To wear no bra (nipple issues)

MrsFloppy · 05/05/2017 19:52

So many of my nice summer tops and dresses just can't be worn with a bra.

Unfortunately since having ds and breastfeeding for 3.5 years my nipples are like sodding bullets.

Last year I tried using those silicone stick on things but had a couple of very embarrassing incidents where they fell out of my dress in public. Blush

Dh says 'fuck it, who cares if people can see your nipples?' and I don't give two shits if I notice another woman's but I do feel uncomfortable when the odd person gives me filthy looks.

Do I need to buy a whole new wardrobe, not give a fuck or has anyone else got any tricks they use?

It's a bit ironic really seeing as 3.5 years of breastfeeding means they've been out a hell of a lot, not sure why I'm all Prussian about the nips! Grin

Oh, I'd love to be able go bra-less again...sigh
Breast feeding ruined mine - I still glance down sometimes and think "that's not here I left those?" OP I know what you mean about your boobs not being big but being wide - I'm a 28F and the same, they just sort of spread out Confused
I've abandoned any hope of finding a strapless bra that works for me, they all seem to just clamp and squash my boobs into an odd shape.
Even my swimwear has to be wired or they just sort of ooze out of the designated 'book area'.
So I'm stuck with sensible tops and can't wear anything strappy and floaty and lovely Angry

NotTheMrMenAgain · 06/05/2017 11:12

Boob area, not book area!

MrsFloppy · 06/05/2017 11:20

Mine ooze too. That's the annoying thing, they look okish out of a bra, it's once I put a bra on they're like that weird goop.

Omfg some of the responses on this thread are baffling! Why shouldn't someone go bra less?! Op, wear what the fuck you like. If you're not comfortable with the nipple issue, try a few different types of nip tape or those stick on cuppy things, find one that suits.

Notso · 06/05/2017 11:49

The only bras that seem to fit me are non-padded granny ones from M&S my nipples show right through them.
I like to adjust them so they are at random angles to amuse DH.

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 11:53

People are free to do what they want with their nipples, I don't really care that much, but I would not and do not go out with my nipples sticking out and showing through my tops. It's not a look I personally like, it's bad enough having men look at my tits as it is, let alone if I had huge nipples in the mix. I personally think it's a look that suits the likes of Jodie Marsh and co, my opinion but feel free to let yours roam wild and free.

MrsFloppy · 06/05/2017 12:15

Notso- exactly! Stupid bloody bras!

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 12:22

My favorite bras are the Triumph Amourette, you can get them slightly padded to give you a nice shape and conceal the nips. The best strapless I've ever had was the Wonderbra, they push your breasts up and don't give you the sausage mono boob shape of many others. Below is the Triumph bra. Once you've been measured up for it you can often buy it cheaper online.

MrsKoala · 06/05/2017 12:49

My boobs are wide and narrow. It's a total pain. I've been told by fitters there will be very few bras to fit me and one told me to just wear vests. Which doesn't quite give the same effect.

MrsFloppy · 06/05/2017 13:32

Buster - thanks! Will order a few on Amazon and try them out.

MrsKoala- it's a pain!

MrsF I can't remember if they come up small or big, but when you get the correct size they are lovely, they are not the smoothest bra under clothes but I'm sure Triumph do smooth bras too!

Jimcanna · 06/05/2017 14:38

I'm really trying to understand your opinion buster

Can you explain to me what it is about the shape of a nipple being obvious through clothing that makes a woman cheap? And is Jodie Marsh cheap? What is cheap anyway?

IllMetByMoonlight · 06/05/2017 14:39

Pickle, I live in the UK now, but am originally from Scandinavia.

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 15:05

Jim you don't need to understand it, as it's my opinion, I do not personally like the look of nipples showing, I am not offended by it, I don't get offending by breast feeding mothers or nudity in films, I just personally never buy bras that show my nipples, and do not like my breasts being stared at, if you chose to show yours then that's fine but i prefer mine concealed as I don't want the uninvited attention.

Jimcanna · 06/05/2017 15:39

No, i don't need to, but i'd like to.

I'm trying to understand the "cheap" thing.

