I started off thinking I'd vote SNP but I've definitely settled on Labour.

I'm not pretending that any if the available options are perfect but I feel like every time Theresa May talks about Brexit and "stands up" to Europe (our closest ally and trading partner ffs), it's a bit like cringing as a racist out of touch relative starts spouting off at a party and praying to God they don't say anything too damaging for the sake of the family's reputation.

As for strong and stable....

However, I can't pretend that Labour are much better, I just know that their view of society chimes more closely with mine.

I don't want to start a bun fight, I just want to gauge how dramatic this Tory landslide is going to be or if there's still some hope....

Dons hard hat and awaits flaming!

My hope is when this happens a centre left party will emerge under a good new leader and provide a decent effective opposition.

You had a centre left in Milliband and look how well that went. Blair was a conservative in a red tie, he's even come back out the woodwork to endorse conservatives (although I think they wish he hadn't) Corbyn is the correct leader for labour, with proper labour values, not some stupid conservative "lite" policies.

Some labour MPs don't like Corbyn but that's cos they're leftovers from the New Labour era and the sooner they bug off the better

As an avid supporter of fox hunting

Do you torture and kill other small animals or is your psychopathy limited only to foxes?

bruffian · 23/05/2017 17:24

Personally I find the way cheap chicken is 'farmed' in this country far more horrific than a fox hunt.

Jupitar · 23/05/2017 17:29

Personally I hate both, I buy free range chicken and eggs, and abhor fox hunting

bruffian · 23/05/2017 18:02

I hate both too. But fox hunting is a weird anomaly that involves very few animals.

Do you genuinely want educating on the facts of fox hunting as a means of predation control or are you just out for a bun fight? If it's the latter I'm afraid I can't be arsed to argue with another stranger on the internet.

Guepe · 23/05/2017 19:50

I joined the Lib Dems in the immediate aftermath of the Referendum, but having reviewed the manifestos I'll be voting Labour. I'm in a Labour safe-seat anyway.

I find a groundskeeper/farmer with a shotgun a lot more humane than chasing a terrified animal across country on horseback, so how are you going to educate me on the benefit of the fox hunt, is it because the poor little dear has some exercise before its tortured death? Or do you want to educate me on how its a pathetic excuse for a wanky social gathering?l Hmm

I live in rural Wales so I'm very aware of foxes I lost two chickens to a fox this year, the farmer down the road ended its life as quickly as he could with a shotgun so justify your animal torture to someone and somewhere else

Frillyhorseyknickers · 23/05/2017 21:22

🙄 I am a farmer so you can pack that in right now. I'm a fairly good shot as well, with both a shot gun and a 243 rifle.

Foxes were hunted for predation control as well as for sport. A healthy fox will outrun a pack of foxhounds which is precisely why it was "sporting". The hunted fox culled the sick, weak and ill in a country to ensure the the breeding population was sustained.

As a hunt we respected the season- hunting took place from October to March and allowed the breeding season to be left alone.

Keepers will shoot foxes at any time, in fact it is infinitely easier for them to snare and rifle a sucked vixen and know that her cubs will starve and they won't have to deal with them later on. A rifle doesn't differentiate between the sick and the old and a healthy dog fox, as a result the general population of foxes is compromised.

I'm not expecting you to support hunting but you can at least try to understand what you are so against.

PigletJohn · 23/05/2017 21:51

It is well known that no keeper ever catches a fox and keeps it locked in a shed until hunt day.

Bluebeedee · 24/05/2017 12:49

Frillyhorse- yep keep making excuses for your disgusting hobby.
There’s little scientific evidence to support the argument that hunting with hounds is necessary for controlling the fox population.

Gottagetmoving · 24/05/2017 16:13

I don't slavishly follow my party I find that just lazy and the actions of someone who really doesn't understand politics, as you would say

There is a massive difference in slavishly following a party and jumping from Labour to the most right wing party we have had in decades.
You vote on policies not solely on the leader.
The Tories and Labour are totally opposite!

bruffian · 24/05/2017 16:14

The Tory manifesto has been described as the most left wing conservative manifesto for some years.

Bluebeedee · 24/05/2017 16:26

Bruffian- by who?

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 24/05/2017 16:37

jupitar yes but he's not electable is he so you can't really say he's the best leader unless you prefer opposition?

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 24/05/2017 16:40

Gott

No labour has gone far more left wing than Tories have gone right.

Still if you prefer opposition that's great. I don't. And the Blaire being a Tory in a red tie ... just so so silly

bruffian · 24/05/2017 16:43

It's amazing how labour supporters say you vote on policies not the leader then love to criticise Theresa may

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 24/05/2017 17:51

I like many millions of others havnt left labour.

Labour has left us.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 24/05/2017 17:55

Labour has left us.

Nope Labour came back, sorry you were conned by Blair

Jupitar · 24/05/2017 18:00

yes but he's not electable is he so you can't really say he's the best leader unless you prefer opposition?

He's been repeatedly elected as an MP for 30 years and has been elected twice as the labour leader, so not sure you can say he's not electable.

If labour lose this election THEN you can say he's unelectable as leader but until then it's only your opinion

sleepingdragons · 24/05/2017 18:07

I usually vote Labour but this time I will vote tactically to get the Tories out.

VinIsGroot · 24/05/2017 18:12

We usually vote Lib Dem but are voting Labour as a tactical vote!

juneau · 24/05/2017 18:15

I've always voted Conservative, but this time I'm voting Lib Dem. I just don't agree with the Tories on so many things - chief among them Brexit. I refuse to give Theresa May my mandate to go and do something I 100% disagree with. I also HATE what the Tories are doing to the NHS.
