I started off thinking I'd vote SNP but I've definitely settled on Labour.

I'm not pretending that any if the available options are perfect but I feel like every time Theresa May talks about Brexit and "stands up" to Europe (our closest ally and trading partner ffs), it's a bit like cringing as a racist out of touch relative starts spouting off at a party and praying to God they don't say anything too damaging for the sake of the family's reputation.

As for strong and stable....

However, I can't pretend that Labour are much better, I just know that their view of society chimes more closely with mine.

I don't want to start a bun fight, I just want to gauge how dramatic this Tory landslide is going to be or if there's still some hope....

Dons hard hat and awaits flaming!

I will stand up and say that I have voted conservative in the past. I absolutely cannot do so again. The manifesto they gave and the promises they made at the last election are all total and utter bollocks. Reasons:

They blamed ATOS for the failures in ESA/PIP and promised a fairer system. Instead we have a system that is even more harsh than the ATOS regime as they have somehow moved all the goalposts. The criteria for eligibility has changed in the last 3 years and I've no idea how they managed it. There are also still huge issues with assessors flat out lying on the forms and the appeal being so complicated and stressful most who need these benefits don't have the mental or physical capacity to face it.

They have systematically screwed over the NHS.

The social care and pension policies are absolutely ridiculous.

They gave us brexit and have zero fucking clue how to actually do this without making enemies.

Boris Johnson is foreign secretary ffs.

I was unsure about JC as a leader but these last two weeks he has really surprised me. I have been especially reassured by some of his past that has come up, especially his votes against party policy. I suspect this is one of the main reasons he faces so much hatred from his own party. I have more respect for him than I did before but I'm worried he won't be able to unite the party properly because a lot of his party don't share his views on big issues which will cause disharmony.

I still think he can do a better job than strong and stable systematically tear our country apart torys though so he has my vote.

TodaysUsernameIsBoring · 26/05/2017 11:32

I'm a floating voter btw I vote based on the policies and the state of the country at each election. I've voted Tory, labour, green and lib dem over the years.

Bluebeedee · 26/05/2017 12:10

Pennypickle, Bo Jo and Brexit isn't even my main issue with the Tories but I'm finding it hilarious how you keep dodging this:
“Let’s give our NHS the £350m the EU takes every week”

pennypickle · 26/05/2017 12:18

Do your maths blue - you will find 8bn over 5 years is significantly more than £350m over 5 years. I'm not dodging the issue. I have answered it. I say based on BoJo's campaign he didn't lie. You say he did. We will have to disagree.

Re whoever is asking where the money will come from maybe you could read the manifestos for each party? I have better things to do than create links for you. The sun is shining. The beach is calling.

I don't give a rats backside who you vote for but at least educate yourself before you make a decision

reetgood · 26/05/2017 12:21

I'll just leave this here

To ask I if anyone has changed their voting preference?
reetgood · 26/05/2017 12:23

Let's see that campaign slogan in full, now we've seen boris standing in front of it. That's £350m a week. Not a year.

To ask I if anyone has changed their voting preference?
PigletJohn · 26/05/2017 12:43

It's sweet than penny thinks it's my job to justify the vague £8bn claim she trots out.

In fact, the Tory manifesto does not include ANY costings and does not say where the money will come from.

Cutting school dinners, perhaps?

Bluebeedee · 26/05/2017 12:47

Funny how you tell me to educate myself before making my decision when you still seem unsure on what was said re bo jo and brexit.

I think you need to educate yourself, I'm clear on the policies I support thanks.

Bluebeedee · 26/05/2017 12:53

Also Penny, I did do the maths and 350million a WEEK for the next 5 years IS more than 8billion a year.

alltouchedout · 26/05/2017 13:13

Hush Bluebeedee, we're in a post facts era. Are you one of those dastardly experts? Don't you know we don't need them any more? So what if BoJo lied, so what if the Tory manifesto is uncosted, so what if they haven't stated where the extra money will come from? The 'stick your fingers in your ears and sing Rule Britannia and pretend we still have an Empire and all will be fine' approach is what we need right now.

howthelightgetsin · 26/05/2017 13:19

I'll be voting conservative. I'd like the option to vote labour but they are far far too left for me at the moment. If they moved closer to the centre I'd consider them.

I voted remain but I consider it a done deal now to leave the EU and I'm fine with that.

I believe the Tories are going to get the shock of their lives when the election results come in. Can't wait to see that play out on the telly.

You believe wrong. The tories will not be shocked when they win by a massive landslide Wink

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 26/05/2017 14:13

They really won't.

juneau · 26/05/2017 14:38

The Conservative vote is always underestimated by pollsters. The Labour vote is consistently over-estimated. And MN is not representative.

juneau I agree that the polls are probably wrong but I suspect it will be less of a drubbing than the Conservatives expected to dish out.

I am hoping that, at the very minimum, the Conservatives lose a couple of seats, weakening May's mandate.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 26/05/2017 15:20

It will be a landslide, no doubt about it.

Bluebeedee · 26/05/2017 15:26

WhatToDoAboutThis2017- how arrogant! Telling someone what they believe is wrong!

Yes we all know who you'll be voting for, other people are entitled to their own opinions.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 26/05/2017 15:30

other people are entitled to their own opinions.

I have not stated otherwise.

And even before I switched to voting Tory (was voting Lib Dem), it was clear it would be a landslide whether I wanted one or it.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 26/05/2017 15:30

Yep.
