Got called fete lady today (humorous ish)

Argh I've turned into crazy fete lady. In the last couple of days on numerous occasions - I've been entered into conversations as "you are the fete lady", "you are the fete lady". Would I be unreasonable to start donning a twin set and pearls?

So as not to drip feed, I do run the village fete, I think I am starting to become a fete bore, obsessed with it - can't get me to talk about anything else. To the extent I'm now starting a AIBU post about the flaming fete - HELP.

Will there be a Tombola stall. I do like a nice Tombola.

Have you managed to get enough raffle prizes yet?

I'll happily assist in judging the Best Cake award.

Half my garage is full of boxes of bunting - ever tried unraveling it after a few years of good use! Tippex works wonders on mould spots

choochoo pop down to your local fete and ask to help. Give it a couple of years and you will be begging for help in charge looking for the next fete lady

Do you get to do the PA announcements, I organised the school fete last year and I did enjoy hearing my strident tones marr a lovely sunny afternoon ("in a minute the recorders are performing and then we will announce the raffle")

Cake judges are carefully selected, head of the local WI is the chief judge - all others follow.

How do you become fete lady - I have no idea, started running fetes years ago and still doing it. Tbh it's a bloody good laugh, lots of wine and OMG moments - last month is wobble, lots of FFFfffffffs and then I rock in the corner when it's all over

Yes I do some of the announcements / not all. I like that bit, especially when my panic of fuck is anyone going to turn up is everything going to be ok - turns into this is a good turnout fuck have I got enough food

rusty you need to move to the country. We do rocking fetes out in the sticks. Cricket, pimms, tug of war, cream teas, piss up real ale, and the quasi country music. If I say much more I will put myself - as we have a lot entertainment. That does not include me rocking in the corner nursing a 4 hour old pimms after it is all over!!

I love the word "tombola". It sounds like an Italian cheese or the name of the heroine in a romance novel set in some exotic locale, "Tombola de la Vega", Duchess of Something or Other".

I know it's not cheese, but, what, exactly, is it? It's not just a raffle, is it?
