to try to help Europol with child abuse cases?

Europol are asking people to review 20 images of everyday objects to try to get a lead in child abuse investigations. If they can work out the manufacturer or even just the country where something is sold it could be the break they need to track down the perpetrator and rescue the child(ren) at risk.

Please could everyone take a few minutes to look and see if you recognise any of the items? They include things like the logo on a child's pyjamas and a toilettry bottle. There are no children in the images.

As there are Mumsnetters all of the world and many will have children I hoped there was a chance at least that someone would recognise one of the objects.

Hopefully the hive mind of Mumsnet may be able to help them narrow down the country of origin of the objects.

More info here.

Thank you Flowers

Devil. I also think it's Nestle. I've sent a message on Europol.

The red and yellow jar reminds me off some furniture polish my mum used to use years ago. Does that trigger anything more specific with any of you?

Ssdw · 18/11/2017 18:05

Unfortunately most of them are really blurry, i didnt recognise any.
I will keep checking to see if they put up new ones.

listsandbudgets · 18/11/2017 18:41

It was stones beeswax I was thinking of but I've found an image of it now and its not that though there were similarities

CitrusSun · 18/11/2017 21:20

If you go to Europol website there’s more info and some of the objects have been identified, can’t get these images out of my mind, if I could have one wish it would be that no child was ever harmed, some of the scratched out bits don’t take too much imagination to work out what’s going on, that poor little soul in the festive jumper, was that abuse what they had for Christmas, it’s just heartbreaking and a thankless task for those who work to identify the perpetrators, I feel helpless at times like this

usernameinfinito · 18/11/2017 21:28

I didn't recognise any, but this is so horrible and sad. I have no words.

SparklyMagpie · 18/11/2017 21:29

I keep looking over the images and I can't even describe how much my heart breaks. As CitrusSun said, it doesn't take too much to work out what's going on in some of the pics.

Absolutely sickening, I had trouble with the majority but after looking again can agree with a nestle sign so shall report. I will refresh and double check if that has been reported and anymore updates as it's taken me a while to even look through again

The thought that so many could make a difference though...

MycatsaPirate · 18/11/2017 21:30

Glad I found this thread. Even though I couldn't recognise anything, I've shared the post on f/b.

Of the new images added, there is a Paw Patrol print storage box and either the Sea/Air patroller along with it. Will have a proper look for make of box tomorrow, before posting on site.

makingmiracles · 18/11/2017 23:56

I’m pretty sure I’ve identified the brand of Xmas t shirt so I’ve sent them that info hoping it helps.
Horrific. Poor kids. And to think a lot of the time it’s their own parents complicit in it, just awful.

CitrusSun · 19/11/2017 02:31

Sparkly, the Nestle logo has been acknowledged on Europol website so they are aware of that one, feels needle in a haystack but if one child is spared more torture all work is worthwhile, I wish there was more we could all do but it’s such a difficult area to infiltrate, these beasts are cunning and well-practised at operating under the radar, no words for how abhorrent this is, i’m a passive person but if I aired my thoughts of what punishment to inflict on these people I would sound anything but passive. I just have a helpless hopeless feeling that isn’t easy to shake off

DarthMother · 19/11/2017 08:15

I didn't recognise anything, do the images change when one gets identified and it provides a lead? What I mean is would it be worthwhile checking it every now and then to see if you can help?

drinkswineoutofamug · 19/11/2017 16:29

The pictures must of change a lot . The park scene with the sheep. In Eastern Europe , I seen that people paint the bottom of trees white to stop bugs . But that’s too obvious.
The buildings are next to a drain.

mishfish · 19/11/2017 16:39

These photos are heart breaking. Particularly the pyjamas 💔

The pictures must of change a lot .

It says twenty images go up at a time but not sure how often it changes them.

Each photo has an option underneath to send an anonymous tip to Europol or share on social media. The detectives want users to realise the potentially vital role they can play, they believe a few clicks could help to rescue a child.Past experience has shown a background object can provide a breakthrough.
In one case, Steven Wilson tells us: "There was a trampoline in the garden. We zoomed in and saw a manufacturers' mark. They told us it was only sold in one country - that led us to the right area, and eventually, the suspect."
.
