Quite a few stories today and yesterday in the tabloids about the programme. The implication is that they got the IVF on the NHS.

tigga61 · 13/05/2017 14:09

I somehow don't think on benefits they cud afford ivf in any country, prob paid for by car crash to producers

muckypup73 · 15/05/2017 09:31

I watched it lastnight, I thought her parents were awful, perhaps if they were a bit more friendly to him it would be better for their daughter, I mean they have been together for 13 years the couple with quads

ThatsNotMyMummy · 15/05/2017 11:59

muckypup i put her parents down to 13 years of back story, i didn't like how they were either, but we only saw a snapshot of a young family really trying, not the preceding 13 years. They did push him away and not make it easy for him to parent, it was almost like they were forcing it to be a self fulfilling prophecy - "see we told you he would go back to his and drinking".

JoffreyBaratheon · 15/05/2017 12:20

I thought her parents were pretty good - imagine having a set f newborn quads in the house, plus an alcoholic. That's an incredibly big ask. I thought her mum was quite restrained. I'd really have told him what I thought of him.

JanetBrown2015 · 15/05/2017 14:29

Yes, you never quite know what is going on in the background. Her father is clearly ill but both parents are providing her with a stable home (I think she, the mother of quads probably has some mental health issues and needs her mother's support) and probably the alcoholic has not been a great match over the last 13 years in the parents' eyes.

It was nice he got a chance to live in and bond with the quads and in fact he was doing all the night shifts wasn't he to start with - quite a task.

tigerskinrug · 17/05/2017 07:38

I thought her parents were amazing. Totally agree about the backstory.

angryladyboobs · 19/05/2017 13:35

I feel sorry for him.

He wants to be with his babies. And she seems like a spoilt brat.

MackerelOfFact · 19/05/2017 13:55

I didn't think much of her parents. Yes, they put them up and doted on the babies, but they were just rude to Tony and seemed to want to engineer problems in their relationship.

Anyur had an arranged marriage to a Turkish man who was abusive to her - and her parents had a photo from the wedding day up on the fucking wall! Who does that?!

I also wasn't impressed that they banned Tony from the house and then upped and left to go to Turkey 'for a break' with no warning and no support in place for Anyur or the babies. Neither of them really seemed sure if he was allowed in the house when they weren't there, but there wasn't much choice really.

Tony obviously has a lot of issues but his mum was lovely and he didn't seem to spend a moment with the babies where he wasn't doing something with them.

tigerskinrug · 19/05/2017 16:38

Mackerel remember this is TV, I highly doubt Aynur's parents decided on the day that they were travelling to Cyprus. The programme was filed over five months (at least) I think the programme was edited to make it look like Tony was the victim. If my daughter got with an alcoholic, unemployed father of 3 dc who he doesn't see I most certainly would not be welcoming him with open arms. The pair of them were very immature, I am sure that there was a lot going on that the show did not reveal.

BandeauSally · 21/05/2017 20:33

I've just watched this and am gobsmacked!

What a pair of selfish arseholes.

Lifelong alcoholic, still drinking, she is homeless, they don't even get on with each other!! Moving in with 4 premature babies to her parents house whilst her father is recovering from cancer?? She sitting there with her big wooden spoon stirring the shite between him and her parents knowing rightly her parents will make him leave! The pair of them are disgusting. How dare they do that to her parents and those poor children.

BandeauSally · 21/05/2017 21:07

oh and I will bet everything I own on saying there is no way she moved to Ireland with him. She knows what side her bread is buttered. Her entire control over him is based solely on the fact she knows her parents will boot him out and prevent him seeing his kids at the click of her fingers.
