Ah, I don't know. It's not my cup of tea (and that hideous 3/4 trouser suit thing - what the actual fuck!!?) but I wouldn't see someone in the street and be judgy for it, people like different stuff don't they and that's ok .
I think the problem is that one time of day M&S was aspirational, you shopped there for the quality and so others knew you could afford it (I'm generalizing here, but we've all met the type Hyacinth Bucket )
Times have now moved on and M&S is a bit of a joke and has been for a few years - you get your decent undies there and maybe school uniform, a £10 meal deal maybe but you don't shop there for the style. It's practical and is riding the sails of the quality it used to have.
All I can say is that at least it isn't as hideous as All Saints. I followed a link from here a week or so ago expecting stylish chic and lovely clothes. They may as well have had sack cloths on display - I could not believe what I was seeing. If that's the new aspirational fashion, well....I'd rather wear the top in the op. At least then I can be safe in the knowledge I don't ooze pretentious wannabe.
Of course I'll now get told that All Saints is actually the epitome of sophistication, which brings me back to my initial point - horses for courses.
