The pink dress look like something from a 1970s horror film (Carrie, the Shining) It won't flatter anyone surely?

The little house on the prairie top could be nice with white jeans and strappy sandles.
If you are listening M andS, to your target market, we like wraparound dresses in nice interesting modern colours and prints, Jersey, cotton, linen or silk mix, calf length with cleavage and at least cap sleeves.
Jackets, linen mix with trousers and floaty waterfall cardies/wraps in interesting shades.

Thanks Grin

I held the pink dress up against me yesterday. It reached my toes. I'm 5ft 1 though. I did wonder if they offered a petite version. I will say that I noticed from the escalator a few nice bits and pieces but I was heading for the beauty department and didn't have time to look. I bought the autograph face tanning oil but haven't tried it yet.

My main gripe with M&S is that they seem to assume that I’m happy to adorn my middle-aged shapeless body with middle-aged shapeless clothes!

As to the patchwork top – well, it could have been worse. It could have been made out of polyester. Cotton would have been preferable, but viscose is acceptable.

It’s actually quite restrained by M&S standards. Where are the frills, flounces, ribbons and embroidered flowers? I suppose ditsy patchwork scraps are all they've got left from the ginormous old haberdashery warehouse they bought up some years ago.

Dowser · 27/05/2017 11:05

The blue top reminds me of fashions many years ago.

Now

Horrible .
I wouldn't even paint in the Pink Dress Of Ugliness.

Talith · 27/05/2017 11:05

I'd love to see more pretty cap / puff sleeve tailored-under-the-boobs work blouses. You can't get them for love nor money. Just hideous sleeveless blouses that show my saggy armpits and half length ugly sleeves in boxy shapes. Like the OPs pic.

Anniegetyourgun · 27/05/2017 11:11

I like middle-aged and shapeless. Sadly, though, the M&S in my town, which was exactly the right size to (a) have a reasonable stock selection and (b) be able to find your way around it, closed. Like a pp I've been to Bluewater and couldn't find a damned thing, including the entrance I'd come in by. It's a wonder I got home at all.

I also used to find BHS (R.I.P.) useful. Locally there is still a Debenham's, which is too expensive for me, and a Primark, which is cheap enough to please anyone but the materials feel nasty, somehow.

ps The cream dress was actually quite pleasant, unless I've missed something. Definitely with you on the pink.

WhatALoadOfOldBollocks · 27/05/2017 11:15

I was in M&S the other day and I actually saw someone look at that Pink Dress of Ugliness. She made a beeline for it in fact

Maybe she was a MNer checking out how hideous it is in real life. I think it's an awful dress but I'm very tempted to go and try it on for a laugh and post a picture here Wink

QueenMortificado · 27/05/2017 11:27

The top that Norma posted is actually quite nice!

The cream dress is also ok. I really can't get worked up enough to care, M&S seems to provoke this real competitive "i'm calling it worse shit" reaction on MN

FloatyCat · 27/05/2017 11:29

I like the top Blush might go and buy it today

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 27/05/2017 11:36

I think M & S will give up on clothing, maybe keep going with lingerie, footwear but that's it - good thing to going by these monstrosities. My local M & S hardly has anyone in the clothing sections and it has a reasonable range. My elderly MIL pronounced it frumpy a few years ago, the writing is on the wall.

Bitlady · 27/05/2017 11:38

I actually like the top! The pink dress on the other hand.....

Char22thom · 27/05/2017 11:42

I actually really like the top and thinks its quite pretty, but the shape isn't great, but hating the attitude on these threads, us women have enough to worry about without hearing our clothing called hideous and other judgemental comments being made about our choice or preference of clothing

paddypants13 · 27/05/2017 11:42

I quite like the top. Blush The dress though ConfusedConfusedConfused

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 27/05/2017 11:53

Aww Char no one's judging posters for their choices.
I'm going to judge the fuck out of M&S though. They're a decent shop gone rogue. They've let me down they've let middle aged women down and they've let themselves down. Smile

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 27/05/2017 11:57

if you like the clothes that's fine, it would be dull we all liked the same thing. Not judging you as an indivdual just the clothes.

MixedUpShookUpGirl · 27/05/2017 12:08

I really do think they do some fantastic things, and people are being way too harsh. I'm sitting on the sofa in a lovely gypsy hippy type top which i bought from them, really comfortable and eye catching!

However, there is lots of stuff that is dire for sure, and its hard to know what their Buyers are thinking. I look at the rails of this strange stuff and just know it will be in the sale.

Comeymemo · 27/05/2017 12:09

I have that top! It's very nice and light. Perfect for the summer.

Char22thom · 27/05/2017 12:09

Tbh if you judge the clothes you judge the people wearing them imo

SomeOtherFuckers · 27/05/2017 12:14

Guys ... THEY DO THE DRESS IN BLACK!

THE BLACK DOOM

llhj · 27/05/2017 12:16

What's the bloody problem though? Why all these poxy threads slating the place? It's not like we're all forced to shop there. You don't like it, don't go. Fill your boots at Zara or wherever. If people don't go, it'll close. Market forces etc. That's life. Why such angst about it? It's just snide.

llhj · 27/05/2017 12:17

So yes yabu.

alltouchedout · 27/05/2017 12:22

I like the top.
This skirt, though, is hideous.

Alconleigh · 27/05/2017 12:25

I made a beeline for the pink dress the other day as I recognised it from a thread on here. I was grinning too, and on my own. The security guard gave me a look Grin

SailAwaySailAwaySailAway · 27/05/2017 12:35

Nuns on the Run fancy dress sorted right there Fuckers.Grin

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 27/05/2017 12:37

I think the skirt is pretty but the top is hideous.
