To ask I if anyone has changed their voting preference?

I started off thinking I'd vote SNP but I've definitely settled on Labour.

I'm not pretending that any if the available options are perfect but I feel like every time Theresa May talks about Brexit and "stands up" to Europe (our closest ally and trading partner ffs), it's a bit like cringing as a racist out of touch relative starts spouting off at a party and praying to God they don't say anything too damaging for the sake of the family's reputation.

As for strong and stable....

However, I can't pretend that Labour are much better, I just know that their view of society chimes more closely with mine.

I don't want to start a bun fight, I just want to gauge how dramatic this Tory landslide is going to be or if there's still some hope....

Dons hard hat and awaits flaming!

I've gone from Labour to Lib Dem or Green.

There is no way I could vote for a party led by Corbyn and his incompetent shadow cabinet. He is deeply unpleasant, incredibly vain and seems obsessed with his bussed-in crowds, so much so that he actually gatecrashes other people's. I mean, why fake popular support? NW Labour and Momentum members were being begged to go to his Wirral West rally last week to get a good crowd for him. I know because I was emailed as a very recent ex-Labour member and it was widely shared on social media. This recent picture from Scarborough is another example.

Sorry for going on, but the sheer fakery of support gets on my nerves. It's so pathetic. I have a longer list of reasons, but they'd probably get me deleted.

To ask I if anyone has changed their voting preference?
Yaralie · 29/05/2017 16:43

I am lucky that I can vote for the party I believe in, the Liberal Democrats, as in this constituency it will be a close run thing between the LibDems and Tories. We had an excellent LIbDem MP until 2015 since when we've had a useless Tory.

If I lived elsewhere I might vote Labour or Green if they were best placed to challenge the Tories. As long as we have First Past The Post, most people have no chance of being represented by the candidate they voted for and the country suffers "elected dictatorship" on the basis of minority support.

We must campaign for Proportional Representation to become a truly democratic country.

MaisyPops · 29/05/2017 17:00

I can see past it because they will require the support of the parliamentary party to pass legislation.

The back bench MPs can hold them to account.

I refuse to accept that under first past the post I should hand over he country to a bunch of selfish wankers so they can redraw constituency boundaries in their favour, repeal different voting systems in other U.K. Elections and repeal the fixed term parliament act, so they can twist the political system so it is so rigged in their favour that the chances of us actually having any chance of change is limited.

That's what this election is about. Control.

With labour, lib dems, snp, Plaid Cymru and the greens all offering progressive left of centre politics there's enough centre left sentiment out there. But unr the current voting system they will struggle to get in, other than labour. If Theresa May doesn't her reforms, then the chances of any centre left progressive politics in the future goes down.

So yes, I can get past the fact I'm not Corbyn's biggest fan because I'll be damned if I'm letting a load of power crazed rich twats control political debate for now until eternity.

ceceliajames · 29/05/2017 17:05

I usually vote Conservative, this year I'm torn between Tory or Labour (no point voting anything else in my constituency)

I've always voted Conservative but I feel very uneasy about cuts to disability/fox hunting/that DC gave us an EU referendum just to try and win the election. I'm not particularly keen on May and I feel uneasy with how they're treating some of the most vulnerable in society.

That said I don't trust Labour. They have been in control of my town since the 90s and it has turned into an utter shithole. My local Tory MP is against fox hunting and actually seems like a decent chap.

So I've basically got no idea who to vote for.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 29/05/2017 17:49

I can see past it because they will require the support of the parliamentary party to pass legislation.

That's fine. However there are many of us for personal reasons have said many times as to why we can't.

Radishal · 29/05/2017 19:42

Labour "members" voted Corbyn. Doesn't mean the electorate prefer him.

I am with you there

I saw May at a factory the other day 'official' photo....masses of people. Real photo.....small handful of people

Raggydolly3 · 29/05/2017 20:32

I am a life long labour voter but if anyone is going to tip me over the edge to vote for someone else it will be Diane Abbott Hmm.

AllThePrettySeahorses · 29/05/2017 21:32

Rufus - I haven't seen that but yeah, too right! What is the point of it all? We all know May won't draw the crowds so why even try? And Corbyn doesn't either. They're politicians, not pop stars.

In the interests of complete honesty I like to hold my hand up when I've changed my opinion on something (I know my views haven't always been well received on here)

Ive always voted Tory, was considering ukip and now for the first time ever a televised debate has completely changed my mind.

I'll be honest and say I was expecting to piss myself at an incompetent buffoon who couldn't lead a country ever.

And it turns out my opinion has completely changed, Jeremy got my vote.

He's nothing like I expected him to be. And I found myself agreeing with him far more than May.

Fuck that was a surprise!

RufusTheRenegadeReindeer · 29/05/2017 22:02

Well done killdora

You make me want to watch it now

Might look on catch up

Perfectplonker · 29/05/2017 22:04

Well I like to have a discussion on here and thought it would be extremely cowardly to name change because I'd changed my opinion.

Best to get it out in the open Grin

Awks · 29/05/2017 22:06

Same as Killdora tbh. He appeared competent and confident. TM was all over the place.

BbDoc · 29/05/2017 22:41

I know I've changed since previous elections - I'm totally for labour now!

That's not strictly true alltheprettyseahorses

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 30/05/2017 00:10

3 seperate callers on lbc who were at the debate. 2 Labour and one Tory. All have said that May stayed and interacted and spoke to the audience afterwards. Even those that disagreed with her. Corbyn just walked off.

Maybe we don't know what happens when the camera stops rolling. Who knows

I don't think that debate will have changed many people's minds. It will have consolidated certain voters views. Need shorter answers though.

My friend is staying with us at the moment who is undecided and got bored with both of their long winded answers.

One thing most can agree with however is Paxman has had his day and I don't think he will do this sort of thing again.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 30/05/2017 00:11

That's not strictly true alltheprettyseahorses

Not suse the Canary is the most reliable of sources tbh.

Killdora · 30/05/2017 00:13

Awks and Perfectplonker

Oh good I'm not the only one 😁

That's the first bloody time I've actually felt a politician passionately believed in doing the best for everyone, without it being false.

I'd just gotten so used to the slick, sound bite politicians I didn't know what to think.

I can say this though, the media that I will admit I watched and shape down my views about Corbyn did not show the man I saw tonight.

Neither have the clips being shown of the debate.

I can see why he didn't bother engaging with them now tbh.

ExplodedCloud · 30/05/2017 00:38

I've been keeping an eye on the Conservative FB page and it's interesting that they've switched focus from 'Jeremy Corbyn' to 'Jeremy Corbyn and Diane Abbott' in the last few days.
That sounds like they know Corbyn isn't a disaster so they're wheeling in Abbott. Who under anyone's opinion is not having a good campaign.

Killdora · 30/05/2017 00:41

I agree with that Grin

Someone hide Abbott me n a cupboard somewhere until the end of the election. She's a menace to voters who could be won over by Corbyn.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 30/05/2017 00:53

I'm still anyone who will beat the SNP candidate. It won't be Labour in my constituency but Corbyn's latest idiocy on Scottish independence means I will not go back to Labour for as long as he is leader.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 30/05/2017 01:06

Corbyn's latest idiocy on Scottish independence means I will not go back to Labour for as long as he is leader.

I would be furious if I was Dugdale. He has probably lost Scottish Labour numerous votes over this and gone against the manifesto.
