To ask cat owners for good name suggestions?

Getting a kitten soon. DH doesn't care for cats or their names, four stupid suggestions from DC's. AIBU to think that Play-Doh, Meatballs, Tootsie and Muppet are all truly dire names for a cat that I will have to call -loudly - (not them).

AIBU? If I'm not can cat owners give me some genuine non-twatty suggestions for the new kitten?

Our best cat names are Hippo ( she was big) Donut and Zeb.

She was a floofball as a kitten so Wookie was deemed appropriate at the time. Now she's a slink.

My beloved was named Salem (was female, thought it was a Tom until she gave birth.)

I'm usually one of those people who names them after pop culture things or general idek names tbh; our rabbits are Elric and Boop/Booper.

Ours is called Oskar. My mum has a Merlin.

I like cats to have people names. I also considered: Frank, Kevin and Stanley for our cat but Oskar suited him better. DD wanted to call him Oreo because he is black and white.

I've got a Velcro (sadly lost his sister Blu Tack) and used to have a Hobbes named after the tiger in the comic strip Calvin & Hobbes (the next cat we got didn't look like a Calvin so was named Oscar).

I think you should get 4 and go with your names of Play-Doh, Meatballs, Tootsie and Muppet - they're fab!

Loki. He's originally a capricious Norse God.

We currently have Sunny, Cher, and Sirius Black.

I actually think Meatball is cute, but for me it would have to be a boy and kind of silly. If it's more dignified, I'd pick a "people" name, like Watson or Annabelle.

I love people names for pets. Especially traditional run of the mill people names. I'd love a pair of cats called something like Barry & Linda!

It's when you have to tell the vet it's name that it becomes a problem.

Agree with telling the vet! I had a cat called CatBaby and when the vet receptionist asked me when registering I stared at the poor woman for about 30 seconds imagining the scenario of CatBaby being shouted in a packed vet waiting room.

I have Shrodinger (whom we call Shrodie) and Loki. One is named after a theoretical physicist who had a cat/box theory. The other is named after the mischievous God.
