People assume I would like to have larger breasts

Why do people (three good friends have mentioned this) who have large breasts think that I must want large breasts.
I have no issue with my 34A boobs and neither does my DP. If I had bigger boobs I would be overweight. These friends have large breasts but are also overweight.
One asked, don't you ever consider chicken fillets? Umm no.
I have no issues with my body although others seem to see the imperfections. It infuriates me that everyone assumes you must have some issues, what are we teaching our DDs if this is the case? AIBU?

That should say "don't spring"

This is so weird to me but I assume I don't understand sizings. 40 bra here. F cup. Size 16. Seems to fit fine, if I try a 38 it digs. I don't understand how 2 people who are the same clothes size can have a 10 inch rib difference

I measure 32 around the ribs. Most of the time I am a 32 size bra, but this particular one seems to come up big in the band so I sized down. Smile

But actually, that reminds me. I've often seen people say that eg they are a size 10 but they are a size 34 or 36 bra. I really can't get my head round that, because a size 10 clothes measurement is 34 to 35 inches bust. If you're 35 inches at the fullest part of your bust, how is it possible to be 36 inches under the bust?

AceholeRimmer · 14/05/2017 16:48

I don't get the comparisons people make.. We are all different sizes with different shapes. I know slim women with wide backs and larger women with narrow backs. There is weight, height, size and shape at play and no-one here can see each other. If shops supply small back sizes then it must exist.
God I wish I had a small back EnvyGrin

bananafish81 · 14/05/2017 17:06

older yes, the VS model thing is a pet peeve of mine! The VS models are skinny giraffe like women - they're taller and more sylph like than me, and I wear a 28. The smallest back size VS make is a 32 - I don't believe that most of the teeny tiny VS models are all 32 back size up. The bras are adjusted for the show, but I doubt any of the models could actually wear the bras they're modelling and them actually fit properly (doesn't ride up at the back, no more than two fingers under the band etc etc)

olderthanyouthink · 14/05/2017 17:13

Banana thank you! Someone else who gets it!!! Their pink line starts at 30 and it's aimed at 12-22 year olds Angry

Maybe they mean clothes size on the bottom? I am a 16 (averagely, it depends which shop Confused Vary between 14 and 18) on the bottom and top sizes vary so wildly I can't even get an average xD

Never been properly fitted for clothes sizes, I just go on what fits comfortably.

older I'm glad I'm not the only one who loathes Freya

Tbh I can't stand most of the bras on Figleaves - I just want a very simple plunge t shirt bra

These are my old faithful M&S faves - but the smallest they do is 30D. Which I keep coming back to because they're so flattering and such a smooth line (and so comfortable)

Freya are lacey monstrosities as far as I'm concerned!! I just want the above bra in a 28 please!!

treaclesoda · 14/05/2017 17:34

M&S don't even bother to get their models to wear bras that fit. The fit on the model in that link is terrible, too tight across the front of the cups but gaping up near the top. I bet it's really uncomfortable for her. But then they are promoting that as being an example of what their bras should look like Confused

treaclesoda · 14/05/2017 17:38

The Panache porcelain plunge might fit your needs?

stevie69 · 14/05/2017 17:43

I love mine so much more now they're a 34B, than when they were a 40D. I can see my toes again Blush

olderthanyouthink · 14/05/2017 17:44

I was about to suggest that Panache one

ShyGirlie · 14/05/2017 17:52

I am very happy with my itty bitty titties! I used to long for bigger boobs, but in the year i've fully embraced them! Have finally stopped wearing ridiculously padded bras, much prefer the lacy bralettes and dainty unpadded bras. Even makes me look slimmer! Have even dared to go braless on nights out! Would never have done this until now!

GrandDesespoir · 14/05/2017 18:06

I don't understand the Mumsnet method. I am a petite lady and comfortable in a 32C/D. If I wore a 30 or a 28 (never seen this size anywhere) it would dig in horribly/be impossible to do up. Yet I seldom see adult women smaller than me (small framed,5 foot 1 inch tall, less than 8 stone). Who are these women that can wear 28 inch bras - are they pixies and elfs?

Yes, I'm puzzled about this, too. I'm very slight with narrow shoulders and have virtually no fat around my upper ribcage, but a 30 back can feel a bit constricting at the end of the day. Can't imagine wearing a 28, and I sometimes wear a 32 if I want to be comfy.

BellyDancer124 · 14/05/2017 21:23

YABU to think that everyone with big boobs are overweight. You are also unreasonable to assume if your boobs were big you would be overweight? Hmm weird!

Voice0fReason · 14/05/2017 21:44

When I first looked at the bra intervention I wrote it off as ridiculous.
I was wearing a 36B and even had bra extenders as the band often felt too tight.
The intervention said that I was a 32F which I immediately wrote off as absurd.
However, I did relent and bought some 36C and 34D. The 34D was far too tight. I played around with several other sizes thinking that the 34DD was definitely right, but it still wasn't quite there. I wasted so much money on badly fitting bras because I just couldn't believe I couldn't possibly be smaller in the band and bigger in the cups.

I finally thought I'd try a 32F but there weren't any in stock so I tried a 32FF - OMG it fitted! It's snug on the band but it really fits by boobs in a way that no other bra ever has.

For all the skeptics - just give it a try, it might just surprise you.

BrexitSucks · 15/05/2017 18:44

Two parts of bra intervention that I couldn't make sense of:

The "scoop". Scoop what? There's nothing under my arms but ribs. Ribs don't scoop forward.

Also... there's something about how you mustn't get more than 2 fingers under the bra band. Or else it's too big. I measure 34" under. Heck, I even wear 34" nowadays (since I don't eat so much in middle age). I could fit a whole leg under my 34" band. The seams would probably burst if I did it often, but there's nothing in the bra fitting rules that says I shouldn't try a leg or even a small child to squeeze under there.

gamerwidow · 15/05/2017 18:53

Small boobs are great, big boobs are great too! Let's all just enjoy having the boobs we've got and celebrating our differences instead of putting other women's bodies down.
