Probably the first and last time I thought Trump spoke with sensitivity and well

Actually, screw, there was an interview on radio 4 with a very experienced translator, who'd been struggling to translate into Trump since the inauguration. She said the main problem is that he is usually makes no sense and then what does make grammatical sense is largely meaningless. So bang goes your theory.

translate Trump

Charmageddon · 23/05/2017 18:17

I think some people are reading too much into the word 'loser' tbh.

It's not about winning vs losing it's a dismissive name; a word that exemplifies the pathetic nonentity that they are.

SapphireStrange · 23/05/2017 18:17

I'm understanding the word 'loser' perfectly well. It is not a word that a world leader should use for a serious, sombre speech about sombre matters.

You understand the word, but in the context of a successful suicide bombing, it doesn't make any sense, does it?

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 19:42

lulla no worries

user he is stone dead and didn't go to paradise. He won't divide us and they won't win.

He is a looser

However I do think that calling them losers works, it's appropriately dismissive

I agree. And I hate Trump. Realistically speaking there is nothing Trump could say that wouldn't sound idiotic though, because he is an idiot.

LouiseBrooks · 23/05/2017 22:31

Blimey well uneducated yes but he is isn't he?

Well no, he's not uneducated. His father was a millionaire so of course he had a decent education, although that seems hard to believe when you listen to him. His vocabulary seems limited and half the time he can't string a sentence together so "losers" is not really surprising. Personally it's definitely not the language I'd expect from a senior politician in any country. It's something a 14 year old boy might say.

Valentine2 · 23/05/2017 22:33

Just seen his second failed attempt at holding his own wife's hand! Shock
What is Melania on about?

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 10:00

What is Melania on about?

Would you want to hold his hand?

SapphireStrange · 24/05/2017 11:01

yes but we're talking about what Trump said and will remember it but will forget what Theresa May said tomorrow

Sure, but not for the right reasons.

Valentine2 · 24/05/2017 14:12

Would you want to hold his hand?
Grin
'Course not! It gave me such vicious pleasure to see her doing that. I salute her.

innurendo · 24/05/2017 15:23

From what can be surmised he has lived an extremely socially isolated life except for the world of business - mostly high level negotiations by his own accounts - which probably explains his dilapidated vocabulary when it comes to anything outside the domain of his work (which you would expect to be most things), and a world divided between the amazing and the terribleterrible.

Fliptophead · 24/05/2017 15:52

I do too valentine! I fee bad for her though I think she's been told she needs to stay with him through the election and presidency. She definitely doesn't seem happy to be around him!
