To ask cat owners for good name suggestions?

Getting a kitten soon. DH doesn't care for cats or their names, four stupid suggestions from DC's. AIBU to think that Play-Doh, Meatballs, Tootsie and Muppet are all truly dire names for a cat that I will have to call -loudly - (not them).

AIBU? If I'm not can cat owners give me some genuine non-twatty suggestions for the new kitten?

I also think Gary is a brilliant name for a cat.

My dog is called Derek (inspired my Ricky Gervais!) and when I registered him at the vet I started laughing when I said his name. She said "sorry? I didn't get that" and I couldn't say it without laughing! Same happened when I had a rabbit called Maureen.

It's when you have to tell the vet it's name that it becomes a problem.

When we told the vet ours was called Purrlock he just laughed at me, haha. Though tbf, everyone has said it's a great name for a cat. We adopted him at 2 and re-named him and I think he definitely suits his name!

Gary is an ace name for any animal. I had a Himalayan guinea pig called Gary.

My favourite pet name ever is a tortoise called Voldetort.

Barry was going to be Gary, then we realised that is the name of one of DH's uncles Although, in the end we think that Barry the Bengal has rather a good ring to it.

I have a cat called big boy. He was named by his previous owner. It's not a great name when I'm shouting for him over the neighbours fence, but it is funny to get the vet to call it out when DH takes him in.

What about Mau (pronounced Mew) Ancient Egyptian word for cat ?

I had two boys called Stanley and Sidney, I love Norman, Dave, Colin, Neville, Beryl, Doris any boring or underused person names are great for furbabys!

We have Zoltan and Ruby. Zoltan was nearly Mr Wickham, and Ruby was nearly Miss Bennet or Eliza.

I've had a Merkin, an Oedipuss, a Sherbet and a Pearl.

I'd love to know the origin of Merkin - isn't that the name of a wig for your pubic hair?

My daughter named out - Molly and Milly.
Molly has a boyfriend over the road called Milo (Milly doesn't like him much) - so it is Molly, Milly and Milo
