For example, someone who would have voted Conservative but will now not or are on the fence because of what is contained in the Conservative manifesto (or Labour, Lib Dem manifesto etc).

OP posts:
FlapAttack88 · 21/05/2017 23:43

Would have voted lib dems if not tactical

Voting labour now as most likely to challenge the conservative vote in this area.

AppearingNormal · 21/05/2017 23:48

I think the Tories want to lose.

HelenaDove · 22/05/2017 00:09

I wondered about that Normal Because of Brexit.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 22/05/2017 00:20

Tories never want to be in opposition

Labour yes at times the Tories whatever the situation want to be in power they know now their position is strong enough to put out such a proposal and look how it really challenges us to think about how money is raised for care and that difficult times mean government need to make tough sometimes unpopular decisions (nicely plays into May isn't afraid to and won't be afraid to when it comes to Brexit negotiations) and not just create a popular and pleasing spend spend spend manifesto as with Labours

It's far more of a centre/left type policy than a conservative policy was even mentioned sounded like a policy Blair and Brown would put forward

Lionking1981 · 22/05/2017 00:42

I like Corbyn but a few weeks ago I did have a wobble mainly because of the chaos within the party than Corbyn himself. I thought I would vote Tory to get a strong team behind Brexit but I have changed my mind completely. I love the labour manifesto. The lib dems is dreadful IMO. It is a two horse race. Pick your side.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 22/05/2017 00:44

Yes. I was voting Lib Dems, now I'm voting Tory.

anon1987 · 22/05/2017 00:44

I don't think it matters who you vote for, they're all going to fuck the country up anyway like they have before.
You can't please all of the people all of the time and that's the biggest problem.

Jupitar · 22/05/2017 07:17

Im in the anyone but tories camp, and will vote tactically to get them out, so either lib dems or labour, but if I didn't need to vote tactically it would be labour because of the tuition fees, my kids are teenagers and are both leaving school during the next 5 years.

GColdtimer · 22/05/2017 08:23

What, how do you feel about the funding cuts to schools? Do you have a child/niece/nephew/friend in a state school? If so please don't be on here in a few years time bemoaning the state of education - class sizes of 40, no TAs, subjects being dropped in secondary. Because you would have voted for it.

Equally I hope a Tory voter never complains about an NHS waiting time again. I could go on.

They have told you what they are about. Don't be surprised when it bites you on the arse.

Cocklodger · 22/05/2017 08:27

I was going to vote labour and now I'm voting labour so no Grin

Biker47 · 22/05/2017 09:02

No, still voting Conservative.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 22/05/2017 09:06

Because you would have voted for it.

I hope those that voted for Corbyn in the leadership elections ensure that they and he takes his share of the blame if Labour lose. After all they voted for him.

motherintraining · 22/05/2017 09:56

I think the changes in pensions and social care from the Tories are far more radical, progressive and sensible (as infixing a problem that needs fixing Ina sustainable way) than any thing in the labour manifesto. So it has really put me on the fence. My mother would turn in her grave if I voted conservative but I was impressed by those changes.

Troubleinstore · 22/05/2017 10:16

tuition fees for university scrapped from this September ... big game changer for my household -and purely selfish- ... still looking at all the manifestos though... and undecided

citroenpresse · 22/05/2017 10:26

motherintraining the Guardian said it showed chutzpah - I think it's a radical policy proposal but there's no detail. There's no recognition of the stress and financing of social care, there's nothing about the impact on inheritance tax, there are no costings for that at all: the manifesto is appalling. The language being used about Brexit and 'deals' is infantile. The Tories got us in the Brexit mess in the first place because of infighting within themselves and lied (and continue to lie) about the impact. The alternative is not great but it is not worse by any means. Never voting Tory. If I could only predict whether there would be sufficient other ditherers in my constituency I would vote lib-dem again (because of Brexit). Otherwise voting Labour.

PortiaCastis · 22/05/2017 10:39

Uni fees are a problem for me as a single Mum with a dd going up in Sept so yep Labour it is

mummymeister · 22/05/2017 11:02

I heard the education woman from Labour on BBC this morning.

anyone being seduced by the free tuition fees really needs to look a bit closer at who is going to hammered by Labours tax hike to fund it.

are you paying any sort of tax? then it will be you.

why are people just still not getting it. there is no such thing as FREE someone, somewhere always, always has to pay for it.

I think that the tories have started to talk about the unthinkable. too many govts have pushed the football of elderly care down the road but really we all have to man up a bit and deal with it now. you cannot hope to have the state paying for 20 or 30 years of care - because this is the reality when people retire in their 60's and live well into their 80's + - and you still keep hold of your £500K house to pass on to your family.

we have to stop doing this - seeing money as going from one generation to the next and view it for what it is - something to spend and use whilst alive.

and yes, this does go for all the hereditary titled people as well.

Nothing is Free. everything costs and Labour in particular is taking us for fools by thinking that a free bit of this and a free bit of that as well as a free unicorn for everyone is going to sway people.

if labour get in I just despair.

and as for Corbyn and his credentials, I know the man, I worked with him. and the interview he gave about the IRA confirms to me that nothing about him has changed.

he will never ever get my vote.

Biker47 · 22/05/2017 11:34

Uni fees are a problem for me as a single Mum with a dd going up in Sept so yep Labour it is

You won't be paying the uni fee's anyway though surely?

motherintraining · 22/05/2017 11:43

Sounds like Tories might u turn on social care which is a shame. We should be taxing wealth not income to pay for an ageing population and shrinking workforce.

JungleInTheRumble · 22/05/2017 12:00

I was going to vote lib dem but now I'll be voting labour. I like the policies in their manifesto and think they could actually act on them. Contrast to the lib Dems who, true to form, appear to have picked one issue that they must know is never ever going to happen and they're making wild promises about it. Déjà vu much?!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 22/05/2017 12:05

twofalls Looking at all the manifestos, the Tories is the best one by far. Jeremy Corbyn is an absolutele joke; Theresa May is the strong leader we need.

Goldenhandshake · 22/05/2017 12:06

Still Labour, the manifesto's have just cemented it for me.

May's backpedal on the trading of antique ivory, intention to put on another fox hunting vote, dismantling of the NHS, cap on nurses pay, keeping Jeremy Hunt on even after the Jr Dr's contract shambles, cuts to fire services, increased NHS waiting times, shameful handling of education and children's services, the cuts to legal aid, the bedroom tax, the surge in food bank usage... I could go on.

They are a cretinous party who care for no one who is not wealthy and able bodied.

teapotter · 22/05/2017 12:19

Considering voting Tory for the first time ever since the manifesto! I was impressed that they were willing to get the older generation to pay something if they have the means. Too often the tories have protected wealthy pensioners from austerity at the expense of the younger generation.

Mia1415 · 22/05/2017 12:21

Its made me not want to vote for anyone! I think I might set up my own political party.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 22/05/2017 12:53

I hope those that voted for Corbyn in the leadership elections ensure that they and he takes his share of the blame if Labour lose

You've got to be joking ... Grin
