To want to know how to put knickers on properly?

I'm FOREVER putting holes in mine when I put them on.

How do I not do this?

It's definitely the pad of my thumb that makes the holes in mine - pull the front up, move hands to back to get knickers up to right spot on butt cheeks, push thumb straight though material just below elastic

Don't just pull them up with your fingers.

You have to wiggle up into them.

You're going to have to find another way of putting them on.

Stretch each leg across the top of a waste paper bin (i.e. 2 bins). Stand on a chair then jump into the knickers. No hands or nails need come into contact. Take the bins off your feet before putting your pop socks on.

Or put them on while in the shower. When your skin is nice and wet, and your fingers are pruned, there is (probably) scientifically less likelihood of a snag.

Or is that wiggle down?

Anyway, just wiggle while gently holding with your fingers.

You are probably washing them wrong and knackering the fabric - do you tumble dry them - try getting some new ones and following the washing instructions. They do go thin when old and can rip. Having said, while DP has ripped my knickers off I've never managed to do it myself. But maybe one day

I had to think really hard about how I put my pants on, because it's one of those things that is so automatic that I just do it without thinking. Having mimed it (I checked that no one in the family was watching ), I put my thumbs through the leg holes at approximately the side seams and bend my thumbs so that it's all gathered at the sides, no thumbnail touching the fabric. Then I put each leg through and pull up. Once they're all the way up I just adjust the waistband.

Do you have a big bum OP? Because you said you negotiate them up over it, I have a very small bum and hips (belts needed for any jeans looser than leggings, stupid non-bum) and I just step in and pull them the whole way up in one motion. If you're having to pull them up over an area that requires negotiating you might be putting an unusual amount of pressure on them or weakening the fabric with excessive pulling over time?

I wonder if you are more paranoid with long nails and thus more careful. Are your longer nails less sharp? Do you file them more?

I don't put holes in knickers but I am another one who pulls the belt loops off jeans so am ready to believe it is indeed a 'thing'. I also knacker taps freakishly quickly, DH says I'm brutal with them but I can't seem to turn them on or off any other way!

I do this too OP! Doesn't matter how sturdy the knicker I will eventually poke holes in them. I think it's because I use my thumbs and I have extremely strong fingernails so hard I couldn't bite them if I wanted to, it happens even when they are cut short. What I need is specially inserted loopholes for thumbs when pulling up/down

Sloggis are nowhere near as good quality as they once were. The material seems to go sort of brittle after a while.
