Probably the first and last time I thought Trump spoke with sensitivity and well

I doubt they care what term they are referred to in speeches. What a POTUS - or any leader - should have done was speak about standing together and helping each other. Not refer to them at all. If he cared about peace, not annihilation, war and division, that is what he would have done.

LadyGlitterSparklesSeriously · 23/05/2017 11:58

He's always spoken like a teenage surfer dude from the 80s. 'Toootal loooser' - fucking ridiculous way to describe a terrorist who's just committed a massacre in an arena filled with children.

CrazyExIngenue · 23/05/2017 11:58

He was clearly referring to extremist ideology. The kind that inspires people to murder.

I don't think the man has ever uttered a clear sentence in his life, however, for the vast majority of his supporters extremism and Islam go hand in hand.

troodiedoo · 23/05/2017 12:02

I agree OP, can't stand the man but was impressed with his speech it was quite moving. Of course I'm not excusing all the other dick things he's said.

Laiste · 23/05/2017 12:02

The man's a twat and he sounds like a twat.

Embarrassing for America frankly.

blerp · 23/05/2017 12:05

No, he's right, losers they are.

Actually, for all the robotic "poise" and "educated" tone of our one, I didn't mind hearing one single world leader ever speak like he is a human being who was angry for the children concerned. It was totally clear that this was the closest you could get in his office to calling the creature a cunt: like an actual person who just heard someone personally targeted children with a bomb.

"Loser". Honestly if the media adopted this tone, whatever you think of it, rather than legitimizing/glamorizing them, going on about their names etc. we might see positive effects on our morale, positive effects on integration (because it is losers, not muslims and this is something many wish the public would understand) and perhaps a little bit less appeal for the sort of mad scum that would contemplate this sort of thing.

Radishal · 23/05/2017 12:06

Don't forget where he was making the speech- next to Abbas. Sadly there are people who will link this terrible act to striking a successful blow for Palestinian liberty. While I agree that Trump is a knobhead, anything other than a firm (albeit clumsily worded) line against extremism was not appropriate.

thedcbrokemybank · 23/05/2017 12:09

Trump uses the word loser as an insult frequently. It is always about winning and losing to him. This is not an appropriate time for that.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 12:16

Corbyn is being very statesman like.

MrsJayy · 23/05/2017 12:19

But these losers are killing hundreds of people i get the dont give them credit for anything but by calling them losers especially from Trump just inflames imo I know my post doesn't make that much sense but everything that comes out of his mouth sounds wrong and his arrogance is astounding

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 12:19

Lady no disagree they revel in being terrorists and Isis and including the word Islam in their evil and, as Trump said, monsters so reducing them to losers was to me the right thing to do.

OP posts:
EtonMessi · 23/05/2017 12:20

Haven't heard the speech, but yes they're losers.

I'm no Trump fan mind you.

But "lone wolves" for example sounds so cool and rugged, I've always thought they should call them "lone losers".

They're not winners in any case.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 12:20

I am no Trump fan by the way he's ridiculous generally but in this case I thought he was right

OP posts:
Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 12:21

Yes Eton hate that lone wolf term too.

OP posts:
MrsJayy · 23/05/2017 12:22

Pal of trump Piers Morgan got my back up today as well his tone and wording was just really off

peaceout · 23/05/2017 12:25

I agree, lone Wolf is the wrong phrase

Roussette · 23/05/2017 12:26

If I lost a game of scrabble my kids might tease me and call me "a loser".

He uses the word 'loser' frequently in tweets so it means nothing. He sounded like a complete pratt and it only took one minute before he turned it to his Agenda scoring political points by saying he wants this sort of thing obliterated.. However, it's short on detail as he never says HOW.

Sparklingbrook · 23/05/2017 12:28

I just can't take him seriously as President. I still can't believe he is the President.

Laiste · 23/05/2017 12:29

Murderers is the correct term.

HoldMeCloserTonyDanza · 23/05/2017 12:36

James Comey (ironically enough) promoted the use of the term "lone rat" in place of 'lone wolf".

Given that Donald Trump also describes Republican and Democratic politicians as "losers", I don't think it's really the strong, dignified condemnation the situation deserves.

SapphireStrange · 23/05/2017 12:37

I haven't heard or read the speech, but I agree with the sentiment on here that calling bombers losers is not what I'd want or expect from a world leader. Unless the world leader was about eight years old.

innurendo · 23/05/2017 12:40

"Corbyn is being very statesman like."

Stuff him to be honest. His "friends in Hamas" have targeted civilian children for slaughter with bombs, set out to create this same kind of nightmare deliberately.

Some people might not have this sort of nightmarish thing fresh in our minds when he speaks. Some do.

innurendo · 23/05/2017 12:42

civilians/children

CuddleAttack · 23/05/2017 12:48

Trump is way out of his depth

peaceout · 23/05/2017 12:52

Trump would be out of his depth in a sheet of graphene
