www.nottinghampost.com/bride-to-be-on-hen-party-kicked-off-flight-says-her-holiday-was-ruined/story-30365116-detail/story.html

How is "btiches" a way anyone would want to refer to themselves?

A thread About a couple arguing, and a man throwing water over his wife. He spoken to the cabin crew like shit over his meal. But He wasn't escorted off the plane. Is that because he's a 6ft bloke.

kali110 · 01/06/2017 17:22

I wouldn't wear one, but i'm certainly not offended, iv probably still got a top with the word bitch on, along with other tshirts with swear words on.
A lot of Hen/stag dos have been wearing these for years.
I'd be more bothered if they were being raucous, than by a tshirt.

DonaldStott · 01/06/2017 17:23

I hate slogan tshirts anyway, but although I am not easily offended, I do find them t-shirts in poor taste.

Although if they were wearing one saying I'm an utter wanker, I'd probably think how appropriate.

How awful Sad

HornyTortoise · 01/06/2017 17:24

I don't understand why they would be kicked off a flight for the tshirts...surely there must have been something else. If not then this is absolutely ridiculous. I have seen awful things printed on stag parties tshirts and that seems to be fine Hmm

I don't get why anyone would want to wear that? I am honestly not having a go - just genuinely baffled by what the appeal of it is?

Good on the airline for chucking them off. they were asked to remove them and didn't. I expect there was more to the story than just the T-shirts though.

disneykid · 01/06/2017 17:25

I'm sure there's bigger problems than people having the word 'bitch' on a t-shirt.

Jaxhog · 01/06/2017 17:28

It does seem a bit of an over reaction. I wonder what behaviour came with them though.

CondensedMilkSarnies · 01/06/2017 17:28

It wouldn't really bother me but I just see it as a general lowering of standards of common decency. Same as swearing on TV shows .

Creampastry · 01/06/2017 17:28

There are bigger issues but please..., it was wrong of the bitches and the airlines was right. Standards !!

WorldsacpeLove · 01/06/2017 17:29

I don't like it - children could have seen / read it. Whilst I am sure they've heard swearing before this seems to just make it acceptable.

Also, labels women as bitches - not exactly great is it?

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 01/06/2017 17:30

We've got terrorists threatening killing and maiming people. God only knows where and who'll they strike next. Yet their worried about a word on a
T-shirt.

Beyondworried · 01/06/2017 17:31

It's horrible and just another tawdry group of women who seem to lose all self respect when the word 'hen' is put in front of the word 'party'. Get loads of them here usually parading around with blow up dicks. Fine at night if they insist but not daytime when families and kids around. Stay classy ladies Hmm

newdaddie · 01/06/2017 17:32

I believe the airline.

It's a lot of hassle to locate luggage and remove it from the plane, plus it could potentially delay take off and cost the airline money.

Louisianna16 · 01/06/2017 17:35

I don't really want to live in a world where test for words is whether someone is ok explaining them to their 8 yr old.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 01/06/2017 17:35

They'd prob been pissing it up in Spoons beforehand, drunk and lairy

Naemates · 01/06/2017 17:35

Good name Piffpaffpoff and on an airline thread as well Grin

CheersMedea · 01/06/2017 17:36

I agree OP.

To everyone saying "seen worse on stag/hen does" a plane is a captive environment. You can't just walk away or turn a blind eye as it is right there in your face.

That is obviously something plenty of people would find offensive and reasonably something you might not want young girls/children to see. It doesn't make sense to allow people onto a plane displaying things that are likely to cause offence. It sets up potential for conflict and atmosphere on a plane which coupled with alcohol, confined space and plenty of people on the valium is a recipe for disaster.

I totally agree with the airline.

And I think it's a sad day when women would refer to themselves as "bitches".

Maudlinmaud · 01/06/2017 17:37

Fgs it wasn't a big deal. Isn't there a song called bitch by Meredith Brooks?
They should have removed them when asked.

BuzzKillington · 01/06/2017 17:37

I doubt the bitches' side of the story.

Quite right that they were thrown off the flight. Bunch of idiots.

BalloonSlayer · 01/06/2017 17:37

Interested to note that the Times mentioned that the bride is a social worker. I know there are loads of different social workers, not just family ones, but I would be interested to hear of what a SW would think of a parent wearing t-shirts like that in front of their young child.

DonaldStott · 01/06/2017 17:38

We've got terrorists threatening killing and maiming people. God only knows where and who'll they strike next. Yet their worried about a word on a

Yes, let's not ever get upset by anything EVER again, unless it is something as extreme as terrorism Confused

What a daft thing to say.

It is horrible to see a gang of women walking round wearing tshirts saying 'bitch' on and you are allowed to make comment to say you think it's horrid.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 01/06/2017 17:39

"How is "btiches" a way anyone would want to refer to themselves?"

Well, personally, I wouldn't...but my (very activist/ feminist) New York friend is in a hipster sewing group called "Bitches Who Do Stitches".

They claim it's ironic and reclaiming the slur. Hmm. Each to their own, I suppose.

TheSnorkMaidenReturns · 01/06/2017 17:39

This is the last part of the story: A spokeswoman for Jet2.com said: "They were told repeatedly to cover up including by the police which they repeatedly ignored so Jet 2 were left with no other choice but to remove them from the aircraft."

I'm with @newdaddie - it would have cost the airline a to of hassle and potentially money to delay the flight. There's more to it than the bride is admitting. The airline is not going to make up the bit about the police in a press statement.
