People assume I would like to have larger breasts

Why do people (three good friends have mentioned this) who have large breasts think that I must want large breasts.
I have no issue with my 34A boobs and neither does my DP. If I had bigger boobs I would be overweight. These friends have large breasts but are also overweight.
One asked, don't you ever consider chicken fillets? Umm no.
I have no issues with my body although others seem to see the imperfections. It infuriates me that everyone assumes you must have some issues, what are we teaching our DDs if this is the case? AIBU?

I've had a bilateral mastectomy ( breast cancer) and have prostheses - the assumption at my first fitting was that I would want to go bigger!

Not quite the same but my mother had a masectomy and was offered a reconstruction on the NHS. She had been told there was a large chance of the cancer coming back in the other breast so wanted the remaining one removed instead and was told this wasn't possible. So they wanted her to go through a reconstruction and have the chance of it coming back in a year or so. They were very insistent that she should have a reconstruction as why would women chose to be flat chested Hmm (to someone who had just been through cancer treatment ffs...)

It couldn't have even been about the cost as I really doubt there is much cost between getting one removed and having one reconstructed (and a lift on the other to make them match in height, firmness etc as she had had 3 kids and 50 years of gravity...). I would think the removal would have actually been cheaper.

In the end she had to go private to have her choice.

That's so weird! I have big boobs (32FF) and I hate them. I would love to have small boobs and would never assume somebody wanted bigger ones!

user1471545174 · 13/05/2017 19:40

I would like little ones, mine are big but I'm not fat.

I also think this is a stealth boast.

EverythingEverywhere1234 · 13/05/2017 19:43

I'm a (big/slightly optimistic) F cup on a slim 10 frame and while I do love my boobs, Im quite sure not everyone has to have matching bigger boobs in order to be happy. I think it's quite sad actually, that it is assumed that women must want bigger boobs.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 13/05/2017 19:43

34A? Have you done a MN bra intervention?

monkeyfacegrace · 13/05/2017 19:47

You aren't a 34 A.

Well, unless you're a size 16/18 and totally flat?

I'm going to guess 30C.

WankingMonkey · 13/05/2017 19:47

I think it's quite sad actually, that it is assumed that women must want bigger boobs.

I would assume that the 'friends' commenting on the OPs small ones are the kind of people who think having (shitty) men lusting after them is the most important thing in life. As a fair few dickhead males seem to have a thing about large tits. Or at least, the loudest and most likely to shout at passing women seem to have a thing about large tits anyway. Which equates to 'dickhead' to me.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 13/05/2017 19:56

Tell your friends to tit off.

I have big boobs but unlike lots of other women on the thread I like mine! Wouldn't occur to me though that someone else would be dreaming of having bigger breasts, or blonde hair, or green eyes. Or any other physical attribute.

Some clothes look better on a curvy chest and some clothes look better on a smaller chest. The fashion industry certainly is all about teeny and elegant boobs. My abundant chest would be met with a wrinkle of the nose at Paris fashion week. 😅

BrickInTheWall · 13/05/2017 20:01

I am 32H and am hoping to save up for a reduction. I am overweight at the moment but they were an F when I was at my ideal weight and that's still too big for me.
Mine are also saggy after 4 pregnancies so I'm hoping reduction also involves a bit of a lift. My ideal size would be a D.
I'm so jealous of all my friends with smaller breast, I think there is so much more you can wear with smaller boobs!

monkeyfacegrace · 13/05/2017 20:06

I've had a reduction.

I'm now a 32J Hmm

They fucking grew back Grin

BitchQueen90 · 13/05/2017 20:14

I know someone like this. She has very large breasts and a slim figure and she often makes ridiculous comments like "I don't know what I'd do if I woke up and my breasts had shrunk." I think she's very insecure though, she obviously places way too much value on the male attention her breasts get her and it's pretty sad really.

I have small breasts. Between a 32A/B. Never wear chicken fillets or padding. None of my friends make any such comments towards me and if people do then I wouldn't think they were very good friends to be honest!

