Probably the first and last time I thought Trump spoke with sensitivity and well

They ARE losers because terrorism & terrorists cannot win

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 13:01

innurendo

I despise Corbyn but he spoke well. His past may well come back to bite him though I agree

Just heard a victim was primary school age ffs utter utter bastards

I wouldn't want to hear him talk about it any more than id want to hear any other creepy sex offender talk about it.

WorshipTheGourd · 23/05/2017 13:09

"Loser" is American teen-speak and therefore not appropriate in this context, imo.

May's speech was dignified. Quite long. Havent heard Corbyn yet.

Of course it would be wrong to 'ignore' a tragic event such as this.

But how do we reduce the oxygen of attention to murderers?

Topseyt · 23/05/2017 13:16

I am no fan of Trump at all. He is a prize twat and I can't understand how anyone could have voted for him.

However, I have no qualms about calling these people losers. They ARE losers, and they do not represent Muslims. They do the peaceful and law abiding Muslim communities around the world no favours at all.

I call a spade a spade. Trump, objectionable as he is, did that too. It is how he reacts from here onwards that will be important, not that he uttered the word "loser".

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 23/05/2017 13:19

He's always spoken like a teenage surfer dude from the 80s. 'Toootal loooser' - fucking ridiculous way to describe a terrorist who's just committed a massacre in an arena filled with children*

This is more or less my thoughts exactly.

Valentine2 · 23/05/2017 13:20

"Losers" OP? How is that sensitive? He comes across as an arrogant arse every time he opens his mouth. Besides, I have just seen his pic taking a medal sort of something from the Saudis and that pissed me off because it's the Saudis who started exporting this jihadi mentality everywhere.

HTH.

Valentine2 · 23/05/2017 13:22

Trump would be out of his depth in a sheet of graphene
^ This

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 13:24

I think to be fair the whole of the democratic world is 'out of its depth' how do you fight this? No one seems to know

OP posts:
cdtaylornats · 23/05/2017 13:24

I find it very worrying that he said "This wicked ideology must be obliterated " Which essentially boils down to Islam must be obliterated....

Well no it doesn't - haven't you noticed he has been in the Middle East drumming up anti-extremist support?

Topseyt · 23/05/2017 13:28

OP, I am not Corbyn's biggest fan either, but agree he spoke well. He does at times. Sometimes I can warm to him a bit, but not enough generally.

I can never warm to Trump at all, even though I have no truck with what he said here.

Trump is an arse. Corbyn, while I am not a follower of his politics, is for me a much more pleasant person.

derxa · 23/05/2017 13:31

I think what he said was absolutely right. They are pathetic losers. I listened to Theresa May and her words were all very fine and statesmanlike but that word loser was a good choice.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 23/05/2017 13:32

You sound like Diane Abbott.

It was cringeworthy. He's not up to the job in any way, shape or form. He's an embarrassment.

Jeremy Corban isn't much better.

Words fail me that some people actually think either of them spoke well today.

Charmageddon · 23/05/2017 13:59

I do think that calling them losers works, it's appropriately dismissive

That's exactly what I thought when I saw it.
Appropriately dismissive.

They want to be called 'monsters' & terrorists and be bigged-up into a bogeyman.

Loser is a far more accurate way of describing them.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 14:06

Annie what on earth do you mean?

Totally agree Topseyt conflicted over Corbyn and can't vote for him but I hope deep down he's a decent man. Still not sure. I am however very sure Trump is not a decent man but just this occasion I thought the term looser was apt.

I just really wish people would stop putting Islamist and terrorist together.

There's no such thing snd it reinforces and dignifies terrorists.

OP posts:
Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 14:07

I also like the term lone rat rather than lone wolf.

OP posts:
Valentine2 · 23/05/2017 14:08

sorry but no one can convince me that a man who just has been shaking hands and receiving medals from the people who have funded and supported this ideology has the fucking right to call these terrorists losers. I would much rather he keeps his trap shut or uses robotic words like the emotionless inhuman money-fuelled robot he is so I don't feel more insulted.
Hmm

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 14:17

valentine

All western leaders go to Saudi! Merkel,May that's the deal. Maybe trump can do some good. I have no faith but look we are where we are just like Brexit.

No good just saying wish he would shut up

OP posts:
BoredandConfused · 23/05/2017 14:20

When I first heard Trump's statement, I thought him crass to use the word "losers" to describe such people.

On reflection, I agree with him. They are losers, they are losing, they will lose.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 14:26

Hate the term Islamic state too! There is no such place so why use it?

OP posts:
Roussette · 23/05/2017 14:27

As far as they're concerned they've 'won' at that moment haen't they? They won't be thinking of themselves as 'losers'. The whole of the western world is talking about them. It's an unfortunate word from a stupid man who has just signed the biggest Arms deal in history with Saudi Arabia.

KatsutheClockworkOctopus · 23/05/2017 14:29

I agree I think it is accurate - though I would expect something more eloquent from a world leader. IS etc seek out the pathetic, the inadequate, the "losers" and convince them everyone else is to blame for their failings. It's a frighteningly short step from that to atrocities such as Manchester. And it makes me angry beyond belief.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 14:31

Can you imagine anyone gloating over the death of an 8 year old child? This is a special type of evil we are dealing with here

OP posts:
Crabcanon · 23/05/2017 14:37

Katsu my view entirely. Why are they losers? Suicide bombers have achieved their goal, they've taken and ruined lives, they've got the world talking and in at the moment of blowing themselves up, they are 100% sure paradise and a pile of virgins await their arrival. They make us fearful and no one really has any idea how to curb these acts because, well, how the hell do you? Security and intelligence can't thwart every attack no matter how hard they work.

Trump spoke like a 14 year old. And what he said was inflammatory and likely to lead to more Islamophobia.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 23/05/2017 14:41

nonsence.

I was so pleased he didn't use the word Islamic and at last stopped linking this evil with any religion.