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 15:51

Jim The cheap thing I think is to do with the fact that (in my mind) young women looking to bag attention are usually the ones with visible nipples showing, to me it's an attention grabbing thing, hence why the Op was concerned in the first place, it's a look that young starlets on TOWIE and big brother favor, celebs in Nuts mag with wet t shirts on showing of their amazing breasts. Generally you don't see women in Hello mag with visible nipples, I know Kate Middleton was caught out top less once! For me I like my nipples covered, nipples are not just a sexual thing but they are portrayed to be very sexual and erect nipples usually signify sexual pleasure, so therefore mine are under wraps. When I walk into a bar I don't want my nipples getting attention from leering man, it's not my thing.

picklemepopcorn · 06/05/2017 16:07

Mine have been pinched by a bloke I was dancing with and commented on by a complete stranger so I prefer to keep them snigger away. Also I get jogger's nipple from pretty much everything.

I really like the moulded foam cups- they keep me really snug, and despite being a DD they don't seem to make me look bigger. It's magic.

Jimcanna · 06/05/2017 16:12

I get you.

My problem is that women are expected to modify their behaviour/outfit because of how society and the media potray breasts and how men behave because of that. And unless we're displaying our nipples for sexual attention, they shouldn't be on show.

I've seen it said on here that a woman would be considered unprofessional if her nipples were noticable at work. But really! Unprofessional because of erectile tissue that reacts to cold? It's totally involuntary, it's like saying it's unprofessional to sneeze.

Jimcanna · 06/05/2017 16:25

popcorn you've just reminded me of a guy in the pub who reached out with his finger and thumb to grab my nipple when i leaned in over the table to say bye to a friend. He got within about a cm and i asked him what the fuck he thought he was doing, he was incredibly aggressive, as were the group of men and women sitting there when the woman i was saying goodbye to said he was completely out of order.

I was wearing a loose, thick cotton high necked dress, no make up, hair scraped back. There was nothing sexual about my outfit or behaviour.

The problem is not with my nipples, the problem is with men who can't fucking behave.

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 16:41

I've got a friend who has huge breasts and once in a night club she got groped walking up the stairs! Not a nipple issue I know but it's bloody disgusting! I'm happy to get my legs out, or a bit of cleavage, but I've just never liked my boobs wobbling or nipples out.

ChippersAndRunt · 06/05/2017 16:48

I don't think there's anything wrong with seeing an other woman's nipples...

We see men's nipples on several occasions (swimming pool, men running around topless, those awful tank tops etc...)

However, I can recommend taping them. Very useful...

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 16:52

I know what you are saying Jim but I'm fed up myself of women being seen as sexual objects, which may contradict what I've been saying, but I don't want to see nipples, like I'm fed up of seeing women getting their lips done to the point of their mouths resembling another body part. I'm so sick of everything revolving around women being alluring and sexualized. We'll all expected to have tits up to our chins and lips that wouldn't look out of place on a bloody porn star.

Morphene · 06/05/2017 16:59

buster I could understand that as an argument against accentuating ones nipples, but I can't accept it as an argument against just leaving your nipples be.

The op nipples are just that way naturally, she isn't doing anything to show them off on purpose - she is just...well..wearing clothes.

It's a bit like when people say anyone with armpit hair is 'parading' it, when all they are doing, is whatever they are doing, with perfectly normal hair.

IshipTomHardysohard · 06/05/2017 17:02

You need to invest in a wonderbra strapless bra, it change my life!
Grin

Doesn't give you the odd shape that a normal strapless bra gives, don't have to keep heaving it up. Also give you fabulous boobs

BusterGonad · 06/05/2017 17:21

I know Morpe but it's for that reason I wouldn't expose mine, I'm not telling her not too, but I'm giving my honest opinion on why I don't like protruding nipples. To me it reeks of attention seeking and yes, I appreciate that is putting everyone in the same bracket when it isn't true, but I would not show off protruding nipples because I do not want to be associated with the type of person that does it for vanity and sexualized reasons. People are free to do as they please but I am explaining why I do not like it. I'm am in no way forcing this opinion on others, Jim asked me for my reasoning and I am being honest.
