To ask I if anyone has changed their voting preference?

I started off thinking I'd vote SNP but I've definitely settled on Labour.

I'm not pretending that any if the available options are perfect but I feel like every time Theresa May talks about Brexit and "stands up" to Europe (our closest ally and trading partner ffs), it's a bit like cringing as a racist out of touch relative starts spouting off at a party and praying to God they don't say anything too damaging for the sake of the family's reputation.

As for strong and stable....

However, I can't pretend that Labour are much better, I just know that their view of society chimes more closely with mine.

I don't want to start a bun fight, I just want to gauge how dramatic this Tory landslide is going to be or if there's still some hope....

Dons hard hat and awaits flaming!

I totally agree with juneau people will lie about how they vote. 6 million voted UKIP and I bet you lots of them did it in the privacy of the ballot box.

It's really hard to call as TM has so far run a terrible campaign and Jeremy has got better since he sent Dianne off to some gulag to keep
Her quiet until the election. Wink

I think the tories will win and I predicted Brexit and the lady Tory win too, on mumsnet yes preens myself Grin but this will be either a good win or a landslide not sure yet which. To the tories obviously

juneau · 26/05/2017 16:57

All of you switching to Conservative or Labour might want to take a look at this article about what the IFS (Institute for Fiscal Studies), makes of the two manifestos:
IFS makes damning assessment of Tory and Labour manifestos

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 26/05/2017 17:01

Or like Trumps election.

Considering he was running against Hilary Clinton, that really wasn't much of a surprise.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 26/05/2017 17:03

TM needs a spin doctor. It's unfortunate that she has zero charisma. Like poor old Ed and way back Foot.

Thatcher, Blaire, Cameron, Corbyn, Sturgeon have it and May, Brown, milliband and the very strange Farrant just don't.

And it is important it really is.

christinarossetti · 26/05/2017 17:04

In that case, Corbyn will walk it.

Theresa May is an absolute embarrassment.

Has no coherent policies, inarticulate, narcissistic, not very bright. She won't have a debate with the leader of the opposition, so I can't understand why she fancies herself around a negotiating table with 'Europe'.

Geoid · 26/05/2017 17:04

I was going to vote Labour but will now be voting conservative. Or lib dem. I think conservative.

ExplodedCloud · 26/05/2017 17:04

She's got Lynton Crosbie.

christinarossetti · 26/05/2017 17:05

TM needs some coherent policies, to have a proper televised debate, and have something to say other than 'I'm not Jeremy Corbyn'.

Trying2bgd · 26/05/2017 17:11

I have voted liberal dem and probably will stick with that although may move to Labour if it seems a tight race between tories and labour in this ward. I simply cannot vote for a party that wants to bring back fox hunting, that's crazy.

PigletJohn · 26/05/2017 17:15

somebody, somewhere, must have voted for Buffoon Boris.

There's no accounting for what voters will do.

howthelightgetsin · 26/05/2017 17:24

I don't think it will be a landslide because I don't think boundary reform has happened yet has it? And until that happens a 97 or so style landslide is almost impossible.

I think she'll get a majority maybe 20 bigger than now and it won't be a single big as they'd hoped and will all have been a bit of a waste of time.

My personal preference would be for whatever result results in corbyn gone the quickest and the best chance for labour to sort themselves out.

Radishal · 26/05/2017 17:25

Already voted- postal vote. My dh gritted his teeth and voted Labour because he likes the local candidate. Regretting it after Corbyn's speech today. I voted neither Labour (usually Labour) or Conservative (hell hasn't frozen over so not going to). No regrets from me.

Geoid · 26/05/2017 17:31

Radishal the speech today was what has changed my mind. I was already torn, and I don't think Corbyn will make a good leader, but I really like our local Labour candidate.

Gottagetmoving · 26/05/2017 17:36

I was a bit wobbly about JC before the election was called but since then he has surprised me. He is the only leader who is coming across as strong and sounds like he means what he says.
May was pathetic in her interview with Andrew Neil. He made mincemeat of her and all she could say was how clear she has been and how strong she will be over Brexit...strong economy..blah, blah...
If she couldn't come across as strong with Andrew Neil, she stands no bloody chance on Brexit negotiations.
May needs a script.
I can't face another 5 years of May ruining the nhs and public services...my vote is with Labour.

christinarossetti · 26/05/2017 17:47

Yep. That:s it for me. Whether I like JC or not, people need decent schools and health services.

What's left will completely decimated is the Tories get in again.

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 26/05/2017 18:00

Agree but will labours sums add up? They tax and spend and have no problem with that but are they trying to squeeze the pips out of a very small minority and it won't be enough or sustainable.

It's the economy stupid

Dianneabbottsmathsteacher · 26/05/2017 18:03

That's not directed at anyone btw obviously a quote

ExplodedCloud · 26/05/2017 18:03

At least Labour are showing their working out Dianne unlike the Tories insisting they've got the answer whilst teetering on an ever growing pile of debt with their spending plans in disarray.

reetgood · 26/05/2017 18:04

@dianneabbottsmathsteacher have a read of that summary of the IFS report. The gist is
a) no-one's sums add up
b) focusing on immigration would be detrimental to economy
c) labour should be truthful about tax rises
