To ask I if anyone has changed their voting preference?

I started off thinking I'd vote SNP but I've definitely settled on Labour.

I'm not pretending that any if the available options are perfect but I feel like every time Theresa May talks about Brexit and "stands up" to Europe (our closest ally and trading partner ffs), it's a bit like cringing as a racist out of touch relative starts spouting off at a party and praying to God they don't say anything too damaging for the sake of the family's reputation.

As for strong and stable....

However, I can't pretend that Labour are much better, I just know that their view of society chimes more closely with mine.

I don't want to start a bun fight, I just want to gauge how dramatic this Tory landslide is going to be or if there's still some hope....

Dons hard hat and awaits flaming!

Haven't voted Labour since the Iraq war. Usually green or Lib Dem, but . will be voting labour this time. I don't think Corbin is leadership material, but he's a decent honest guy, and the manifesto is solid.
Would never in a million years vote Tory.

PigletJohn · 22/05/2017 17:43

LadyPW "he's an IRA supporter"

That's an interesting story. Where did you hear it?

JustAnotherPoster00 · 22/05/2017 17:44

Interesting you said that flyingelbow I was wondering if many SNP, plaid cymru voters would switch to labour in an attempt to oust the conservatives. I imagine that most would prefer labour in power to conservatives.

Welsh Westminster voting intention:

LAB: 44% (+9)
CON: 34% (-7)
PC: 9% (-2)
LDEM: 6% (-1)
UKIP: 5% (+1)

(via @YouGov / 18 - 21 May)

ExplodedCloud · 22/05/2017 17:45

Perhaps it was from the IRA member who's a Conservative councillor in Croydon Piglet

Whistleblower0 · 22/05/2017 17:48

Interesting that the tories have climbed down yet again on a policy decision, when the right wing press get the rage!

Strong and stable eh Teresa Grin

alltouchedout · 22/05/2017 17:53

I started off torn between the Libs and Labour but decided on Labour pretty quickly.

PigletJohn · 22/05/2017 17:56

'mmm

To ask I if anyone has changed their voting preference?
tobee · 22/05/2017 18:00

What I'm always shocked about is people who say "I've always voted Labour, I'm not voting Labour any more" so march straight on past (the libdems etc) and to the Tories. At least UKIP or EDL. Hmm

catgirl1976 · 22/05/2017 18:01

I have voted Lib Dem in the past and I was a huge fan of Paddy and didn't mind Nick Clegg.

However I cannot vote for Tim Farron with his awful views on homosexuality etc.

I will be voting Labour. I have voted Labour before as well but until recently thought of myself as a Lib Dem at heart. Farron has killed that. I voted Remain and would love a second referendum but not enough to vote for someone with views like that.

I'm not a huge JC fan but I would never vote Tory and I can't vote for Tim.

I'd love to see the Tories ousted. I think TM is horrific and the manifesto is appalling.

Sadly where I live it's a Tory safe seat.

tobee · 22/05/2017 18:02

At least not* UKIP or EDL

mamapants · 22/05/2017 18:02

Thanks justanotherposter very interesting

Whistleblower0 · 22/05/2017 18:02

I hope Andrew Neil goes to town on May tonight. She is getting a free ride by the press. Pretty disgraceful.
Neil is a Tory though..

MooPointCowsOpinion · 22/05/2017 18:03

I'll be voting labour for the first time, this is the first election I've thought they're centre-left, always been far too central for my tastes. There's hardly anyone fully left anymore!

ClashCityRocker · 22/05/2017 18:04

I started a firm lib dem but am considering labour. Safe tory seat but a remain constituency.

I don't know if it's because labour supporters are more vocal but there does seem to be rising support for labour locally which might swing it for me if I think they're in with a shot.

As to the manifestos, I think there are some good things in all of three, although I'm not sure any of them are worth the paper they're written on.

JustAnotherPoster00 · 22/05/2017 18:09

In my personal opinion (very left biased) Labour have more to prove so I think there's more chance they will stick as closely as they can to the manifesto, he's proposing a shift towards Keynesian economics so they focus is very much going to be on their commitments if they get into power

BillSykesDog · 22/05/2017 18:10

I decided not to vote Tory because of the dementia tax.

I'm not going to vote Lib Dem because of their policies on Brexit.

I'm not going to vote UKIP or Green because they're nutters.

I really don't trust Labour on immigration, but was starting to wonder if they were the best of a bad lot.

But then I come on here and see people like the OP throwing around 'racist' at anybody whose views differ slightly from their own. And then I remember I don't want the people with attitudes like that back in power and decide not to vote for them.

Going to be a tactical abstain.

2rebecca · 22/05/2017 18:11

Labour to Scottish Green Party. Not sure who I'll vote for next month as no SGP candidate, maybe Lib Dem although I really don't want another Brexit vote. The triple lock on pensions is unaffordable with 2.5% increase even if no inflation, I also support people's homes counting towards their care costs, it should lead to better social care, the current system is unaffordable and i'm happy to pay for my own home care before other tax payers have to help. My kids can make their own way in life. The tories are awful on the environment and NHS, although labour were also pro PFI and privatisation when they were in power, glad the SNP are against these but I'm not a nationalist and don't want scottish independence.

BackforGood · 22/05/2017 18:15

BillSykesDog - I think there was something on the news this afternoon about that being changed. ~(The 'dementia tax')

esk1mo · 22/05/2017 18:16

ive gone from Lib Dem to SNP, but choose Labour this time round. I like JC.

Despise Tory and anyone who votes for them

BillSykesDog · 22/05/2017 18:16

At least not UKIP or EDL

Well they'd have trouble voting for the EDL as they're not a political party and don't put up candidates. So perhaps the people you're moaning about voting for the wrong party are just slightly better politically informed than you and able to make their own decisions? Like voting for a party that, um, y'know, exists?

LAlady · 22/05/2017 18:16

Voted conservative last time. Will be voting Lib Dem this time. In a very Tory area with Teresa May as our MP but I just don't have faith in her. Interestingly my always staunch Tory supporting DH is very uncertain who to vote for too. There's a lot of us about, it would appear.

BillSykesDog · 22/05/2017 18:17

They're saying there will be a cap but not how much.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 22/05/2017 18:19

They're saying there will be a cap but not how much.

Labours mentions a cap too I think but again doesn't say at what point.

MissWilmottsGhost · 22/05/2017 18:20

Same here catgirl

I was tempted to vote libdem but I have many gay friends and can't bring myself to support Tim Farron. Despite my dislike for JC I will most likely be voting Labour.

I support the Green's policies the most, but I think the lefty vote is too split as it is and we need to unite behind one party to challenge the Tories. Sorry Greens ☹

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 22/05/2017 18:20

Yes, was gonna vote Con but no idea what I'll vote now.
