The cream version with the flowers looks kind of, sort of, ok.

Until you realise

A) What it's made of
B) It's still got those stupid looking sleeves
and
C) It's still got the V back.

P1nkP0ppy · 27/05/2017 12:38

Hear! Hear! ElsieMc. I get so-called updates from the manager of my local store, goodness knows why! Despite emailing him and completing online surveys he's not changed anything.

ilhj believe it or not some of us live nowhere near a Zara or any other decent clothes shop so no choice (and I'm not ordering loads of stuff online only to have to send it back)
Don't read a thread if it makes you so crabby 😳.

Giddyaunt18 · 27/05/2017 12:39

That top is awful. The dress would be ok if it was much shorter.

C8H10N4O2 · 27/05/2017 12:46

I don't know what drugs M&S buyers are on these days but its years since I've found anything I'd be seen dead in and there was a time where I could get some basic classics in knitwear at least.

That top reminds me of a quilt cover I had as a kid and my DM thought the pink dress was one of those hideous nylon negligees people wore in 70's sitcoms.

Giddyaunt18 · 27/05/2017 12:51

Yes that dress is a bit George and Mildred!

BusterGonad · 27/05/2017 13:06

The patch work top is really 1990s and not in a good way, the yellow suit is rather vile, the pink, navy and floral flute sleeve dress is very 60s/70s and for that reason I quite like it!

Mexxi · 27/05/2017 13:06

I'd wear that blue patchwork top if it were longer and covered my bum. What's wrong with it?

Comeymemo · 27/05/2017 13:07

I'm not sure why I need to clarify, but the top I have is the pink top that someone said looks like curtains; not the blue one in the OP. WTF does it matter? I don't know Grin

MiladyThesaurus · 27/05/2017 13:13

Gingernaut:

You may also have to figure in:

D. The fit is inspired by a hospital gown.

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 27/05/2017 13:15

Grin Comey. I found myself reading the comment upthread about how women over a certain age should keep their 'batwings' covered and having a moment's concern about the blatant flaunting of mine. Then I thought fuck it. Who cares? Judge away! Grin

TurquoiseDress · 27/05/2017 13:16

I go to M&S to buy my bras & knickers and every now and then a bikini.

That top and pink dress are hideous not to my taste Grin

zukiecat · 27/05/2017 13:32

I think the blue top is really pretty, I'd buy that today if I could afford M&S prices

I wouldn't wear the pink dress, but I'd wear it as a top if it was a shorter length

Devonishome1 · 27/05/2017 14:57

I think the top is ok🤔

bruffin · 27/05/2017 15:05

Nothing wrong with it devonishome

Half the high street has the sleeves and colours you see in M&s but the MN posters like to think they are clever by picking on M&S, its all very childish

Interestingly a friends dd who is fairly modelesque in stature wore that pink dress to a wedding recently and she actually looked great in it. I would look awful on me as im only 5'2 and 54.

BusterGonad · 27/05/2017 15:13

I bet she did bruffin,, if you've got style I think that dress would look fantastic. Team it with some 60s make up, cats eye eyeliner and a soft pink lipstick and it'll look amazing!

Bluntness100 · 27/05/2017 15:19

could you do that please, take a pic and show us it looking amazing? Cos even the model isn't pulling it off. 😂

BusterGonad · 27/05/2017 15:26

Bluntness what is so wrong with some people liking a dress and some people not! I don't understand it. You see it and think it's vile, others do not.

reuset · 27/05/2017 15:27

Agree Bruffin. I know of somebody who managed to pull off a similar dress with the right styling and make up! Wink

reuset · 27/05/2017 15:28

Though I think there's a Penelope Keith picture which is a bit closer to the M & S dress.

LPLPLP · 27/05/2017 15:31

I went in looking for simple summery short sleeve blouses to go with plain work trousers. I don't want to worry about creasing linen. Nothing!

walmo · 27/05/2017 16:02

I worked in M&S one Christmas many years ago. I had to unpack the men's jumpers and arrange them on the counters by size. Some in particular were gobsmackingly revolting and I kept wondering who the hell would buy them.

I soon discovered that I have no insight into other people's taste. They sold out.

barrygetamoveonplease · 27/05/2017 16:07

The vile pink dress has reached Rochdale. I saw it yesterday. It felt like an old friend...

Bluntness100 · 27/05/2017 16:09

Margot in the blue version,,,,clearly ahead of her time fashion wise...

BusterGonad · 27/05/2017 16:17

Margo looks great. She's a style icon.

Maudlinmaud · 27/05/2017 16:28

Look at the cold shoulders. It was bad enough when they revived this in the noughties! Urgh! I did buy some bardot tops yesterday to me that's acceptable.
