I started off thinking I'd vote SNP but I've definitely settled on Labour.

I'm not pretending that any if the available options are perfect but I feel like every time Theresa May talks about Brexit and "stands up" to Europe (our closest ally and trading partner ffs), it's a bit like cringing as a racist out of touch relative starts spouting off at a party and praying to God they don't say anything too damaging for the sake of the family's reputation.

As for strong and stable....

However, I can't pretend that Labour are much better, I just know that their view of society chimes more closely with mine.

I don't want to start a bun fight, I just want to gauge how dramatic this Tory landslide is going to be or if there's still some hope....

Dons hard hat and awaits flaming!

*Used to be green but now 100% passionately labour. Seems to be the only party trying to make things better for everyone.

Shocked at the people on this thread saying they used to be labour but won't vote for JC. Seems crazy to risk another term of Tories which will see important services like the NHS crumble*

Corbyn intends to welcome all and sundry from all countries in the World. Do you have a believable link of how he is going to support them??

pennypickle · 24/05/2017 22:42

Bold fail :(

I think it might have been Buffoon Boris who claimed that 70million Turks were going to come to Britain.

Have they arrived yet?

PigletJohn · 25/05/2017 00:45

My mistake, it was Boris and Nigel

"EU loophole could see 77 MILLION Turks head to Britain, warn Farage and Johnson"

We should apply a "truth and honesty" filter to the claim.

There are a few reasons I've switched from Lib Dem to Tory.

  1. Lib Dems want to legalise cannabis. I abhor all drugs and absolutely do not want it legalised.
  1. Immigration. Lib Dems want to let in 50,000 Syrians over 5 years. That is ridiculous and we simply cannot support even a fraction of that number.
  1. They want to lower the voting age to 16. I don't believe 16 year olds are mature enough for such a decision.
  1. They're pro-Brexit. I did vote to remain last year but we chose to leave, so leave it should be.

Corbyn's a joke, so Tory it is.

Dixiestamp · 25/05/2017 01:01

I don't consider myself as being one party or another, but I can say I've definitely had a big turnaround and change of heart...

That are the first 3 sites on google. If you want anymore google yourself. I have no wish to look at the crap JC is spouting

sleepingdragons · 25/05/2017 09:13

pennypickle what is your point exactly?

I think you need to watch this, Frankie Boyle puts it better than I can!

makeourfuture · 25/05/2017 10:22

Sleepingdragons,

It is so obvious. And yet we look anywhere else....

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 25/05/2017 10:25

jupiter

I think you are blinkered but who knows.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 25/05/2017 10:49

Frankie Boyle is a vile man who took the piss out of a disabled child. How on earth you can post links to this hideous disablist is beyond me

badabing36 · 25/05/2017 11:01

Don't normally like Frankie Boyle but that is a great clip.

pennypickle · 25/05/2017 11:35

Your vote for the UK leader is based on the rantings of some vile, highly offensive, unfunny 'comedian'. Righto....

Firewall · 25/05/2017 11:45

Won't be voting labour, policies will bankrupt us or will be empty promises. Plans to get the money from taxing higher earners won't add up. There's lots of research saying you will bring in much much more revenue by raising everyone's taxes by 1% rather than just For the 'rich' but obviously that's not politically correct and won't win votes.

makeourfuture · 25/05/2017 11:49

raising everyone's taxes by 1%

Not necessarily against that at all. Are those our only two choices?

HappyWombat · 25/05/2017 11:49

I just spoke to my Grandma on the phone. She is 90 and has voted for the Tories in every election since she could (because that's how her father voted, and that is what she's always done). She voted Lib Dem (she had a postal vote, she can't easily get to a polling station), and the only reason that she didn't vote for Labour was because someone told her that Jeremy Corbyn is a communist! To say I am shocked that she didn't vote Tory is somewhat of an understatement!

makeourfuture · 25/05/2017 11:50

Your vote for the UK leader

I'm voting on my local MP. Have the ballots changed?

WesternMeadowlark · 25/05/2017 12:04

I'm still wavering between Labour and SNP. Lib Dem policies are alright, but I think they'd split the vote here, since they've never won, to my knowledge, even in 2010.

I agree with the point about Scottish vs UK elections. I don't think the SNP not having many MPs at Westminster would make a difference to the independence issue either way. So I don't need to think about that when deciding this time, which is good.

Using this website's test gives me a stronger match for Labour than I would have expected. (I also recommend playing around with the international feature, where once you've got your results you can see who you'd support if you lived elsewhere; good fun!) Most of my friends matched Green better, or Plaid Cymru.

But I do need to think about tactics. I find it odd that anyone up here would switch from Labour to Conservative over the independence issue in a UK election, unless both their Labour and Conservative candidates were comparatively centrist.

But then I also find it odd that anyone would refuse to vote for a candidate who closely matched their beliefs because they don't like the leader of the party that candidate belongs to (and I'm talking about all parties, here, not just Labour).

It's an interesting election. If depressing.

Dogsmom · 25/05/2017 12:04

I would vote Ukip but they don't stand a chance at this election so I'm voting Tory to cancel out a labour vote then probably back to Ukip next time.

Bluebeedee · 25/05/2017 12:14

Western- I'm with you 100%. I said earlier on that I didn't uunderstand labour voters switching to Tory when their policies are so different all because they don't like JC!

My views align most with snp but I don't live in Scotland, I'll be voting labour.

Bluebeedee · 25/05/2017 12:15

Dogsmom, out of interest what do you like about ukips policies?

alltouchedout · 25/05/2017 12:16

Dogsmom, what do UKIP offer that the Tories don't?

Jupitar · 25/05/2017 12:19

Won't be voting labour, policies will bankrupt us or will be empty promises

Conservatives have double the national debt since 2010, whilst cutting public services to the bone, at least labour intend to spend on the police, fire brigade and NHS not more tax cuts for rich corporation

Petronius16 · 25/05/2017 12:28

And in 2010, Labour had started to reduce the deficit caused by the American sub prime scam in 2007.

I'm normally Labour but in this constituency voted Lib Dem for tactical reasons. However, this time I'm voting Labour - I still think the Tories will win but the last thing this country needs is unfettered capitalism. I want JC to get a lot of votes so it can be seen not everyone worships TM. Her comment yesterday about what she would do about technology security, 'if I'm elected' was in poor taste.

The number of posters saying they will vote Labour does my heart good.
