come on guys, we can all see through it

fight the election without resorting to this

OP posts:
ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 20:21

We are all concerned about this, Orlantina.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 01/06/2017 20:22

Ah I see we are about to have the assertion that labour voters care and Tories are all nasty and thick.

You can be a labour supporter and be a selfish cunt or a Tory supporter and be a nice human being

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 01/06/2017 20:22

Mumsnet is the only cross section of life right now which makes me think Lavour might win. I don't see Tory threads at all...

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 01/06/2017 20:22

Labour !

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 20:26

Not a single "Tories ate my kitten for breakfast' Mary? Do keep up!

We do, however have the "Jeremy C is hot" thread.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 01/06/2017 20:29

Several of those.... between those and the biscuit question, I'm not surprised that the site has the reputation it seems to habe

derxa · 01/06/2017 20:30

God I wish it was next Friday and whoever wins can get on with running the country. I'm fed up.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 20:33

I'm off to the Jeremy is hot thread.

caroldecker · 01/06/2017 20:51

May was and has been very careful not to predict a large majority and said repeatedly that Labour could win. Some media commentators suggested she should claim everyone is voting for her so waverers would follow the herd.

ssd · 01/06/2017 20:56

the Jeremy is hot thread really really makes me feel uneasy......shouldnt they be on gransnet Grin

OP posts:
ChardonnaysPrettySister · 01/06/2017 20:57

I can't find it.

can someone link pls?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 01/06/2017 21:24

Those kind of threads make MN look a tad shallow

Epipgab · 01/06/2017 21:27

Well said IvorHughJarrs.

PerkingFaintly · 03/06/2017 10:35

So, here's this morning's crop - just the ones I've noticed, not a scientific study and AFAIK coincidence they're both anti-Labour.

I'm pretty sure all the parties are on here. I suspect some of the unsubtle ones are probably not supporters of the party they claim to be.

I think some people are shockingly naive if they believe everyone is who they say they are online.

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 03/06/2017 10:55

I suspect some of the unsubtle ones are probably not supporters of the party they claim to be.

There was someone on the Corbyn chat who I strongly suspected of that.

But, yes, all parties seem to be well presented.

PerkingFaintly · 03/06/2017 10:56

One of the reasons the spammers are so tedious is because IMHO they actively inhibit discussions being "enlightening and educational", which I miss too.

Having five spammy threads on the same topic tends to fragment the discussion too much, where one or maybe two threads would have been able to explore issues in detail.

And spammers tend to be set on transmit: they go on saying the same things without engaging meaningfully with the response.

I noticed this in the Brexit campaign. A particular poster (name present only for the campaign) would start a thread; other people would respond in good faith to create a meaningful discussion; the other posters would bring in factual references and the discussion would evolve; then the OP would start another thread, a few days later, with exactly the same opening message as her previous thread - that she'd just been shown was factually untrue. This clearly wasn't about having different opinions or wanting a discussion; this was about broadcasting a message and using MN as the platform.

It just descends into who can shout louder for longer. Deeply, deeply tedious.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 03/06/2017 10:57

Actually OP I assumed you were possibly from Labour HQ doing the same thing.

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 03/06/2017 12:16

Agree with just about everyone but especially taniths and perkings last post

DioneTheDiabolist · 03/06/2017 12:27

I miss Claig.Sad

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/06/2017 12:28

yanbu. There are some posters who only post on political threads, often with very little history. They just run in to plonk their propaganda down then leave the thread.

One way to avoid paying for political advertising I guess. Hmm

Charmageddon · 03/06/2017 12:45

Really don't bother with anything like facts. MN is indeed an echo chamber - no discussion or debate allowed just endless monologuing on how virtuous, righteous and down right saint-like all Labour supporters are and anyone who even remotely questions this is evil.

This.

TORIES KILL PEOPLE

IF YOU VOTE FOR THEM YOU ARE A MURDERER

Repeat ad infinitum until people who don't think labour offer a remotely credible option give up and stop posting, then pat yourself on the back for being Righteous and award yourself another halo Halo

RortyCrankle · 03/06/2017 12:50

Not half as obvious as those paid by Labour to start threads ripping shreds out of ]the Tories - hope they are paid good money.

Orlantina · 03/06/2017 12:51

Not half as obvious as those paid by Labour to start threads ripping shreds out of ]the Tories - hope they are paid good money

Maybe some people are just sick to death of the Tory party and don't need any motivating to start threads?

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 03/06/2017 12:56

Whats pissing me off is the whole if you are not voting tory then you must be voting labour you commie lefty twat

Or if you are not voting labour you must be voting tory you facist far right twat

Other parties are available

And some people havent made up their mind, but they might know who they are NOT voting for