BooFuckingHoo · 13/05/2017 20:34

I have double F boobs and I love them! I'm lucky that mine are still pretty upright and I think they give me a great curvy figure.

I also have loads of friends who have small boobs and have great model-esque figures.

It would genuinely never occur to me that someone might be envious of my chest unless they specifically said so!

RainbowChasing · 13/05/2017 20:42

I'm a 34A and I would love a boob job but I would only want to go up a size, definitely no more than a B cup as I like having smaller boobs and wouldn't want big ones. However, for the sake of going up one size what's the point in spending that amount of money when a B cup is easily faked with a good bra.

twattymctwatterson · 13/05/2017 20:46

I am slim with big boobs. Happy with my body as it is. I also think small boobs look great and are more versatile in terms of the kind of clothes that suit. To be honest I think commenting on your friends' weight and assuming that large breasts equal fat is as dickish as them assuming you would like to be bigger

hmcAsWas · 13/05/2017 20:53

Get new friends.
This is never a conversation between my friends - and we range in size .....

TheBadgersMadeMeDoIt · 13/05/2017 21:17

I used to have little A-cup, barely-there bosoms, which were distinctly unfashionable at the time. (It was Wonderbra era. Thanks, Eva.) So I was pretty self conscious about being flat-chested and would have had implants in a heartbeat if I'd had the money.

Fast-forward 15 years, post-pregnancy and BF. It was like someone inflated me with a tyre pump until I had a pair of E-cup whoppers that have never gone back to normal. Now, of course, I'd give anything to have my little fried-eggs back. After all the under-boob sweat, pain, asymmetry and flopping about like a beagle's ears I yearn to be all neat and comfortable again.

And I want to wear those cute little strappy, lacy "bralettes" that you can let show under a low-cut top...if you have tidy little unobtrusive boobies. My bras these days are more upholstery than lingerie.

Be happy with your shape, OP. YANBU.

Cineraria · 13/05/2017 21:39

I find it strange that people think one size is better than another. Surely they all have their advantages and disadvantages and most of us learn to make the best of what we have and get used to that.

I have a big bust on small ribs (30J) and I'm happy with that as I like the look of them well enough, so does DH and DS coped ok with them too, so they did their official job well enough and I have found ways to deal with the disadvantages (expensive bras, couldn't ever find a nursing bra that gave enough support, ready made clothes that fit over them generally look like maternity clothes). Having a different size from the one I'm used to would mean an end to some of those problems but would probably introduce different problems I'd have to learn to deal with.

BetterEatCheese · 13/05/2017 21:44

I have the opposite, am a JJ and people always ask if I have considered a reduction. I give no signs that I am remotely unhappy with my boobs and wonder where they get this from. I don't have back pain and am very happy with my shape. Baffles me

minifingerz · 13/05/2017 21:45

I'd love to have small breasts. But only if the rest of my body shrunk in proportion. Currently I'm glad I have massive boobs to balance out my massive thighs and hips. Grin

histinyhandsarefrozen · 13/05/2017 21:50

Its not just boobs. I have a substantial nose and I've often had people suggest that I'd prefer a smaller one. Nope, we're not all desperate to conform to patriachys ideals of beauty (is what I didn't say!)

Voice0fReason · 13/05/2017 21:55

I used to have B cups and was happy with them.
I'm now E/F (growth & intervention) and I'm a bit more happy with them than I was before.

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 13/05/2017 21:55

Bloody hell, some people are so rude! Thid demonstrates the importance of repeatedly telling young children that it's not nice to make comments about people's appearance.

JasmineBuckles · 13/05/2017 21:56

I have had small boobs and big (for
me) boobs.

I loved having small boobs. I have an active job and feeling and seeing my boobs bounce around is so alien and faintly repulsive.

However, this is because I have gone from very very slim to slightly overweight, and is tied in to my feelings about myself, not about boobs in general.

It's just occurred to me that I have given not a single thought whatsoever to the size of my boobs for 10 years - the joys of middle- age!
