People assume I would like to have larger breasts

Why do people (three good friends have mentioned this) who have large breasts think that I must want large breasts.
I have no issue with my 34A boobs and neither does my DP. If I had bigger boobs I would be overweight. These friends have large breasts but are also overweight.
One asked, don't you ever consider chicken fillets? Umm no.
I have no issues with my body although others seem to see the imperfections. It infuriates me that everyone assumes you must have some issues, what are we teaching our DDs if this is the case? AIBU?

Nineinchnails · 14/05/2017 08:31

Okay I'm going to give it a go!

OP the problem is your friends, not your breasts.

The size of breasts is unimportant, why do you socialise with such knobheads?

bananafish81 · 14/05/2017 08:44

Cup size on its own without back size for context means NOTHING

I could say oh I'm a B cup. Or I could say in a D cup. One sounds like small boobs. One sounds larger boobs.

They're the same boobs!! Just depends on which shop measures you as to what back size you end up with. The actual size of the boobs is the same.

noeffingidea · 14/05/2017 08:48

bue and bananafish lots of shops still sell bras in the old sizes. Telling people to remeasure themselves isn't always helpful.
I agree with the OP, I would like my breasts to be a bit smaller, just for comfort really. I think bigger breasts have become the norm now in the media, so they often are seen as more desirable. It's telling to watch TV from the 70's. Just as an example Farrah Fawcett was seen as the icon and number 1 pinup girl (so desirable by male and female standards) and she had small natural breasts. I would guess she would have implants nowadays in order to achieve that evel of popularity.

JacquesHammer · 14/05/2017 08:51

Why has no-one mentioned that breastfeeding is so much easier with A cups

Ummm say what now? I must have missed that memo!

No-one is unreasonable to be happy with their body. As Trifle says though why are people still suggesting how happy they are with small boobs by telling people with big boobs what they can't do. That is JUST the same thing that the OP is about in reverse.

RimJob · 14/05/2017 08:52

I loved having small 34c boobs, I miss them. I don't feel me with these huge watermelon like monstrosities.. In photos they are twice the size of my babys head! YANBU, we all like different things.

metalmum15 · 14/05/2017 08:52

Your friends sound pretty nasty. I have a few friends with fairly big boobs and not one of them like having them. They say they're uncomfortable, saggy after having children, and means there are certain things they just can't wear. You sound perfectly happy in your body OP, ignore your friends. Most bitchiness stems from some form of jealousy.

I have breasts with a congenital condition that makes them not very attractive or functional for BF. I don't really care what size they are but I wish they were 'normal'. They're on the small side however.

I do find that there is very much a media consensus that women all want big breasts (not that I find that to be true in real life). But I worry about what it's doing to teenagers.

I've also noticed that quite often in stories about men transitioning to women they grow small breasts through hormone treatment but then go on to have implants immediately - the implication being that the small breasts alone don't make them seem womanly enough. That also makes me uncomfortable.

bananafish81 · 14/05/2017 09:06

@noeffingidea I'm a bit confused, that's really interesting, can you explain how the bras are different? I buy bras in the same shops that measured me wrongly - I just buy the right size, as I now know how a bra is supposed to fit (not riding up at the back, can't get more than two fingers under the band, no side boob etc)

I can't buy 28DD at M&S cos they don't make it, but I have bought a couple of 30D bras there that although are technically too big for me, are just such good basic t-shirt bras, that I cheat and wear something slightly too big for me.

It's the same shop and even the same range I used to buy a 34B. I just buy the correct size (or as close as I can get it, because not many high St shops do a 28 band)

I'm a bit confused at how shops who measure the old way sell different bras? Or have I misunderstood? Sorry if I'm missing something!

Catsize · 14/05/2017 09:16

Massive boobs here. So heavy, and painful back issues as a result. And they make me look overweight as everything hangs off them and if
I wear tight-fitting stuff to show waist etc., I feel too self-conscious. Would love smaller ones OP. Your friends' opinions are a little strange.

runloganrun101 · 14/05/2017 09:17

OP I'm bi and a natural perky 30EE, 26, 36 despite pushing 40 and I look and feel so sexy and feminine. I can do sports go swimming and run too - all i need to do is wear a nice sports bra first.

StiffyByng · 14/05/2017 09:20

bananafish I'm assuming she means what you suggest in your own post - that they don't stock the sizes with smaller back sizes and larger cups, but continue to offer lots of the ones that relatively few people really need, like 34A.

kali110 · 14/05/2017 09:21

When i was a i size 8, 10 in some shops i was a 32. Def correctly measured.

StiffyByng · 14/05/2017 09:22

kali was that the old way, when inches were added to your rib measurement, or the new, when they are not?

Sallystyle · 14/05/2017 10:26

The one bra I rarely wear is a 36 A.

I am sure that probably isn't right but because I wear it so little and it's comfortable enough I keep it.

I might measure myself the MN way just to see. I have been meaning to do it for about a year now.

Sallystyle · 14/05/2017 10:28

I am not sure I am a 36 back any more though, I'm a size 10?

FruitCider · 14/05/2017 10:33

I'm a 32F and only one pregnancy later my boobs are definitely droopy! I wish I had smaller boobs! My friend is a 34A and can wear triangle bikinis, I've never had the option!

RaspberryOverloadsOnChilli · 14/05/2017 10:41

My boobs are different sizes. But I'd have the larger one reduced to match the smaller one, not the other way round.

CornishYarg · 14/05/2017 10:42

U2 I'm a size 16 and wear a 34 back so almost certain you're not a 36 back! Definitely worth measuring yourself the intervention way.

GrandDesespoir · 14/05/2017 10:53

Noone IBU to be happy with their breasts, regardless of their size. Or unhappy, for that matter. But that should be up to the owner of said breasts.

Nineinchnails · 14/05/2017 11:14

So according to this measuring I am in fact 29C Confused. Still small boobs thoughSmile.

rightsofwomen · 14/05/2017 11:24

OP what do you mean you would be overweight with larger boobs?

You must be pretty near to overweight already then.

I am baffled at this thread. I have tiny boobs, no one has ever suggested I might want bigger. Sure, I talk about them with my mates, in the same way we talk about what's for dinner or what book we're reading but I have never been witness to discussions where jealousy or suggestion of change comes in to it.
I guess I have good friends.

emilybrontescorset · 14/05/2017 11:30

I think having big boobs is seen as being more attractive by many.
I have big boobs and every partner I have ever had has commented on how much they like them.
I would be happy if they were slightly smaller but I would hate to be flat chested .
I think the media have pushed the image of big breasted women as the ideal image for so long now, think page 3 and porn, that it is difficult to get away from.
