it in the Airport and then when they thought they could get away with it, on the flight, the Cabin Crew didn't want the hassle and had a responsibility to other passengers, so they've been kicked off.

There's Stag/Hen destination airports that also serve 'family resorts' and they need it made clear that their party starts when they are at the accommodation.

Hulababy · 01/06/2017 18:24

I think she's just trying to get her 2 minutes of fame. See the "Part of me doesn't even want to get married now," comment for more confirmation of that!

The airlines don't just kick a group of people off a flight for no reason. There is protocol to go through, and the consequences of having to call police and have someone removed, let alone a group of people, will be lengthy - not to mention the admin thereafter.

They claim they sat down and were then hauled off. Not doing anything but sit down quietly.
The airline claim they were refusing to cover up (there'd most likely be a complaint from other passengers, possibly ones with children, which drew their attention to it) and causing an issue. Apparently asked several times inc by the police.

Sounds to me like they weren't happy to cover up, were called on it, kicked up a fuss and didn't just calmly put a jacket over (bride claims they had jackets when they arrived which they had removed) or change the top (she says they had hand luggage with clothes in) when asked a few times.

WorldsacpeLove · 01/06/2017 18:27

@Birdsgottaf1y No, she's a mental health social worker - read other articles.

bbcessex · 01/06/2017 18:28

I wouldn't wear one and I'd definitely question the intellect of someone who does.

It's not the worst thing in the world, but keep it for when you get where you're going..

Any group wearing potentially offensive tee shirts could be asked to change / cover up and quite right too.

HildaOg · 01/06/2017 18:30

It's ridiculous, we can't ban everything that offends someone or a group of people and how do you decide whats offensive? Some people will find a short skirt or headscarf far more offensive than a rude word on a T-shirt. Who do we pander to?

Unless someone is wearing something promoting violence or illegality then everyone should mind their own business. There was no reason for this drama. Its silly.

bbcessex · 01/06/2017 18:33

hilda .. I think objecting to being referred to as a bitch isn't exactly pandering.

Plunkette · 01/06/2017 18:33

Hilda it's not "banning" the tshirts it's saying "we don't want you to wear that on our business premises".

There are plenty of cafes and restaurants that wouldn't have served those women while wearing those shirts either. This isn't any different.

TheFairyCaravan · 01/06/2017 18:34

@WorldsacpeLove she's a Mental Health Worker. She said as much on This Morning

youarenotkiddingme · 01/06/2017 18:35

Anyone remember when FCUK t shirts came out and every teen wanted one because of what it looked like?!

That must have been about 20 years ago

NoLoveofMine · 01/06/2017 18:36

I do wonder whether anyone would do the same about the t-shirts depicting women wearing next to nothing I've seen some men wearing in the past.

PossomInAPearTree · 01/06/2017 18:37

Police can and have considered such shirts a public order offence and arrested people for it before. So if it's illegal then I'm not really surprised the airline weren't happy. Stupid women.

bbcessex · 01/06/2017 18:38

To be honest.. a group of women happy to emblazon 'bitches on tour' across their tops isn't likely to be searching for any establishment other than one selling the roughest of alcohol in the largest of quantities.

In which case.. I'm sure they will fit in well..

haveacupoftea · 01/06/2017 18:43

The group was probably being a pain in the arse anyway if they're belligerent enough to not cover their t shirts when asked. Good for the airline for taking pity of the other people on the plane.

Birdsgottaf1y · 01/06/2017 18:44

""@Birdsgottaf1y No, she's a mental health social worker - read other articles.""

She may have claimed to be, then realised that's a criminal offence. It's a protected title.

If she was she would be on a disciplinary over the incident.

Although reading the other articles, the airport Police first got involved when they were going through security.

They've just thought that they were above the rules and eighteen of them, would be too many to calm down if it all kicked off mid-air.

Shenanagins · 01/06/2017 18:49

The airline has a policy, they didn't adhere to it so got kicked off so tough luck.

Similar policies apply in many of our cities and town pubs which state no football colours and let's face it football shirts don't have slogans on them which could be deemed as offensive although in my city it can lead to a lot of trouble 😕.

outabout · 01/06/2017 18:50

Maybe the slogan was a request for how they would like to be treated?
That would serve them right. Put them on a lead for 'walkies'?

McTufty · 01/06/2017 18:50

Unless, as PPs have suggested, there is more to the story I think it is a complete overreaction by the airline, and if the police got involved as they went through security then words fail me. The police! Because a t-shirt says bitch? Wow.

TheFaerieQueene · 01/06/2017 18:52

I wouldn't wear one as firstly the thought of a hen weekend leaves me cold and slogan tops are not my thing. That said, I couldn't care less about the wearing of the tee shirt by others. A total overreaction imo.
