to try to help Europol with child abuse cases?

witwootoodleoo · 01/06/2017 08:25

Europol are asking people to review 20 images of everyday objects to try to get a lead in child abuse investigations. If they can work out the manufacturer or even just the country where something is sold it could be the break they need to track down the perpetrator and rescue the child(ren) at risk.

Please could everyone take a few minutes to look and see if you recognise any of the items? They include things like the logo on a child's pyjamas and a toilettry bottle. There are no children in the images.

As there are Mumsnetters all of the world and many will have children I hoped there was a chance at least that someone would recognise one of the objects.

Hopefully the hive mind of Mumsnet may be able to help them narrow down the country of origin of the objects.

More info here.

Thank you Flowers

I thought I recognised the door mat at the end, but on comparison it wasn't the same.

Madbum · 17/07/2017 23:49

Bumping, didn't recognise anything sadly.

ZuzuMyLittleGingersnap · 18/07/2017 05:52

Sadly couldn't recognise any items, but will periodically check back with the site when they add more.

God, it really hits home when you estimate how very little the kids involved must be, judging by their clothing and shoes etc., doesn't it? Sad

As ever, am so angry with, and totally disgusted by, every single 'person' guilty of inflicting this abuse on kids. Utter, utter bastards.

Thank you, OP, for flagging up this scheme: as heartbreaking as it is for us to be confronted by hard evidence, the international reach of MNers will track down some valuable leads for Europol, I'm sure.

beargryllshasabigrope · 18/07/2017 06:28

I've had a look but I don't recognise anything.

It's so heartbreaking looking through those photos and knowing why they're being shown. There's far too much evil in this world.

Scoobygang7 · 18/07/2017 07:04

How awful but here's hoping people can help. Sent in about the yellow paper work looks similar to the booklet you're given if are on warfarin in the U.K. I hope I am right and it helps but I am not positive as it's so blurry.

DailyMailFuckRightOff · 05/08/2017 21:17

Bump. Awful to realise how such everyday items are a part of such hideous abuse.

meadowlark3 · 05/08/2017 21:32

Bump. Heartbreaking.

WiggleYourWoo · 05/08/2017 23:26

Found the make of the toy cat. Hope it helps.

BifsWif · 05/08/2017 23:36

I don't recognise anything so just bumping.

The images are so very harrowing Sad

Hudson10 · 05/08/2017 23:38

Just keeping bumped. Good on all those looking and identifying. With two kids of my own, I can't bring myself to open the links.
Some very sick individuals out there and I hope this thread helps to capture some of them and get them locked away.

Bathinginthedark · 06/08/2017 00:52

Bump

Changednamesorry · 06/08/2017 01:51

elephantoverthehill · 06/08/2017 02:00

No nothing, but bumping.

oldlaundbooth · 06/08/2017 02:06

Bump bump

spadaydone · 06/08/2017 02:09

First time I've seen this thread.

I guess the link in the op is now showing a different set of images?

So heartbreaking for those children Sad

spadaydone · 06/08/2017 02:16

I've just recognised something though - so have sent info. Finger crossed.

Rinkydinkypink · 06/08/2017 02:25

Goodness that's upsetting but what a brilliant idea! I think your right about the shoe toy. Don't know about anything else.

Lea060398 · 06/08/2017 08:44

Recognised the pendant (I think) so reported it.

Woodydoody · 06/08/2017 08:57

Just bumping. Those poor, poor children.

Bumping. The first picture has a distinctive street light. If the style and manufacturer could be identified, perhaps the location could be narrowed down?

upperlimit · 09/08/2017 08:39

No, nothing. Those poor babies.

Nomdutilisateur · 09/08/2017 08:46

Is the brightly coloured soft toy a rainbow brite toy?
The pictures are sad - it might be worth saying to people that they are upsetting but the link and pictures don't actually contain any distressing images. (Just in case somebody doesn't view the pictures because they don't want to see that).
Don't know if I have explained that well.

Nomdutilisateur · 09/08/2017 14:21

Bump

SchoolyMcSchoolFace · 09/08/2017 14:23

I look at this every so often and have never recognised anything.

Find them harder and harder to look at as time goes by. Sad
