Not being offered drink in hairdressers

Had hair done yesterday in local salon, there for nearly 2 hours. Wasn't offered a drink once. I've been offered tea/coffee before and I see it as all part of the 'pampering' experience you expect at a hairdressers. Should I have asked for one?? I felt embarrassed about it so didn't. But 2 bloody hours!! I still feel quite miffed about it.

I have only ever been offered tea or coffee (or water) - never alcohol or food (unless you count a Lotus biscuit Wink.

UserThenLotsOfNumbers · 25/05/2017 18:52

They probably forgot to ask. Next time just ask?

AppleOfMyEye10 · 25/05/2017 19:32

Mine does a drink, biscuit and head massage Smile

PuppyMonkey · 25/05/2017 20:29

"Bottle of water." Sad

The80sweregreat · 25/05/2017 21:16

peanut, where is your salon? if i had a drink whilst my foils are doing, i think i would come out far happier than i went in! *( although my lovely hairdresser is great!)
never had alcohol offered - i would have to get the bus there and not drive.

amusedbush · 26/05/2017 14:57

Amazing although lacking alcohol.

There's a salon near me that offers you a free cocktail of the day (Woo Woo that day, with edible glitter) and free refills. I was half pissed before she even washed my hair 😂

Xmasbaby11 · 29/05/2017 17:18

Ooh I'd always expect a drink. The nicer the place, the better quality the drink. I go to a cheaper place these days and I'm there for 2 hours. Always get at least one cup or tea or coffee - it is only instant, though.

Westray · 29/05/2017 17:20

My salon offers nothing.

But a cut and blow dry costs £15.

Thinkingofausername1 · 29/05/2017 17:21

I think that's bad client care. I love my hairdressers I get a drink even when I am waiting for my daughter to have her hair done. With busicuits and sweets Wink

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 29/05/2017 17:22

I personally think this is outrageous! (I also personally think I must be the only pov on Mumsnet - haven't been to a salon in, well, a while...)

PaulAnkaTheDog · 29/05/2017 17:24

My hairdressers have a drinks menu Blush love it!

Lweji · 29/05/2017 17:25

I've only been offered a drink in the UK. And I do find them awkward. The only good time to drink them is if you're waiting between washing and cutting. Or if you are having something lengthy that requires a waiting time.
I'm always only wash, cut, dry, so I don't feel the need for a drink.

QuestionableMouse · 29/05/2017 17:26

If not getting a drink while getting your hair cut is the worst of your problems, you have a very lucky life.

NotYoda · 29/05/2017 17:26

Ask?

DandelionAndBedrock · 29/05/2017 17:28

My hair dresser always pauses for me to drink my drink when she is sectioning and snipping.

DSis has a scary hairdresser who once rejected a cup of tea on her behalf and sent the poor receptionist to make a fresh one Shock.

gillybeanz · 29/05/2017 17:31

I have never accepted a drink at the hairdressers, have been offered a few times, but certainly not every time.
There was one once that supplied a list of costs for each drink.
A small bottle of water was £2.50
I think it was Tony and Guy but not 100% sure.

Wanabeamama · 29/05/2017 17:33

I own a hair salon and on really busy days sometimes it slips your mind if all staf are really busy trying to concentrate on getting everyone's hair perfect and going 10hrsvourself without a sip of water but if someone is in for a long service i.e. Colour or more than 30 min we will always get round to it at some point I always ask at the end of applying colour when they will be sitting for 45 min while the colour processes

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/05/2017 17:33

My salon offers- water, herbal teas, coffee and tea and wine. There's even a menu. Smile

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/05/2017 17:33

I'm with you OP,I think it's shoddy service.

Mummyandthemermaids · 29/05/2017 17:37

In hot weather, I've had ice lollies at mine and I always get offered a drink. You were robbed! Grin

ItShouldHaveBeenJingleJess · 29/05/2017 17:38

I'm blown away by this thread - I feel as though I've just wandered on to the set of The Real Housewives of Beverley Hills, and I'm going to have to confess I've never had Botox (defribs at the ready)

londonrach · 29/05/2017 17:39

Didnt know hairdressers gave drinks

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 29/05/2017 17:39

The juniors will pop and get you a sandwich if you are there over lunch time too Grin

styledilemma · 29/05/2017 17:40

My salon's hot drink comes on a tray with a fancy little biscuit, a chocolate and a sweet.
Christmas you get offered Baileys. Summer Prosecco.

Sparklingbrook · 29/05/2017 17:40

I wouldn't want a drink at the hairdressers.
